Would've put 0 stars if I could, I went to Sid's auto "repair" a few years ago because my truck was misfiring and I couldn't figure out the problem for the life of me, they looked at it and said I need a new engine because "there's metal shavings in your oil" i didn't believe it for a second and little did they know I grew up wrenching on cars so I went home drained the oil and not a spec of metal in the oil or the oil filter, few weeks later I went to Jeff's automotive and they found out it was just a bad lifter on cylinder seven charged me 100$ to fix it, I've now put over 25 thousand miles on my "blown engine" and not a single problem since, all they want to do is drain every penny out of you and not actually FIX THE PROBLEM!, I hope they hired some better mechanics since then if not I wouldn't even send my worst enemy to this shop. read more

I went to Sid's because it was recommended to me by a family member. My car's check engine light came on and it was the P0171 code; fuel trim system lean. I called Sid's and they told me it would be $40 for a diagnostic check, so I said sure and brought my car in about a day or two later. They took about 4 hours to get back to me after the 1 hour diagnostic they ran. They told me what the issue was with my vehicle, then proceeded to tell me the total for my diagnostic check would be $150. I told them that I was told the diagnostic would be $40 and they said: "Alright we can get it down to $80, how does that sound?". I wasn't going to continue going back and forth with the guy so I said screw it and paid the $80. I ended up buying the parts I need for the repair for $200 on Amazon and called Sid's back to get a quote on just the labor. I was put on hold and when they came back to the phone I was told that they would call me RIGHT back but they never did. I called 15 minutes before they closed and the shop was already closed for the day. All in all, they tried charging me $850 plus tax and fees for parts & labor for a job I only had to pay $250-$300 for with parts & labor. These guys suck and will try to clam you out of every penny if you don't know any better. read more

My truck needed work. I dropped it off and was quoted 550. I went to pick it up and they told me 750. I told him about my original quote. Then he said he'd re-crunch the numbers and said 650. Sure, that's fine. I asked, what happened to cause the increase in price?, he didn't have an answer. He "crunched" the numbers again and said 600. This guy was making up numbers right in front of me. Zero merit. Just wanted to see how much he could get out of me. I don't trust this place. Never went back. read more

TRUSTWORTHY!!! Have been taking both my cars there for a while now and I couldn't be more satisfied with their service. They are HONEST, do quality work and get it done pretty quick! Parts of my car are held together with duct tape, mind you it is strong duct tape...that metallic foil stuff. When I take my car to Sid for a repair they never try to hard sell me for things that don't need to be done to it. They just make sure the car works and understand that I don't need it to look good, just to perform well. They make sure it's safe and it runs, they aren't trying to sell me some flush or other procedure that is entirely unnecessary. I have never felt that the cost has been out of line and they complete the work when they say they will. And I can walk there. read more

I have been taking our old Ford Focus to Sid's for several years now and have had great experiences. They are very accomodating in making a booking for any sort of auto repair and their quotes are always spot on. Pretty quick turn-around times, coupled with good pricing makes for an easy auto repair experience in my book. I'm a big fan of these guys and recommend them to all. I'm so disappointed about my recent experiences at Sid's. With all the great Yelp reviews and the unbeatable location (just blocks from my home), I really hoped I had found a reliable, honest mechanic. Not the case. I've taken my car to Sid's three times in the past few months and I waited to write this review hoping that things would be different the next time, but I've had three negative experiences. On one occasion, I was quoted a price of $1000 for a repair, called around to compare, had my husband call back because I was busy, and he was told they could do the repair for $500. Fishy, no? I had my a/c completely replaced and a few months later it didn't work again. I was told I'd have to pay for more repairs... huh? After some arguing and some backtracking on their part, they decided the repair to the repair would "be on them." I'll be continuing my search for a mechanic I feel I can trust... and hopefully one that offers female customers the same respect as male customers. read more

No matter where you live in or around Milwaukee, Sid's is where it's at for fixing your car! Because I was in a pinch I'd used Sid's before, on a whim, to patch a flat tire. They were so helpful (working me in on a moments notice and charging only a small fee) I decided to give them a go for a couple of oil changes and a diagnostic on an exhaust rattle that was becoming progressively worse. These mechanics are GREAT! Not only did they get me in for 2 very reasonably priced oil changes in 2 days, (allowing me to juggle the use of the cars on my schedule) they also checked out and fixed the exhaust rattle for next to nothing. On top of it all, they did a comprehensive inspection of my vehicles, both explaining to me when I came in to pay and listing on my bill the future work that each car might need to keep it in good order as well as when/how long until those repairs would become "critical" and estimates of what they would cost. Thanks Sid's for saving me time and money. You know I'll be back and I'm saving that 5th star for some big ticket work that will really test your tech skills. read more

