This is the forth or fifth time we've used Sierra and we've always been pleased with the service...We live in a gated community in an upscale house, which I'm mentioning because we have nice furniture, antiques, and I'm pretty particular about their care... We are having some wood floors installed and some refinished and needed a lot of heavy furniture moved to a different part of the house. Two young men arrived a few minutes late due to a few wrong turns (they called for better directions) and they did a wonderful job. Both of them had worked for the company for over a year and were polite, efficient, well mannered and VERY careful with our things. They were nice enough to place some very heavy pieces of our furniture on their side so we could put felt pads on the the legs. They even helped remove the old plastic sliders. Perhaps the previous poster had one bad experience but as stated before we've used them for several large moves and even had them come over once to move one heavy piece of furniture inside that we had stored in the garage. As for charges, since we had used the company before the charge was $75 an hour...They moved a huge three piece dining set, large TV console, refrigerator, large couch, recliner, coffee table, a curio cabinet and other chairs and tables in ONE hour flat...Glass tops were carefully wrapped in a quilt . The refrig had to be relocated and they did it perfectly...the charge was $75 and I tipped the boys for the good job. I'm going to use them again to move the furniture back in place when the floors are finished. It's regrettable that the previous poster had a bad experience but I guess that happens in any company....He should have spoken up right away about the breaks, smoking etc...instead of letting it continue.... read more

I would never recommend this company. My cedar and Aspen sets supposedly "cracked" from drying. What a coincidence! Furniture not even a year old? My full grain leather sofa, "torn up"? Excuse me, scaring and deep gouges are not the same nor are broken seat frames. I could easily buy this same set on Facebook market place. Also, I asked for their insurance, it was never provided. read more

Poor employees unreliable equipment. Had a move to St. Louis. Broke down on highway, showed up 2 days later with their moving truck full of furniture behind a tow truck. Employees constant complaining about owner. Damaged and lost bed frame. Owner wants to debate every claim.Horrible company owner and employees. read more

We had a last minute moving emergency. 2 flakey movers bailed on us at the last minute. I called Sean on Saturday afternoon and explained our situation. Within a very short time he set up a crew. We were so fortunate to get Chris and Glenn. They were amazing. Very quick, efficient and professional. Thanks Sean for sending them to us. read more

I'm a single mom with a disabled child and called them to move me. I had agreed over the phone to pay for three men, so I could get finished quicker. Supposed to be there at 9am 10:30 am one person showed up. He moved by himself until 4:30 when two others showed up at which time the original guy left. They still hadn't finished moving my 1400 sq ft home by 9:00pm and said they would have to finish Sunday morning. They charged $1500 for this and still didn't move all my belongings. They then told me they would have office manager contact me. I have called seven times and still no return call. I've used movers many times in my life and never felt so taken advantage of. I would not recommend this company. read more

This was a fantastic experience. Sierra have moved me twice in the last 18 years and has done several deliveries for me. It is always refreshing to have them do the heavy lifting so that I don't have to. Thanks!!! read more

Do not use this company!!!! The movers working for this company stole a family heirloom from us. Without a question. I had just looked at the gold chain necklace my late grandfather gave me in the case hours before the movers arrived. After cleaning up the mess they made with the contents of the shelf I asked them not to move the necklace was missing and case was still closed. The best part about all this is the necklace probably wasn't worth much of anything. It was a gift from a recently deceased relative. I doubt it's worth more than a hundred bucks. Police were called. The manager was completely unhelpful. Do not use these people to move. ESPECIALLY DO NOT LET THEM INTO YOUR HOME. read more

Movers were inexperienced. One truck would have been sufficient. Had to rent a large truck and my buddies and I loaded it. Several pieces of furniture were damaged. Even their repair contractor said he couldn't fix our dining room table. read more

