This is one of my top 3 favorite places in SLC. Probably the freshest poke you'll find out here, but that's not even my go-to order. The *lilikoi pork*. My goodness, I have not had something like it anywhere else and I think about it often. We lived in Utah for 5 years and have been here dozens of times. Every time we go back to visit, we make sure to come here. Service is always 110%. We also love the furikake chicken and the crack mac is bomb. We usually opt for takeout but there's a clean dining area, just not very big. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out. This is the most authentic place we have ever been to. They treat you like family , it feels homey inside and the food cannot be compared!! We go at least once a week and every Aloha Thursday ! If you're hungrier I would def choose the two scoops of rice. Everything tasted so fresh and well made. I will say it's on the pricier side with my plate ringing up to about $20 but it's definitely worth a splurge here and there. The owners are legit Hawaiian and the food is as authentic as it comes for this. They also have a selection of Hawaiian juices. read more

This was our first time trying Side of Aloha. We went around 6pm on a Friday night so it was very busy. Every table was taken so we had to rush and grab one when someone left. It was definitely not quiet inside, but we could still have a conversation just fine. It probably took us 20 minutes to order, and another 20 minutes to get our food. To be honest, the food wasn't hot when it came out to us, but even with the wait and lukewarm food, it was STILL worth it. We got the strawberry lemonade and lilikoi lemonade. Both delicious! We ordered the SOA sweet steak and chicken teriyaki with a side of furikake fries and mac salad. The steak was cooked perfectly! It's served cubed, and it was my favorite dish for sure. I'll come back again and again just for that steak. The chicken teriyaki was also yummy! Super moist and the sauce was delish! The furikake fries were also yummy. A good mix of sweet and savory! I have been wanting to come here ever since it opened, but I switched jobs from working in Draper to downtown SLC. I finally got around to visiting last night, and I was hoping for poke. Sadly, they were sold out. The young lady who took my order needs some serious recognition. I believe her name was Nina. She was incredibly sweet, friendly, and helpful--a real gem. Don't let this employee go! (reason #1 for my up score) Disappointed with the lack of poke, I ordered teriyaki chicken, white rice, and crack mac. I wish I could say this was great, but it just wasn't. The chicken was barely warm. I needed a knife for it, but there were no knives with the plastic ware. My rice was a mushy ball of starch--too much water and overcooked; you couldn't even really see the grains of rice. I was very sad about my rice. I love rice. The one redeeming thing in my bowl was the crack mac (reason #2 for my up score). You guys. This was the BEST macaroni salad I've had in my entire life. I've tried many places and just about everywhere around here--Moki's, L&L, Mo Bettah, Lanikai Grill--this is the best mac salad I've ever had. So that's the good news: I will be back for amazing macaroni salad, and hope that they have poke (and better rice) on my next visit. For chicken, I'll stick to Mo Bettah's. Really good food, and definitely a step up from the cafeteria style places popping up all over. This place feels much more authentic than the chains out there and is worth stopping by if you're in the mood for Hawaiian. I had the Furikake Chicken and really like the creamy citrus sauce on it. They've got a lot of other options that I want to go back and try out too, including things that you don't regularly see at the chains like Liliko'i Pork and garlic edamame. I've always wanted to try the poke and I just never was coming on the right days I guess because it's usually sold out, well I started following them on instagram and they always post when they get their fresh ahi tuna in (usually tuesdays) and when I tell you this is the best poke in Utah I mean it! Ingredients were fresh, serving was bountiful and for the relatively simple ingredients in the Steak Poké; it was very refreshing and full filling (though I didn't eat the rice) and the steak was just the right amount of Medium to Medium Rare and not overcooked ked and chewy. I asked for extra meat and it doubled what was already a healthy portion of badassery - YEAH! Other dishes we got were the Furikake Chicken (which admittedly, I sampled) and the Liliko'i Pork (kids) which were both delicious upon my sampling the kids meals "to make sure they weren't poisoned" . The chicken batter was light and not oily and great citrus after taste and not overwhelming and the pork was flavorful as the sun! I had high hopes for Side of Aloha due to seeing all the reviews on Yelp, but for some reason I didn't leave satisfied or wanting more. I actually didn't finish my food (we ended up taking it home to eat). When we first got there, it was during a work day lunch hour rush and it was super busy. So my first tip is to not go during that time. It took about 30-45 minutes to get our food. It was so busy to the point where we asked if we could get our food to-go because there was no where to sit. I understand why the price is so much for poke because most places usually have to overnight the fish... But $16 for the small amount of poke was too much for me. They have only tuna, no salmon. We ordered the furikake fries and chicken, I liked the fries, and the chicken was okay. I wasn't expecting a sweet taste to it. I wasn't able to finish my meal, which is unfortunate. We also ordered spam musubi and I wasn't impressed. The spam was burnt and there was no flavor at all. I think they might have forgot to put sauce on it. Because of how far and expensive this place is, I don't think I would go again. But if you're in the area or if this is the only place you can go to that has poke in Draper, you should try it and see if you like it! read more
