Beware. Worst experience with a moving company EVER. The movers they sent had been working there less than 2 days. My brand new furniture is ruined. Missing tool box with brand new craftsman tool set. They moved art pictures OUTSIDE and leaned them against a dirty moving container then said "We don't move pictures. Crazy a moving company that moves property OUTSIDE but refused to load and move. This company also can't move boxes if they aren't closed completely. So hired movers couldn't complete the job. We ended up having to move 2 puck up loads ourselves after paid movers failed us and now the items they did move are destroyed. Sent less than professionals who damaged my brand new King bed, my electric sofa, dining table and a chair, vanity, and stole our property. They had to replace a worker who got upset after we had to chase them 3 times as they were trying to leave without completely moving our stuff so apparently the boy they sent got upset when facts were spoken by a woman so he was shooing me away and actually stated he is NOT talking to me. We ended up hiring this company that boast of using professionals yet now we have brand new furniture that Is damaged and destroyed. The company ignores me. I called several times with no answer and then immediately called from another # and the phone was picked up right away. Totally unprofessional read more

THIS COMPANY WAS AWFUL. They were 3 hrs late to our move. We closed our house and they were supposed to be there at 1 and they didn't get there till 4 pm!!! They kept telling my husband they are on their way. When they arrived, 1 guy looked decent. They didn't look clean or put together. In the moving process, they left a large scratch in the floor of the house we used to live in. Very noticeable. 0 stars. I would never use them again.... read more

The Moving Company - Movers Near Me - Springfield, Missouri

We used "the moving company" and put most household items into storage while we finished a build. The packing and moving was unprofessional in more ways than I can list here. Now that we are finally moved in and have unboxed every single item. I know that certain entire boxes are missing. I'm disappointed. Any company that offers you a discount when your paying them - to leave a good review? Unprofessional. Your paying for a review. Don't use this company. read more

This company charges their hourly rate for travel time (coming and going) in addition to the actual time of the move. Obscene!!!

We used this company for a long distance move within 200 miles. They only used plastic wrap to wrap my furniture and did not use pads on all of the furniture as requested. They also neglected to strap down one of my inherited pristine pieces of furniture and it fell in the truck damaging it. They offered to fix it. I paid full price and a generous tip. We are almost 3 months later and they still have not coordinated a company to fix my furniture. They have struggled to contact a company in my area (out of town) to do this work. It is to the point now where they have asked me to coordinate finding someone who can do the work. I would not recommend. I am very disappointed in the outcome of this move. read more

My fault for not conducting due diligence before hiring this company to move my household furniture. Fortunately I had disconnected appliances since they didn't have tools on their truck. Young inexperienced crew were unsure of how to use provided belts to carry heavy items. I gave them a blanket and showed them how to slide heavy items through doorways. The top half of the truck was vacant when they said they were full. A lot of vaping occurred on the job. Most disappointing was the damage to headboard, footboard, wood desk, nightstands, wood trim on my newly built home. They did retrieve broken furniture pieces from their truck before leaving. To their credit they paid for the repairs (as well as can be repaired) to the furniture by a professional furniture repair company. I found an outstanding company to complete my move: truck packed to the top, no damage and no vaping. read more

