Worse, Yelp seems to arbitrarily choose which reviews contribute to the rating and which don't. I'll take the risk and actually attempt a complete review. First, some context. There are two distinct portions of this facility to consider, with distinct amenities/features and depending on where your loved one needs to be you should evaluate them separately. The upper two floors are independent and/or assisted living facilities. The lower floor is a memory care facility. My mother moved in to the Memory Care facility after we considered many other options. From a value perspective, this was hands down the best option. I visited at multiple different times during the day and interacted with most of the staff there, and every single one of them was an outstanding, patient professional doing their best. As others have noted, for patients who should not be left alone (for safety reasons, like frequent falls) they are frequently together in an "activity room" where the smaller number of staff is capable of watching them. However, what other reviewers have NOT noted is that this is part of dementia care, establishing routines. They are not "left unattended". In my case, I knew my mother would feel more comfortable in her own room surrounded by her own things, and paid extra for someone to come just sit with her. The savings over other facilities enabled me to afford this; you just have to set your expectations on what a facility is able to do. During my frequent visits I also chatted with many of the "upstairs" residents. These were frequently well-educated people... retired aerospace engineers from Boeing. Senior management at tech companies. Master's degrees. Doctorates. They knew value and they moved here from other facilities and were happy with their choices. Sure, not everything was perfect here but they knew that, and still considered it better than other places they'd come from. Now, the reason this is 4 stars instead of 5, is that despite being full of great staff, there simply aren't enough of them. Maintenance requests have a multiple-week backlog (unless it's an emergency). It took over 3 weeks just to get a cable box/tv hookup. They need more maintenance staff. While there's always someone on call at the front desk, typically they can only write something down and call/email someone else. There's supposed to be an on-call manager every day but it frequently took me over an hour to get in contact with them. Communicating by trying to actually meet someone was rare; I got the best response via email. That's not how it should be. Not everything was perfect at Overlake Terrace, but I still think it was better than any other alternative I considered and would choose to go there again -- and would recommend it over many specific alternative places I visited. Is it the best? Probably not. Is it the best value, and flexible enough for you to translate your savings into customized care for your loved one? Absolutely.

Absolutely wonderful facility!…read more Did some extensive research on options for Gma about a year before she moved in, June of 2025. Wanted a quality place where she would feel at home and be able to make friends and socialize and stay busy. The Executive Director, Madelyn, is absolutely fabulous to work with, you can tell she really cares about the residents and has a passion for what she does. The support staff and activities team are all so welcoming, smiley and overall great to be around and provide a very warm and welcoming vibe for residents and visitors! We did some extensive research into assisted living facilities and this was by far my #1 choice for reasons I will list below: 1. The amenities - activities galore and always changing, well thought out and the activities staff are friendly and are proficient in social engagement for the elderly and cognitively impaired. They do a good job of offering lots of engagement opportunities for residents. 1.a. - Addtl ammenitites - attached bistro that is open to the public, resident key required for entry from bistro into the facility. Nice for a little change of scenery 1. b. - Addtl - salon on site! Addtl fee, but there is a hair salon ON SITE ... I believe they might do nails as well but not sure... but this is SO convenient for those that don't drive and don't want to hassle with booking the resident shuttle LOVE LOVE This! & it's right off the entry way so it has a nice window view to the street 1. c. - Addtl - shuttle! The resident shuttle can be booked to take vehicle-less residents to their doctors appointments, or any other places within a 5 mile radius that they need to go! They typically have a weekly grocery trip on the activities calendar as well, so there's a pre-planned trip that everyone can go on for any grocery needs. 2. The facitity itself - always clean, very beautifully decorated, love the small touches of real flowers on the lunch tables when they have them as well as holiday decor, little snack and treats in the lounging area with some fresh water, apples and cookies, great layout of the facility, good location with a decent flat walkway right out front that residents can go for easy walks. Elavators with key required access to go to up resident floors. Location is RIGHT down the street from Overlake hospital, which is convenient, we did have to go there one evening when gma was having dizziness and vomiting and it only took a few minutes to get there. VERY convenient for healthcare reasons. 2. a Rooms - rooms are somewhat small but are perfect size for one or two people that are mostly going to be out and about in the facility the majority of the day. Each room has decent views so that is very nice (we looked at several different options of rooms before choosing). The bathrooms are large and perfect for safety for the age range of target residents. Linens and house keeping are provided once a week!!! Yay!!! 3. Care & safety - The assisted staff bring meds in the AM and they do nightly safety check rounds, call button lanyard for each resident and emergency safety pulls in each restroom in the facility and in each private resident restroom. RN on staff with 24/7 staff on site who can call the on-call RN if needed. Concierge staffed desk during the open hours of the facility, which is so nice there's always someone monitoring who is coming in, check in required with name badge. Resident key required for elavators up to floors! 4. Food & dining - the food is excellent and a well thought out rotating menu. Some of the same, regular items available, but always a new highlighted daily menu with new and exciting items. The food is clearly quality and cooked well, they didn't hire just anyone, the chef is a real chef! The dining room is open access all day from AM until dinner time, I think they close up at 6pm. 5. Staff - how the facility chooses their staff and what type of staff they have on site says a lot. All the staff during my visit seems welcoming, pleasant, smiling, helpful and overall enjoyed being at their jobs. The long term care sector can be one that is overlooked and underserved and we were not going to choose a place that hires people that don't want to be at their jobs because caring for loved ones is a very important role and this was a huge factor for us as well. 6. Price - price is expensive but honestly is similar to other facilities yet far exceeds in value above and beyond the others that we looked at. We visited this place about a year prior to moving Gma in, they allowed us to come for a complementary lunch and activity to get a feel and be shown around and all that. Mom and I visited, did the tour and looked at rooms and a later date I brought Gma for lunch and an activity. I was very pleased with the experience and recently visited Gma in Oct of 2025, a few months after she moved in, for about a week and a half. The experience was nothing less than the prior visit! A+++ would HIGHLY recommend!

