I booked a lot of my vendors through email and only met with the ones I NEEDED to meet with. So communicating with Brandon and Rob through email, was perfect for me. They were super quick to respond to any crazy questions or request I had. The photo booth itself, and attendant (I'm so sorry I forget his name) were amazing! I am so glad we went with a photo booth, bc it was probably the biggest hit of the night! I love that we can go through our guest book and see these amazing photos of all our friends and family having a great time on our wedding day. I honestly didn't even remember what was included in our package, so when I was sent the link to ALL the pictures the next day, I was so happy! I've left messages on both of their Chicago phone numbers in the past two days as well as emailed them (assuming the person on the phone misunderstood me when I provided my email address). It's now Thursday and I've received no notification and no one is picking up their phone. Adding to the frustration, I explicitly expressed the fast turnaround for this reservation. I was only given a week to pull this together for an event the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend. The whole process was a buzz kill. We decided to use Shutterbox for our wedding reception last month after weighing the options of various locations. Luckily, we ordered during the month of Feb, when they were running a special. They added on the photos on disc as well as a memory photo book that the guests could sign next to their pictures. There was a problem with the times, because we had them for 4 hours but didn't really want them setting up during the speeches and dinner, so they agreed to come early to set it up at no extra charge. It was a hit! All the guest absolutely loved it, especially as the night went on... you can definitely tell as the photos progress who was having an extra fun time. They had an attendant there who created the photobook and made sure no one got too rambunctious in the booth, which by the way could fit about 10 people. ALSO, there was a screen on the outside which scrolled pictures from the night, so you could see others photos - fun! My husband and I definitely had a fun time looking through the book the following morning and seeing how much fun all our guests had. By the way, the book turned out great! The attendant, his name escapes me at this time, even made a special page for bride and groom photobooth pics. My suggestion to anyone even considering getting a photobooth for an event of any sort, DO IT! And shutterbox was willing to bend over backwards for us. Plus they were in the suburbs as opposed to the city, which may have helped their willingness a bit. read more

My experience with ShutterBox Photo Booth was really disappointing. I used this company for my wedding last year, and the quality of the photos was poor. The pictures were grainy, and the colors looked faded and off. I've been to a lot of weddings that incorporated photo booths during their receptions, and most of them printed much more quality photos than ShutterBox did at mine. Nevertheless, the people at ShutterBox are very friendly and easy to work with. Brandon was very quick and efficient at answering my questions, and it did not take long to reach a contract. Catie was the graphic designer who helped me design the border for the photo strip. All in all I thought she was very helpful and pleasant to work with. The only problem was that on my actual wedding day, ShutterBox didn't even use the border design that Catie and I came up with. For instance, the background was supposed to be pink, but the actual photo strips' background was white. The font was also a different color, and the background graphic was almost imperceptible. Customer service was great here, but the actual experience, unfortunately, was not. read more

This review is semi-second hand information. What I mean by that is I don't know how it is to do business with them directly. What I do know is that when they show up, it's party time! We hired ShutterBox Photobooth for my 50th Birthday Party. It was a disco theme party at a ballroom. My friend suggested hiring a photo booth, claiming it was "all the rage" for weddings and parties. I'd never heard of them, although I'm a fan of the nostalgic booths at arcades. Well, let me tell you, it was the HIT of the party. Groups as big as 6-8 could squeeze inside the curtained booth. The camera prompts you "5-4-3-2-1" and everybody mugs for the camera. Even the shyest of my guests took advantage of the booth. I had lots of fun "YMCA" themed hats, etc. and people wore them! I also had a life-size cardboard cut-out of Barack Obama, and he got lots of photos taken with my guests! ShutterBox can provide a box of fun costume/hat props if you're interested. Rob and Jennifer took great care of us. They printed dual strips of all the photos, giving one as a party favor to my guests and keeping one for a lovely album Jen made on the spot. She decorated it with cute decals and provided metallic ink pens for my guests to write a sentiment. I treasure it -- and I didn't have to make it, which is even better! The photo booth itself was fantastic. We used it at our wedding, and it was a total hit. There was a line almost all night of people waiting their turn. The photos turned out great. We purchased the scrapbook and double prints. I would definitely recommend double prints so there isn't any fighting over who gets to keep the photo strip. As for the scrapbook, it was nice to have someone there to splice the photos in 2, but the attendant didn't do much else. The Shutterbox website led me to believe that he would encourage people to write something in the scrapbook, but he did not. Most people didn't even know it was there, and they didn't know why this random guy was stealing one of their strips. So they need to work on that. Also, I can't verify this, because I was not there... but my parents said he was late setting up. The photo booth was supposed to be open starting at 6:30 for our cocktail hour, and I don't think he showed up until then. Overall, I would absolutely recommend a photo booth, and this company... but I would pass on the scrapbook idea. We could have done it ourselves, and it would have turned out the same. We ended up with about 150 strips in digital format. A great idea, and we're glad we went with it! read more