***Update*** Ted from the moving company called and offered back the tip we gave the movers. In his unending graciousness he advised that it would be contingent upon me updating my review, so I'll gladly update it to let everyone know that they so thoughtfully offered only the tip back to us. But you know, the whole situation still left a really bad taste in my mouth so I called Mike to further complain. I didn't want anything from it, just to explain to someone running the company how it looks from a customer standpoint. And did Mike apologize? Of course not. He hopped up on his soap box to preach at me about WHY their company is so great... I'm sorry, did that really help even acknowledge what I said? I obviously don't think your company's great and nobody even apologized so you TELLING me your company is great doesn't make me believe it. And further more, good customer service would have been letting me bitch. Showing empathy. Acting like it actually mattered instead of just being defensive. Mike did none of that. He grandstanded and bragged about how his customer service is so good, he gets tips just for doing bids. A big round of applause for Mike everyone. I was seriously disappointed at the entitlement and unhelpfulness of the company. I was fine with the refund they offered and had hoped someone would even listed to our complaints but instead Mike acted like I was the ass. I would never recommend them. They could have 100% turned this around with a better approach to my complaint. I didn't ask for a refund, they offered one, which was kind, however I didn't get an actual apology. Money can't buy good customer service apparently. ***Original*** My husband and I used The Moving Company this past Thursday for a last minute, unplanned move due to a leak. I will say Mike was helpful in getting us scheduled quickly, and he did offer a competitive price - however when my movers showed up they were only scheduled for an hour and that is not what I wanted. I don't think Mike understood what I was saying as he was in a hurry for our conversation initially it seemed like. I understand being busy, but when he was supposed to call and confirm the details on Wednesday he didn't call. I called Thursday morning and was able to confirm we were on the schedule but I didn't talk to Mike so I had no idea what the expectation was. Then when our movers did arrive we got two surly, grumpy guys that rushed us and acted like WE were the inconvenience. They rushed us so badly that they didn't even get half of our stuff. We've had to do that ourselves. They tried rolling my wooden table across a gravel parking lot, kept asking if that was all when it obviously wasn't everything, complained and in general they were hateful and rude. We tipped them $50 and we should t have because they certainly didn't earn it. I just don't ever want to be rude so we did. I obviously would have paid more but I wasn't going to argue with what should have been professional movers about their job. After all that, I would say pay the extra for Two Men and a Truck. Customer service wins over money for me any time and I would not use this service or recommend them again. My husband is disabled and we ended up having to pretty much do half of it ourselves. After paying them to do it. read more

I recently used THE MOVING CO. of Springfield MO for a move I was doing from Nixa Missouri to another city. In Nixa, I hired them to help load the moving container that was parked in my driveway. That day, during the loading, many mistakes were made - some known to me, others unknown. Later, after delivery and unloading (different city), I was able to assess the overall situation, and documented everything with photographs. I called the company and initially spoke with Mike House (Sales Mgr.) and he assured me he would let the owners know of my dilemma. I emailed everything to them as documentation along with a letter explaining my concerns and asking that they remedy the situation and do the right thing. I was reasonable and calm about it; but upset also. I had damaged furniture and a couple pieces were beyond repair / not usable. I explained that I hoped this would be a learning moment for both the owners, management and the moving team members themselves. The photos really supplemented the explanation. The goal being that this would be avoided in the future. Moving is such a stressful time and to add additional stress is very unfortunate, especially when it's avoidable. The owner listened to my concerns and we came to an agreement. He did the right thing. He made it right. Simple as that - and for that reason I post this positive review of THE MOVING CO. in Springfield, Missouri. The owners do care. I have to think this was an anomaly, given all their positive reviews of their business from previous customers. That is why I chose them. Ultimately, my move did not transpire as I had hoped and planned for; due to circumstances beyond my control - but with cooperation from management and the owners at THE MOVING CO. of Springfield, MO, a favorable outcome resulted, thankfully, given everything considered. I appreciate what they did. That matters a lot, in my book. read more

This is a great small business in the Springfield area. They do a great job with customer service. We had to move on Easter weekend for the first of the month take over on a rental. I called from a card I was given, talked to Mike and we made tentative plans. I gave him my email and it was quick work from there to get them hired. I got all my questions answered, I was able to make some requests and a I got a bid. They were excellent to work with - especially for a weekend holiday move. The movers showed up on time, took a quick walk through of what to load and went straight to work. They will do it all - but I helped get things closer to the door since this is an hourly service. My best advice is preparation because they work FAST. They were careful with all the boxes and used plenty of blankets and bracing around the wood items. Have it boxed and ready to go, take apart things like the dining room table and be ready to stay out of the way! Two guys moved almost an entire house within just a few hours. We did not have far to move but they still followed protocol on transporting goods. This group is by-the-book and I will recommend them every time. Good work, fellas. read more

