Had a terrific meal here. Expensive to get a regular Grilled Pork Poke with a side of mac salad comes out to $19. I remember Utah being cheaper I guess. Fries are solid. Crispy. Warm. Long. No complaints there. The pork poke was delicious. Tender meat that was consistent throughout. Well cooked. Nothing burnt. Tasty sauce at the bottom to cover every bite and the rice. The Mac salad was terrific. Nice friendly service. Lots of mahalos. Plenty of seating inside. read more

I have been to Side of Aloha 4 times now and have had the great luck of having Chelsea as our server. She is the most personable, friendly, and caring server I have had in years. The food is always great, portions for the prices are on point, and when Kyle sings live, you can't help but feel the island vibes. Do yourself a favor and go to Side of Aloha now. read more

This is one of my top 3 favorite places in SLC. Probably the freshest poke you'll find out here, but that's not even my go-to order. The *lilikoi pork*. My goodness, I have not had something like it anywhere else and I think about it often. We lived in Utah for 5 years and have been here dozens of times. Every time we go back to visit, we make sure to come here. Service is always 110%. We also love the furikake chicken and the crack mac is bomb. We usually opt for takeout but there's a clean dining area, just not very big. If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out. And you should feel very lucky to have a restaurant like this out in the SLC suburbs. read more

Great little place This is a great little place when you're Ono for a Hawaiian plate lunch! It comes with 1scope rice for a mini and 2 scope rice for a regular plate! All sides - crack mac - Kim cover - toss salad - etc is extra. Protein is a good portion - we tried the furikake chicken and pulehu steak - both good . For me the furikake chicken had good flavor with a bit much on the outside breading - the pulehu steak was done perfectly! They are at a good location with plenty of parking. Food is cooked to order and is served hot. Staff is friendly. read more

The food here is good, fresh, and better than most Hawaiian bbq. I wasn't blown away necessarily, but I don't usually love Hawaiian bbq and thought this was pretty good. I got the furikake (breaded) chicken. The mini size is plenty of food for one meal, but get a regular if you want leftovers! read more

I'm here for lunch for the first time now that I get a full hour... it's packed! Imagine that! Still has a great vibe, good music and fantastic food. Did they add to the menu? Looks deeper... well I'm going to plan ahead next time. Felt the pressure from the line behind me I I ordered steak and rice with a side of cucumber kimchi and the did not disappoint. Just quality and quantity. Super happy with my meal. Just discovered there is a Saturday brunch. Will be checking in out. read more

The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Love, love, loved the lilikoi sauce on my grilled ahi! The cucumber kim chee was on point! Still crisp, not watery, and just the right amount of kick to it. Nice added touch with the grated carrots :) We will return to try dessert next time! A hui hou, malama pono. read more

Love this place. Best Hawaiian food in Utah. Super good service, vibes, and staff. Will be coming back.

This place is great! Came to lunch with some work colleagues and we each left completely impressed (and full)! My "grilled pork poke" bowl with cherry tomatoes and onions was absolutely delicious. Cannot wait to go back and try something else. read more

My only criticism of this place is that it's kind of outrageously expensive. I got poke nachos with a side of Mac salad for $32. The employee said it was because of the poke but FreshFin just down the road costs about half that. Yowza. I did LOVE my nachos though. I got the teriyaki poke and the sauce was exquisite. Great fish. I liked the texture of the chips. I don't know what the white sauce was but it was great too. I saw many good reviews of the crack Mac so I had to try it but didn't like it at all. Not because of anything being wrong with it... I just don't think olives belong in Mac salad. Interesting idea but it's a no from me. read more

Ambiance of the place is it's small inside and you are forced to sit on table as others. Which is odd. It was very crowded and so we had to wait to sit. The food was honestly very average and wasn't what I expected as my trips to Hawaii I was always floored by the amazing taste. Here it reminded me of the chicken bowl places out there. It was good buy but sure it I just got a basic item when maybe other food was better. Overall it's was good. read more

This is the most authentic place we have ever been to. They treat you like family , it feels homey inside and the food cannot be compared!! We go at least once a week and every Aloha Thursday ! I personally like the sliders, poke bowl and I order all the specials on aloha Thursday:) they have fresh tuna that they only serve the day it comes in strait from Hawaii! It is definitely an experience you want to have ! I would have a picture , but as soon as the food hits the table, hands are already in it ready to eat. read more