My wife accidentally locked her key inside our car with our 8 month old baby inside with the car in the garage on an 80 degree day (accidents happen). I called Sid's as they're down the street and they immediately stopped what they were working on to come and help. Adam had our car unlocked in less than 10 minutes from when I called. I highly recommend Sid's! I took my Toyota to the dealership in West Allis for a routine oil change only to get a call with a list of about 7 things wrong totaling over $1,000!!! My car had been running fine so I took it to Sid's for a second opinion and they told me I did not need any of that stuff done! Also I live nearby and see the employees working late into the night. Had some issues with my Honda 2002 making a crappy sound which even an auto ignoramus like me knew wasn't right. Went to Ramsey's Auto and got quoted a ridiculous amount for fixing my car. I knew I smelled a rat and decided to look for advise for another repair service. I went to Sid's and after spending some time checking EVERYTHING in my car, it turned out that the culprit for the noise was one thingamajig rubbing against another thingamajig, and stuff. The man (I believe his name was Dan, I thought his name would be Sid) did something, and the noise went away! He also did an oil change and wrote out ALL the issues and non issues with my car, explained what needs to be done, when, and how much it would cost. He didn't try to lie about a life threatening situation on the road if I don't replace my lower control arm, and didn't lie about struts needing to be replaced, like Ramsey's did. Everything cost me $30, and I walked away super happy. Great place, and I can see they are honest mechanics by not trying to sell me an arm and a leg under the guise of it being necessary. Update: went in for an oil change ($30, which also includes a wellness check). When I picked it up he told me that everything was fine and wrote out some minor things that I already knew and which weren't a big deal. There were no "yeah...hehe...you have this issue and it will cost you $500 to fix." On the way out he gave me some treats for my pup which was waiting outside and couldn't wait for mom to come out. I just moved this week from Nashville -- and my car began giving me trouble and of course I was terrified not knowing which auto repair shop would giving me honest, solid work... Great experience with Sid's. The guys were attentive and helpful. They did the pretty extensive job in less than a day's time and our car is running better than I can remember. I don't know what magic they worked exactly, but not only is the original problem fixed but other minor unrelated (?) issues seem to have diminished as well. About a month ago I passed through Milwaukee on my way to Chicago and I can truly say that they have some Great People working there, I had just bought a ford focus and was having some vibrations at high speed and when breaking, since I was in a hurry they scheduled me for that same afternoon and did their best to help...and they did, they also gave me some general pointers about things I should be aware of, they balanced my tires and checked the breaks and set me on my way. They've always done a fantastic job of interpreting my descriptions of various mechanical failures and solving the actual problems (that often differ from my descriptions). I have gone to Sids for my issues many times and everything they have done, I never had the problem again. I've been having an issue with a tire that I purchased at another location and with the lock down I didn't know if auto shops were open. I called the original place I bought the tire and they were closed until further notice so, I called Sids to see if they were open. It was Saturday and they are not open but it thought maybe a prerecorded message would tell me if they are or not. Well, Adam answered, I told him my situation and he said they were open Monday. He asked about my tire issues and since he was at the shop, he could check it for me. I took my car there, he checked it and fixed it. He explained what was wrong, which was a nail, and he didn't even charge me. This is why I continue to go with them, they do a great job without trying to take advantage, especially someone like me who know nothing about cars, every job they have done is complete and you never have to go to them again unless it's a new issue. They work with you to get you the best service and deal. Women this message is for you. If you don't know anything about cars Sids is a reliable and trustworthy auto shop you can't count on. In sept. 2014 the idler bolt broke on my car. They replaced it and stayed a little past closing to allow me to pick up the car. That was good. Then about a month later it broke again. I dropped off the car around 8 and asked if they would get to it today, they said they would. I called throughout the day to see if progress was made. Around 2pm They told me the car was in the building and about to be worked on. I drove by around 4:30pm, and the car was in the same place on the street where I had left it 8 hours earlier. So they lied to me throughout the day about the progress. I took the car elsewhere. The other mechanic actually figured out why the bolt was breaking instead of just replacing the bolt. read more

They have been very courteous and fast for non-meaningful concerns. Don't let anyone work on your car but Sid. 3 folks I know and including me had issues after having a tune-up! They fix for a fair or cheap price- a "quick fix" that is...... but don't tell you what you need in the long run!! Been screwed by them many a time! As a woman, I'm used to mechanics trying to sell me parts or convince me that repairs "really need to be done" under the assumption that I don't know any better or don't understand what they're talking about. I took my car to Sid's for a second opinion, my guards up - expecting the same kind of treatment. It was such a relief to be spoken to honestly and candidly about what did -and really didn't- need to be done. My car's repairs were made conveniently and at a very fair price (and for half of what the other guys wanted).
