I rented at Sierra Mini Storage for seven years. In the beginning it was wonderful. The price was incredibly inexpensive for the quality of the place.
A couple years ago it sold. We weren't informed that it had sold, and we were not asked if we were still OK with our credit card information being held on file for automatic payments. They just did it.
The quality of the care of the facility drastically decreased as soon as the new owner took over. That's actually what got my attention and got me to ask what was going on.
To start with there are homeless people that live in the storage units from open to close. They leave empty beer cans, and bottles of alcohol all over the facility. They have heaters and fans plugged in and really do live in those hallways.
Last year September, 2022 I went to my storage unit to see mouse poop everywhere! There were mice running around in the building and in every unit you could hear them and see them there were so many. It was absolutely disgusting.
I had to bring it to the attention of the employees because they hadn't noticed at all!
Even though the walls at the entry of the storage units were lined with mouse poop. They didn't inform any of the tenants. I have several friends who used to rent there and they were not informed. The only thing they offered was one month free rent, and only to me for noticing.
I had to throw away about 1/3 of the belongings in my unit, even though there was no food or anything like that.
When I asked for the owners information, the employees on site absolutely refused to give it to me- even just his name. I left my information, and was hoping the Owner would get in touch with me, but that information was apparently never passed to him.
I went on a Sunday morning to remove some items from the unit and sanitize them, and once again asked to have the owner contact me. I was met with the worst employee I have ever met. The woman's name is Sierra, and she is an absolute nightmare of a customer service employee. Not only did this woman yell at me she called me a bitch and told me to get the f*#k out. All because I was requesting the owner please contact me.
I had informed her that I had an allergic reaction to the mouse feces all over everything in my unit, and that I would like to speak to the owner to see what was being done to remedy this issue in the facility. She claimed to be his personal secretary. It was confirmed the very next morning by both of her coworkers she is not. She followed me out into the public area yelling at me in front of other renters.
I have never heard from the owner about the mice or the disrespectful customer service employee. I absolutely cannot believe she still works there.
The next day I brought legal representation with me to help me with the situation because they were giving me absolutely no assistance or information. The employee talked down to my legal representation and wouldn't even talk to her after claiming she worked in the legal field. (But did admit Sierra lied and they had her on camera following me yelling).
They tried to blame the mouse infestation on anything and everything.
It has been months and I have never received a call from the owner or any communication.
They never notified anyone about the mouse infestation, and there are sticky traps with mice on them screaming and mouse poop everywhere months later!
It's absolutely disgusting and it's not a tenant issue. California state law says that rodent infestation is the owners issue.
The brunette Mary at the front is the only saving grace this place has at all. She is incredibly sweet. Unfortunately, she has to put up with horrible coworkers and an absent owner who apparently doesn't care. I would not send my worst enemy to rent from them.
My unit is empty and even after sweeping, vacuuming and sanitizing my entire unit just a few months ago there's mouse poop everywhere again. Do not rent from them. read more