I will be the first person to admit that I don't love Hawaiian barbecue. Most places are pretty forgettable to me. (Looking at you Mo' Bettahs) HOWEVER I really really really really like Side of Aloha. Dare I say I even crave it? It's tastes fresh and fun and well done (not necessarily meat-wise, just quality-wise lol). Plus I like the vibe. It's fast enough without being full on fast food. And the owners are great!! The food here is amazing. I ordered the combo plate with SOA Steak and Shrimp Tempura. Both were so tasty and delicious. I loved the rice and Mac salad as well. If you're hungrier I would def choose the two scoops of rice. Everything tasted so fresh and well made. I will say it's on the pricier side with my plate ringing up to about $20 but it's definitely worth a splurge here and there. The owners are legit Hawaiian and the food is as authentic as it comes for this. They also have a selection of Hawaiian juices. read more

Sorry but when I'm paying nearly $20 for a bowl... I'd expect it to not be all fat. I don't mind paying $20 for quality but wow. I got 3 pieces of meat with actual meat on it. I tried the combo with pork and chicken... yikes. Two different types of meat both covered in fat? Even at Chipotle you get less fatty meat, lol! I really wanted to like this place... I don't see the hype and left feeling hungry and dissatisfied. Not good at all. Glad rice is free, that's probably all you'll enjoy. read more

Side of Aloha has a very cool vibe. Good music, good smells. The place is a bit small and few found a seat. PRO TIP: Look at the menu before you come. Looking at the menu in line on your phone is challenging. The font makes it hard to read. They did not have a menu to look at in line other then on your phone. Furikake Fries - 5 stars - sweet fried might sound weird to some but these where dynamite. A must have. My bride who does not like fries at more than I did. Teriyaki bowl - kids - 5 stars - good flavor. Would be good to make with a Mac salad to mix it up a bit. Garlic Shrimp - 5 stars - We did not see it on the menu but they had it. Very heavy on the garlic. Overall great flavor but it had me concerned about the impact I would have on others for the rest of the night. We will be back. I'm surprised it took us this long to make our way over. read more

Food was bussin' Jeez all right now that the cringe but is out the way... the food was honestly really good. Been missing furikake chicken and this place popped up as most other joints don't have it on their menu. Needless to say, and longing for it aside, the food was delicious. Their take on furikake is a bit like honey walnut shrimp from Panda, but it leaves that behind. The chicken was coated in a crispy, crunchy and not at all hard layer of batter and the sauce glaze with the furikake takes it over the top. I chose the regular portion and it was enough to kill the craving and def makes you wanna get on a hammock and lay out. 5 stars for the fresh and delicious food. Also 5 stars for the service, mahalos to the big man that served me dude was awesome. Came a little before they closed at 2 PM and I didn't know they were closed and I was vibing. Almost left 45 after they closed him and da line were hella kind. Appreciate it. ***Heads up for the freshest poke come Tuesdays... We even tried going again. And got out of the car to walk around to see if Side of Aloha was in another store. No luck, no signs, why?

This was our first time trying Side of Aloha. We went around 6pm on a Friday night so it was very busy. Every table was taken so we had to rush and grab one when someone left. It was definitely not quiet inside, but we could still have a conversation just fine. It probably took us 20 minutes to order, and another 20 minutes to get our food. To be honest, the food wasn't hot when it came out to us, but even with the wait and lukewarm food, it was STILL worth it. We got the strawberry lemonade and lilikoi lemonade. Both delicious! We ordered the SOA sweet steak and chicken teriyaki with a side of furikake fries and mac salad. The steak was cooked perfectly! It's served cubed, and it was my favorite dish for sure. I'll come back again and again just for that steak. The chicken teriyaki was also yummy! Super moist and the sauce was delish! The furikake fries were also yummy. A good mix of sweet and savory! The mac salad was ok, but nothing to write home about. I've tried a few Hawaiian places in Utah and this was by far my fave! It tasted more fresh. read more

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would do that, but I'm rounding up to 4, and I'll tell you why. I have been wanting to come here ever since it opened, but I switched jobs from working in Draper to downtown SLC. I finally got around to visiting last night, and I was hoping for poke. Sadly, they were sold out. The young lady who took my order needs some serious recognition. I believe her name was Nina. She was incredibly sweet, friendly, and helpful--a real gem. Don't let this employee go! (reason #1 for my up score) Disappointed with the lack of poke, I ordered teriyaki chicken, white rice, and crack mac. I wish I could say this was great, but it just wasn't. The chicken was barely warm. I needed a knife for it, but there were no knives with the plastic ware. My rice was a mushy ball of starch--too much water and overcooked; you couldn't even really see the grains of rice. I was very sad about my rice. I love rice. The one redeeming thing in my bowl was the crack mac (reason #2 for my up score). You guys. This was the BEST macaroni salad I've had in my entire life. I've tried many places and just about everywhere around here--Moki's, L&L, Mo Bettah, Lanikai Grill--this is the best mac salad I've ever had. So that's the good news: I will be back for amazing macaroni salad, and hope that they have poke (and better rice) on my next visit. For chicken, I'll stick to Mo Bettah's. Other perks: speedy and polite service, clean interior. read more