While taking the pics, you can choose between black and white or color prints (my personal fave). Then once it's pic-cha time, you get three poses as opposed to most other booths where you have 4. I MUCH prefer the 3 because it's easier to come up with poses. That way you don't end up with one pose as thugs, one as rockers, one kisses, and one looking confused about what your 4th pose should be. ShutterBox is really on to something with the 3 photo method. Then, once you've finished taking the pics, your super chic, high quality prints come out in less than a minute. LOVE IT! Oh, and if things get a little crazy at your event and people lose their photo strips you're covered because ShutterBox will have the digital files of all photo strips from that night available online in less than 24 hours. We custom-designed our wedding invitations, and they were able to match our design on the photo strips. The booth was awesome--probably the biggest hit of our wedding--and the correspondence with the company was timely and great. The reason it didn't get 4 stars is because the worker that was assigned basically just sat in the background and didn't make ANY attempt to have my guests put the duplicate photos in an album (as I explained to him I wanted). Many of my guests didn't even know there was a album there they should have put their photos in!! BUT--the booth was great---we have awesome photos (you get a CD with all the photos on it after). I would say just go ahead and stick your own note up in the booth to "make sure to put your duplicate photo in the guestbook!" Spend the money and just do it--you won't regret it! read more

I was finally able to have a mini photo session at the last Yelp event (Passport to Elmhurst). I've never been in the photo booth before but I've always seen all the cool pics and knew I wanted to try it. There were tons of props to choose from such as hats, feather boas and oversized glasses. I didn't use any of those because I am a germaphobe. Our pics turned out really cute and I liked that they gave you a print out (your choice of black and white or color) to take home with you. I was also at another friends wedding recently and there was a Shutterbox booth there as well. These guys are extremely professional and easy to work with. When you call with a question there is always someone there to answer it or call you right back, no waiting for days to hear back from anyone. They give you an array of customizeable graphics for your photo strips - so they are really personalized. They come to set up the booth and are quick and efficient, and the guys running the booth a friendly and fun (we love Derek & David). The quality of the photos is better than any other photo booth company I've ever seen. You can request a photo book that you get at the end of the night with copies of all of the photos from the night - such a great memory book! We used Shutterbox for our wedding in Chicago. Our guests loved the photo booth and people were using it all night. The pictures were real fun to see afterwards. They put the photo booth where they were supposed to and it was set up accordingly and on time. it was also nice that they have a monitor on the outside of their booth so you can see pics other people took. Also, our attendant was very nice. But here are some things I would improve upon. They are pretty slow to respond. they were slow in responding to emails and questions and generating the image for your photo strip. we have a lot of pictures where people are looking down at the monitor/screen instead of up at the camera (located above the monitor). there is a sign by the camera telling you to look at the camera but you dont really notice it b/c you are focused on the monitor. i would have some kind of stand for shorter guests or tell the guests to go closer to the camera. for some of our pics, there is a lot of black background. We paid for an album but the attendant only put 3 strips to a page so even though our guests took a ton of pictures, we dont have very many of them in our album. as a general note if you are having a photo booth at your wedding, I would mention/announce to your guests what the photo booth is especially if you have guests who have never seen a photo booth at a wedding before. that way you can have pics of everyone. read more

I was the chair of a non-profit event and a week before the event, I found someone willing to sponsor a photo booth. I worked with the owner Rob an we were able to get this scheduled quickly. Onsight, Kevin was our photo booth host and did a fabulous job getting people to participate and dress up with hats, etc. He even stayed open a little bit so those of us organizing could find the time to get in.
