I emailed Troy at Sun Sheet Metal with the measurements of the tabletop and explained I wanted a custom brushed finish stainless steel 'cover' to give our table a two-tone look with metal on top and wood legs. He responded quickly and after a brief email exchange to hammer out the details, he put the order into production and it was ready for pickup the following week. My wife picked up the metal table 'cover' and the guys at Sun Sheet Metal helped load and carefully 'tetris' it into her car. We could not be more impressed with the final product. It fit absolutely perfectly over our existing table top, has beautiful smoothed and polished edges and corners, and is SOLID. They used 16-gauge stainless steel sheets and it looks and feels very high quality. And price was reasonable and it looks like a brand new table. If you have a custom metal project, give them a shot. They seem to mostly do larger projects, which I'm sure are also high quality, but it's worth asking about smaller jobs like this. See attached pictures of our little home project.

It was an amazing experience for my 14-year-old daughter. Overall, Nick is a top-notch instructor and a great guy. Even though my daughter had never touched a welder before, Nick brought out the best in her--inspiring her confidence level and raising her skill level. ...And the teens weren't just working on some small "arts and crafts" projects. Nick had them welding industrial grade box beams to diamond plating for a real project. It was all very impressive.