I chose this moving company for a basic 3 bed 2 bath local move because of it's high Google reviews...better than any other moving company in my area. Unfortunately, my experience with them did not warrant the same high review. It was a bad experience, primarily due to poor management and planning on their part. I was not provided with the number of movers that I was told when I spoke with the manager on the phone just the day before. After getting to my home on move day...and one man short...they determined that their truck was not big enough to complete the move in one trip. Furthermore, they said they would not be able to do a second trip that day AND was not available the next day. So, I was left on move day having to scramble to try to find a company who could finish the move the following day...at a time of year where booking weeks in advance was necessary. I was in a time crunch and had to be moved that weekend. This was an unacceptable position for me to be put in. All I got from this company was a "sorry" and a refusal of any compensation for their screw-up. I have learned that high reviews are NOT a guarantee of the kind of service I will receive. Much better to go with a word-of-mouth recommendation, even if that recommended company has lower reviews than another. Lesson learned. One of those companies stepped-up and came to my rescue at that last minute. Not only that, they were less expensive AND organized the mess of boxes The Moving Company just dumped in rooms and garage at my new home. The second company went above and beyond! On a final note about The Moving Company...my freshly painted walls were nicked up and scraped in numerous places...not good. Finally, one of the two movers showed an attitude almost the entire time like he would rather be anywhere else, doing anything else, than his job that day. Unprofessional to say the least. Very disappointed in The Moving Company, Springfield, Missouri. read more

The Moving Company showed up as scheduled and executed a whole-house move for my daughter and her family...a 6 block move...from one Subdivision to another. My beef is HOW DID THIS MOVE TAKE 6 plus HOURS???? Daughter doesn't even own a refrigerator! 2 beds, a washer and dryer, 2 couches and a kitchen table...plus boxed items (max 20). Slow pokes, just trying to rack up the rate total. I was not there to ride their a-----s, so I cannot really complain formally to the company. However, I will NEVER USE THIS MOVING COMPANY AGAIN. BEWARE. - they are PIDDLERS. I will go back to my old stand by, Two Men and a Truck next time! read more

I had a really had a good experience. The movers were nice and kept to the time that was quoted. I had several stairs entering my apartment and would have like to have seen more care when it came to my fragile items though none of my items were broken. Would highly recommend. read more

I came into town to help my friend move in and the moving company that she hired never showed up and they kept jerking her around. In addition I heard the conversations she had with the owner and he was extremely unprofessional. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

You guys are amazing! The gentlemen you sent to move my daughter were very friendly and personable. They introduced themselves, shook our hands and then got right to work. They even unhooked and rebooked washer and dryer set up bed, carried in and set up a new couch I had in my truck, hauled all boxes and furniture and they were done in one hour! She moved from 2nd floor apt to a 1st floor in same building, but they still over exceeded my expectations. read more

You judge a service business by how committed they are to great customer service! You judge a person by how they treat you when there is nothing "in it" for them. I called looking for movers and Will answered. TMC was booked the day I needed help. Instead of hanging up Will indulged my questions and recommended someone who could help me. I called and I got my movers. TMC will always be my first call from here on out! read more

This is the best company ever! Mike House was wonderful and responsive when providing my estimate. The movers that came were Tony and Nathan. They were professional and very respectful of us and our possessions. They went out of their way to provide the best service I have ever had from a moving company. If I ever need moving services again you can be certain this is the only company I will ever use. Thank you so much for making this the best experience ever!!! read more

They moved me March 3rd. The worst move I have ever experienced and I've had a lot of moves. Not much was wrapped in blankets scratching on my bamboo chairs, washer door messed up. Basically my things were thrown in the truck. Please think twice before using this company. read more

