Several people I know had great experiences there, but unfortunately, mine was not. I scheduled an appointment with Wendy two weeks in advance. I arrived five minutes early and texted her number to check in, per the directions posted in the front lobby. When I told the other stylists I was there for Wendy, they seemed a little frantic, looking out the front windows at the parking lot. I overheard them saying they texted her, and she had forgotten about the appointment. This set a negative tone for the visit. Wendy showed up 10-20 minutes late and seemed unprepared. She claimed our conversation had disappeared from her phone, which didn't make sense since I had texted her just four days prior about my cut and color idea. We decided on a balayage over text. During the appointment, she made comments about missing a chiropractor appointment ("That isn't happening now! Oh well!"), making me feel like an inconvenience as I sat in her chair. The interactions as a whole throughout the appointment were awkward and seemed rude at times. The color for the balayage was left in my hair for only 20 minutes. I questioned this since it seemed too short, but she insisted it was done. The sink setup was uncomfortable for me, as I'm petite and had to strain my neck. When I asked if the chair could be adjusted, she told me the sink could be adjusted and that I could do it myself. When my hair was finished, there was no noticeable difference aside from the cut. I asked family and friends for their opinions, and they couldn't see a difference either. Comparing an old photo with my new look, it was clear there was not $170 worth of change. The balayages on Wendy's Instagram looked neat and impressive, but mine didn't turn out how I'd hoped , as if she rushed through it. For $170, a balayage should be noticeable. Instead, I got barely visible highlights and a prominent streak on one side of my head. I'm very disappointed and won't be returning to this stylist. I chose to pay and leave rather than make a fuss and risk further disappointment. I paid Wendy $200 because that was what I had planned to give her, despite the poor service. I came for a pampering, stress-free experience but left feeling worse. There may be other talented stylists at Trendsetters, and perhaps Wendy usually does great work, but I seem to have caught her on a bad day. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that I won't be returning to this salon in the future.