Where do I begin …read more.. We are so thankful for this wonderful brand-new community. Without a doubt this is an impressive five-star facility. We moved my Mother-in-Law (MIL) Trudy to Aegis Gardens mid-February. I cannot express how impressed we are with the facility and staff. From the first moment we walked through the door the management and staff has been supportive, caring and compassionate. They have gone above and beyond to make sure my MIL feels welcome and cared for. They treat her like family. It's obvious that the devoted management and staff genuinely care for the residents (and family). This facility was built with the residents in mind. They offer so many amenities such as on-site beauty and nail salon, movie theater, koi pond, indoor water fountain, swimming pool, workout room, tea rooms, barbershop, game room with actual slot machines (no you can't win money but you can win prizes), lounge with a lake view. Daily resident trash pickup. Resident outings, exercise classes, etc. Tenants also receive toilet paper, paper towels and soap. The list of amenities goes on and on. Aegis Gardens also provides outstanding culinary offerings! Meals are prepared by their Chef who offers Asian cuisine as well as made to order, cheeseburgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, etc. They also have a noodle bar. Coffee, tea and snacks are available during the day. The decor throughout the facility reflects an opulent Asian theme. Aegis members flew to China and handpicked the wall coverings, beautiful artwork, wall dividers, furniture etc. and had it shipped to Aegis Gardens. They also have multiple flat screen LCD's hanging on the walls that show activities and residents enjoying the activities. They also won a well-deserved prestigious National Award for Best Architecture and Design in the senior living category. They offer studios to 2-bedroom apartments. Some of the apartments have beautiful lake views. There are safety rails outside the apartments. Their attention to detail is phenomenal. They even offer perks to family members such as: the use of motorized bikes to explore the nearby trails and parks, monthly family meetings, wellness profile emails (basically this is a report that tracks activities and a general assessment of the resident and it's sent to family members), attend lecture series, family movie matinees and classes with residents. The feeling I have when I walk through the door is not of an assisted living facility but the atmosphere you would feel at an upscale 5-star hotel. The environment is positive, and the residents seem very happy and content. Although Aegis Gardens emphasis is on the Asian community every nationality is welcome. If you or your love one is looking for a place to call home I highly recommend Aegis Gardens. Thanks to Meng, Ellie and Morgan, for your help with the orientation and move-in process! Thanks also to Nicki, Nancy, Margaret, Chris and the rest of the staff for all that you do. Thanks to everyone for making this place special. -David and Susan

Our Dad stayed here for just under a year before passing. He was very happy with the care and…read morecompassion given him during his time here. The only issue he had was the food which he was always critical of even at the restaurants we went to. In reading some of the other reviews I think Aegis has improved much since those reviews. They adjusted the billing when we brought up a service we didn't need anymore. The only increase is the new year rate adjustment which is normal. They were quick to call when Dad had a fall and told us he's OK. Then when he needed to be transported to the hospital they called and told us where he was being taken to and why. Considering the number of residences the response time when summoned can be long considering the situation. Dad did complain about that a few times he had to push his help button. Overall the facility is first class. Lots of daily group activities to keep the residents engaged including special events to celebrate holidays. Volunteer groups entertain the residents with ethnic dances, sing a-longs, etc. First Thursday family events are always fun and residents get to meet and get to know other family members. Staff has always been friendly, patient, and helpful. They recognize us when we visit and engage in conversation telling us about Dad's days. Even the residents remember us and when they hadn't seen Dad for a day or so they would ask us how he's doing. So it's a very good social environment with residents looking out for each other as well. I would rate them excellent but for Dad's couple of complaints. Keep up the good work at Aegis.