Moving is almost always a stressful experience for me, but I sure am glad that we went with The Moving Company on our recent move. At first, I had another mover in town give me a quote, but after receiving their quote I decided to get a quote from The Moving Company. Not only did Mike do a fantastic job of delivering a fair quote quickly, he also offered some tips on how to make the move easier on moving day. I am the type of person that likes to prepare for the worst-case scenario, and Mike was very confident, patient and friendly in answering all my questions. On moving day, the movers called ahead to let us know that they had finished their previous move a little early and would be able to start on our move earlier if we wanted, but that they would be happy to wait until the original time if that worked better for us. I told them to come on over since I was already anxious to get started and they showed up soon after. This is where things get interesting. If you have ever bought or sold a home you will probably understand the "unexpected turn of events" that can often happen related to home closings. We had planned to move our furniture the day before closing on our home that we were selling. The plan was to store our stuff overnight and have it delivered the next day in the afternoon after we closed. The purchase of our new home was contingent on the selling of our old home. The lender for our buyers was CITI (Boo! Hiss!) and had not given our agent the official "clear to close" that we were hoping to have BEFORE the day of closing. That never happened. When the movers arrived, I alerted them that we had not got a 100% confirmation on the closing. I asked what would happen if we were not able to close the next day and had nowhere to move. The movers said this would not be a problem-- but I would have to pay a storage fee for each night my stuff was on their truck. They also advised that it might be more cost effective to consider renting a U-Haul truck and have them load it for me. I was hopeful that we would be able to get a firm closing date, so I opted to go ahead and pay their nightly storage fee (a very fair price!) and hope for the best. After I made that decision, Jonathan & Tim started loading up the truck. These two guys were not only extremely professional and exceptionally friendly, they were some of the hardest working guys I have ever seen. They took great care in loading all of our furniture and boxes, and they ensured that a few specific sentimental items got some extra care in loading. I found out about 30 minutes before they finished loading up everything that we would not be able to close the next day. I felt really bad about this, since I knew this would probably cause them issues, since their truck would not be able to be used until I had a firm delivery date. Jonathan assured me not to worry, and he told me that he hoped everything worked out for me. I can honestly say that his sincerity shone through, and it did make me feel better about the situation. Our whole closing was touch and go for a few days, but the communication with Mike at The Moving Company was outstanding. We finally were able to close 5 days after the original closing date, and Mike was able to get our stuff delivered to us the next day. The day of unloading was such a relief. Mike, Jonathan and Henry showed up and unloaded everything carefully and with such gusto that I was simply blown away by their customer service! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this excellent company. They go out of their way to make your move a positive experience and they really care about their customers. Thank you Moving Company, you guys rock! read more

Moving can be such a stressful event. We chose The Moving Company to help us. We are so glad we did. They told us they would arrive at 8 am. They arrived right on time. We were greeted by Travis and Nate. Travis greeted us with a great smile and asked if we were excited that it was moving day. Travis and Nate were enthusiastic and very personable. They took a tour of our home, explained the process, gave us an estimated time of their service. Then they began to move our stuff onto the truck. The entire process went from 8am-2pm. The entire process was FUN! Strange, I know, to use such a word, but they made the move a GREAT experience. Chatting, joking and through it all, it actually felt like we had been friends for a long time and they were just helping us out. Our family has hired 3 different company's in our past moves. This company, by far, was the BEST! Prices were great. The team was great! As they were finishing up unloading at new house, the Operation Manager, Mike, stopped by to ask how move was going and if we were happy. I cannot stress how impressed we were with this company. As I commented above, moving can be stressful enough BUT if you want a company that lessens your stress, treats your belongings like it's theirs........hire The Moving Company! I promise you will not regret it! Customer service is beyond amazing. To Travis, Nate and Mike, thank you for an incredible job. read more