Really good food, and definitely a step up from the cafeteria style places popping up all over. This place feels much more authentic than the chains out there and is worth stopping by if you're in the mood for Hawaiian. I had the Furikake Chicken and really like the creamy citrus sauce on it. They've got a lot of other options that I want to go back and try out too, including things that you don't regularly see at the chains like Liliko'i Pork and garlic edamame. The sides of rice and mac salad were also good. You can also request some of the house sauces, which were great drizzled over my rice. I'll come back next time I'm in the area. read more

How can you not love a little aloha cooking! The word aloha, always seems to get me. Enjoyed the atmosphere. This was delish, absolutely incredible bowl, the only thing that hurt was the $20 added cost for the fish. Was it good, yes, but $24 for a single bowl hurt. Will be returning. read more

Just found this place driving through and thought we would give it a shot, since eating it seemed reasonable that I would be able to keep to keto (meat wise without rice etc). Ingredients were fresh, serving was bountiful and for the relatively simple ingredients in the Steak Poké; it was very refreshing and full filling (though I didn't eat the rice) and the steak was just the right amount of Medium to Medium Rare and not overcooked ked and chewy. I asked for extra meat and it doubled what was already a healthy portion of badassery - YEAH! Other dishes we got were the Furikake Chicken (which admittedly, I sampled) and the Liliko'i Pork (kids) which were both delicious upon my sampling the kids meals "to make sure they weren't poisoned" . The chicken batter was light and not oily and great citrus after taste and not overwhelming and the pork was flavorful as the sun! We also got the Musubi, which let's face it...most want this even if they don't think they do! Twelventy-thirty out of 10 recommend! read more

Mahalo BIG TIME @slcfoodie !!! This delicious new addition to the foodie community is truly worth the drive to Draper, UT!!! I have never felt such a warm welcome to a place before. All of that love and kindness clearly translates into their food too! They may be a bit on the pricey side, you can't beat how everything is attentively made from scratch. There are no shortcuts in their process, from start to finish, to even their simple, yet beautiful decor. I've only been here once, but will mos def put this into our steady rotation! I really had to hold back on not buying one of everything! Lol I got so full from just the furikake tempura chicken/rice/crack mac, that I couldn't fit in a dessert too! I even skipped breakfast, just to fill up here! Next round, we may have to start on a sweet. ;) So lucky this place opened up! Man, what service! Way to rep, islander style, folks! Be careful, if you disagree with this company, they'll harass your social media page trying to make a point. My meal was $16+, although the menu shows it's $11.95+tax. $3 for a scoop of rice!! I had high hopes for Side of Aloha due to seeing all the reviews on Yelp, but for some reason I didn't leave satisfied or wanting more. I actually didn't finish my food (we ended up taking it home to eat). When we first got there, it was during a work day lunch hour rush and it was super busy. So my first tip is to not go during that time. It took about 30-45 minutes to get our food. It was so busy to the point where we asked if we could get our food to-go because there was no where to sit. I understand why the price is so much for poke because most places usually have to overnight the fish... But $16 for the small amount of poke was too much for me. They have only tuna, no salmon. We ordered the furikake fries and chicken, I liked the fries, and the chicken was okay. I wasn't expecting a sweet taste to it. I wasn't able to finish my meal, which is unfortunate. We also ordered spam musubi and I wasn't impressed. The spam was burnt and there was no flavor at all. I think they might have forgot to put sauce on it. Because of how far and expensive this place is, I don't think I would go again. But if you're in the area or if this is the only place you can go to that has poke in Draper, you should try it and see if you like it! read more

We love SOA. The employees are always fantastic. We love the food and definitely have favorites. Furikake Chicken, crack mac, and nachos are our regulars. The only problem is that sometimes it's so busy with others that also know it's fantastic and since all their food is cooked fresh if we only have a small window of time we've had to sadly go somewhere else. We were thoroughly impressed tonight. My husband is a mainland Hawaiian and has been craving Hawaiian food lately. Glad we stumbled upon this place. We ordered furikake chicken, side of Mac, poke bowl, li hing mui pork, furikake fries and the butter mochi waffle (best waffle I have ever had). Everything was 5 star, I was a little thrown by the Mac salad bc it had a few things in it I wouldn't choose but it was still really good.
