We shopped around Lowe's and Home Depot. Not only were their prices outrageous, their "experts" didn't seem to have a lot of information neither. I reached out to David, whom I found on Yelp and gave him a visit. He was so informative and the prices, and quality of blinds are beyond exceptional. Most big stores are having a nation wide shortage due to COVID but David's wait for his products are half of their wait. He also wasn't pushy nor dishonest like the other people we've met. The quality of wood blinds are thick and good quality( with a good selection of colors). We are looking for something that is thicker than 2 inches and he offered us beautiful and $$ manageable options. David also gave references for land word, concrete, and other yard works. Instead, he abandoned the job during my pregnancy and shortly after we had paid him more than $19,000, leaving unfinished work and subcontractor issues that needed correction. He informed our insurance company that the project was 98% complete, even though work remained unfinished and some work required correction. He later filed a civil lawsuit against us seeking payment that we dispute, including amounts we maintain had already been paid, mitigation payment, and amounts for work that was not completed. Before he abandoned the job, at his direction, we met his wife, Carmen Fimbres, at their bank to deposit a check payment. The check was processed, and we have documentation of that payment. The amount is nevertheless included in the money he is seeking from us. Communication was also difficult. He expected his calls to be answered immediately. On more than one occasion, after I returned his call, he spoke to me in a harsh, raised tone and said, "Do you have a problem with me?!" We are now dealing with the stress of an unfinished project and a lawsuit over money we believe was already paid.