We used Sierra Moving when we moved 1 1/2 years ago. Had a great experience. This move was the opposite. The family we bought our house from used Sierra Moving to move out. They broke a family heirloom table and the refrigerator (still doesn't work). They were also two hours late. I was worried, but we had a different moving crew. While they work fast, sometimes they cut corners to do it. Couch cushions fell in the mud, one of my dining room chairs and the bottom of the entertainment center are gouged beyond repair. They broke four stairs and put a small hole in the wall getting the refrigerator into our new house. While they worked hard and didn't waste any time, slowing down a little bit and figuring out which access points worked best, I can't in good conscience recommend them. read more

My problem: A full rental truck in Ozark and movers (another company arranged thru MovingHelp.com) were no-shows. I picked Sierra Moving off of YP.com. Called Chris and explained my predicament. If I couldn't get truck unloaded soon, I'd owe another day plus a penalty. Chris said he'd try to round up a crew for me that afternoon. Got a status call an hour or so later--no luck yet, but he'd come himself if he could find one more guy to help. Indeed, the guys arrived a little later and emptied our truck carefully and efficiently. The cost was $150, the 2-hour minimum charge. They went above and beyond to help us out. Would use again. read more

We have used Sierra and other moving companies over the years. Sierra has always done a solid job. We have called them last minute to help with furniture deliveries or when a friend needs to move and they have always responded and came through for us. We have been customers since the early 2000's and have moved with them 4 times now. Each time I am happy with them. Can't say that for the other movers we tried before them. read more

I've used them 3 times before but have never written a review but today.... They moved my baby grand piano and were perfect. I also needed a couple things around the home moved and they were very helpful!! Why hire two men when Sierra sent me three. Thanks again Dawn! read more

Hired Sierra to move our house. We had to make several trips with a rented trailer to get all of the stuff that they didn't move because they said "it wouldn't fit in their truck". We had everything in boxes, 2 mattress sets, couch, table and chairs. We were moving to a 1800 sq ft home, but they couldn't fit all of our stuff in their truck. While unpacking the truck the movers dropped a cabinet in the driveway. This cabinet shattered. Called the owner to see what they were going to do - I was told they don't pay when "items like that" are broken. They would not do anything. Bottom line, if you need a mover, use someone else!! read more

Sierra Moving moved my mom and she couldn't have been happier. The movers were not only professional but personable as well. They were quick and efficient and took care with her stuff. read more

A friend recommended them. With one move things went perfectly and we were impressed. With another move we got a different team (same company) and it was a problem. They were smokers and had trouble breathing and carrying heavy furniture. They nicked a new piece of furniture and nicked a wall. They seemed very stressed. I actually would use the moving company again if they promised to give me the first team. read more

I would not use Sierra moving company to move my trash. The men they sent over were not professional movers at all. They dropped my washing machine down a flight of stairs and it damaged a wall. Tried several times to call and talk to someone so I could get my washer fixed and or replaced. Still have not heard back. read more

I wish I could rate these guys higher than a 5 star company! They went above and beyond and made my 6 bedroom move a breeze! I highly recommend these guys. From the office staff to the hard working movers. Everything about this company made my complicated move 10 easier than I ever expected thank to Sierra Moving! I WILL USE YOU IN THE FUTURE read more

I moved to Springfield from Colorado and had never hired movers before. My movers in Denver were awesome and I expected the same service from Sierra. I was pretty disappointed. I had arranged the move-in to our second floor apartment about 2 weeks in advance and scheduled the movers 4:00 PM as we were driving in. They called me the day of the move to inform me that a crew had finished early and would be able to meet us around 1:00 PM, which was great as we would be in Springfield around noon. Everything was running smoothly until they hadn't shown up by 3:00 PM. I called them at 3:00 and was informed that "they just left and are on their way". and they should be there in 30 minutes or less. At about 4:30 PM I received a call from the driver informing me that "they were on their way". The 2 drivers showed up around 5:00 PM and when I told them about the 3:00 PM "they just left and are on their way" conversation, the driver got defensive and said "well we're here now". Needless to say it kind of went down hill from there. I instructed them to put all of the boxes in the spare bedroom to make it easier to sort. They also moved the furniture where I wanted it, etc. I didn't think I had to tell "professional movers" to stack the boxes somewhat neatly in the spare bedroom. After they left with our $$$ and a nice tip, I went into the bedroom and was shocked at how the boxes were put in the bedroom. There heavy boxes stacked on top of my "china - extra TLC" crates. My husband's suit "wardrobe box" was on its side. It was ridiculous. Needless to say, I did have a couple of items broken in the move, which has NEVER happened to me before. The other negative is that both the driver and his helper were complaining incessantly about their bosses while they were unloading our truck. They were not professional and even told me they were considering quitting. Not a great representative of the company. I don't plan on moving for quite some time but will not hire them again and would not recommend them. read more

