Appointments are often rescheduled, making it difficult to plan or take time off work with confidence. The biggest issue has been billing. Estimated charges rarely match the final cost, and it often feels like a bait-and-switch--services are approved based on one estimate, only to later be told insurance doesn't cover them. We've had the same insurance for years, so inaccurate quotes for things like composite fillings are frustrating and avoidable. This used to be a place we trusted and recommended, but we stopped going some time ago, and after today, my wife has decided she's done as well.

Everyone apart of this office is very friendly, but still very professional! From the way the speak, the way they are dressed, & how elaborate the staff is on explaining mouth care & medication directions post surgery! Dr Schrager is an incredible dentist, he does all the proper measures of sanitation, always makes me feel comfortable with his superb level of cleanliness as well while doing dental work! Dr, Summer, Ana & all his staff are always connecting with patients & it shows how thoughtful, aware, concerned & in tuned they all are! I value that so much cause it shows their level of service & actually care about anyone who steps foot in their office! I recently got my wisdom teeth removed, & was SO nervous! I thought it would hurt so much, but Dr Schrager numbed up my mouth after he knew it was ready to go & within almost less than 2 minutes both my top wisdom teeth I needed gone were OUT! I couldn't believe how fast he was, & how embarrassed I felt for being so nervous for only having to lay there for 2 minutes of my life. I was THRILLED I didn't feel a thing, it was so quick. I thought the next following days I'd be in pain, & be hurting, & I felt wonderful! Was at work the next day ready to go working a double! I followed the proper measures I was encouraged to do by the staff & everything healed up beautifully! Also the view from the office is always enjoyable to be staring at the Sherwins , you forget that you have Dr and assistants with metal tools in your mouth!, Always will & forever be the best dental practice I have ever stepped foot in! Although I don't have any pain, I wanted to see what a 'professional' dentist says. I found this clinic, not through referral or recommendation, but from a flyer I received in the mail. Once there, I completed their forms - the usual things we do as a new patient. They suggested a cleaning so I said yes. Since I had a complete mouth X-ray several months back, I urged them not to take any more X-rays. While I was waiting, I overheard the dentist telling the patient before me that she needed extensive work, but all that could be done the same day. With that much work, I was impressed. In my mind, I'm hoping that I won't need as much work as that poor lady. After waiting sometime, I was called in for a cleaning. The dental hygienist, Jessica was pleasant, professional and understanding. (4.5 of 5) When my turn came for the dentist to see me, he mentioned the amount of work I needed. He didn't spend much time with me, yet he was quick to diagnose the problems. I was in disbelief. My shock must have shown on my face when he said that. A red flag popped up in my head. I clearly just heard him say the same lines to the lady before me. "This is what you need. We can do the work the same day but you need someone to drop you off and pick you up. It'll take about four hours." The dentist then said Suzanne will go over the cost with me. I was shown into another room, and several minutes later, wearing a white coat, Suzanne came into the room. Imagine how dumbfounded I was when Suzanne said it'll cost seven thousand two hundred and fifty-three dollars for the work. I asked if I really need all that work done. She said she can give me $158 discount, and not charge for the sedation, but it'll still be over seven thousand dollars. I checked myself out with the breakdown of the work and said I'll think it over. I reached out to Golden Hill via email to see which tooth or teeth need immediate attention. I didn't hear back. (1 of 5) Needless to say, I opted for a second opinion. The dentist I went to mentioned that none of the work requires immediate attention, but I should watch out for any signs of pain or discomfort. I am glad I got a second opinion. I am flabbergasted that Golden Hills Dental has such little empathy for their patients. To that end, I'm glad they did not see fit to respond to my email.

So I showed up, hearing whispers between the staff in the back (no one is ever at the desk to greet you). Then Dr. Overholtzer comes out and says I should seek care elsewhere. Fine. But to purposely not notify me of this prior to showing up was just petty. Also the 'consults' were over the top. It's really weird to have your dentist want to do a therapy session with you & not just take care of your teeth.

Dr. Deric evaluated and confirmed it needed two be done. Two lactation consultants and our pediatrician also said it needed to be done. They have a private waiting room which was nice because it's a troubling procedure, but it needed to be done. The staff was great and Dr. Deric explained that she might need a second revision done. Sure enough two weeks later it had started healing together so we went back. After the second procedure I went to the desk to pay and the receptionist said there was no charge. Dr. Deric came out and said that he felt not charging for this second visit was the right thing to do. I had my credit card in hand and was happy to pay. I felt like a friend more than a customer. After the first and second procedure he texted he asking if we needed anything and how my baby was feeling. If I didn't live 90 minutes away I would go to him for all of our dentistry needed.