The only reason this company gets one star from us is because the actual movers worked their tails off. They were friendly and did the best they could under the circumstances. However, this company overall is unprofessional and unreliable. First of all, we were guaranteed two trucks on moving day and only one showed up. The first truck, not knowing yet that the 2nd truck wasn't coming, took an hour break for lunch. This company is paid by the hour. No second truck and an hour break for lunch leads to a higher bill for us. However, this wasn't even the biggest issue. The bigger problem was all the damage to our furniture, walls, door jams, and the hardwood stairs. At the end of the day, this company did compensate us 2 hours of work due to the second truck never showing up and they reassured us that they take pride in their work and would send someone out within a few days to repair all the damage done to the wood stairs and furniture. This is where things get sketchy. A week goes by and we never hear from the company. We call and a very apologetic lady answers the phone. She seems surprised that we haven't heard from anyone yet and reassures us that someone will be in touch with us before the end of the day. In the meantime, we continue to call back but get no answer. Another week goes by and we decide to stop by in person but they are ironically closed for lunch. We wait an hour and call back. No answer. We immediately call back from a different phone and to our surprise someone answers. They tell us that the reason no one has been answering our calls is because their phone wasn't working and now the person we needed to talk to about the repairs is ironically out for the rest of the weekend. However, they reassured us, again, that we'd get a call on Monday. Another week goes by and we still haven't heard from this company. In the meantime, we've been calling and ALL of our calls continue to go unanswered. It is obvious that this company is avoiding our calls and has ZERO intentions of coming out to repair the damage that they've done. Do not hire this company! They are unprofessional and unreliable. They lack integrity and cannot be trusted. read more

Wow...called this firm two years ago for a move, and it was more like talking to "bubba the moving dude" than a professional firm. They could not answer any of my questions, refused to provide me references, and dispite the price seemed like a "craigslist" kind of moving company. The biggest issue was the way they stumbled on my questions regarding who would move me, had they been screened or drug tested or where did they have criminal background. The response was "why are you asking questions like that". Why??? Becuase everything I own they will handle and have in a truck...that's why!!! read more

I used them in July to move. I had a lot of stuff. One guy was experienced, the other was just learning. The experienced guy was pretty good--he showed the other one how to use the blankets to avoid scraping the walls and such. I did have broken bed frame, they say they are coming out to fix it today. But the main complaints I had about them were: 1. They didn't ask me before they just started packing up and started to leave. As a result, there were a lot of items left behind in the house that I had to move myself. Maybe the truck was too full, I don't know, but they could have told me that. 2. I told them things that were staying and things that were leaving and they sometimes mixed the two up. I wish they would have checked with me first, but not a huge deal. 3. The new guy was the one mainly bringing in the boxes, and when they were done, the boxes were all piled up in front of my bed so that I couldn't even get into my bedroom. I literally had to climb over the bed. And I have a bad back, so I couldn't move them myself. Why couldn't they just put them against the wall instead of the middle of the room? And then there were some things clearly marked for a certain room that ended up in the wrong place. But the good things about them were: 1. They were cheaper than other places I had checked and 2. They were fast. So if you want to sacrifice quality for price and efficiency, I would go with them. Just keep a close eye on them. Better training before sending men out would be a plus. read more
