I love these guys! The entire staff here rocks! Baxter gets such great care here and they are all very personable and they explain everything in layman's terms and save you money where they can. They have all Baxter's supplies here, heartworm prevention, flea & tick care, his special diet dog food and even delivery service for his dog food. I highly recommend Shuler Vet Service for your furry friend.

Finley after two shots, totally fine!

Charleston Animal Society actually recommended it and have partnered with local vets to offer a free first appointment to get a second opinion on the health of your new best friend. I was thrilled to see Simply Spay and Neuter as one of the options. After completing the adoption process, I made an appointment to come in. I was surprised to see a new Dr come in for our appointment. I was always such a fan of Dr McTavish that I was a bit skeptical at first and asked if she was available. I was informed that she's only in the office a couple times a week these days and mostly for surgeries. It turns out Dr Clarke and Foye are purchasing the office and they are currently in a transition phase. I have to say that by the end of Finley's appointment my skepticism had gone out the window. Dr Clarke left me with an assured feeling that my pups would continue to get the best and affordable care in the area that I've come to love from SS&N. It's good to see that even if Dr McTavish is on the way out, that the culture of what made this office so great will continue to stay. It also seems that they will be making improvements to offer new products and procedures as they'll be converting into a full veterinary hospital. I'm looking forward to developing a new relationship with Dr Clarke (and Dr Foye) in the future!

Illegal Treatment and Animal Cruelty…read more On Tuesday, I went to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital because I was worried that my dog's spaying wound might have opened. After filling out one page of information and a short "in case of emergency" declaration, they took my dog into the back, saying they were only going to check her vitals and that she would be out in a second. I felt uncomfortable not being with my dog, but I trusted the doctors. After about five minutes, an employee came up and asked us to sit in a room, saying that a doctor would talk to us after the exam. The exam? I was told they were only checking her vitals. I walked back to the front desk and asked again if they were only checking her vitals and made sure they would not perform any unnecessary treatment. The front desk employee told me it was only vitals and nothing else. A moment later, I heard a dog screaming at the top of its lungs. I was the only person there with a dog, it was my dog. I immediately told them that I wanted to see my dog, but I was repeatedly told that I was not allowed to. I asked why checking vitals would take more than 15 minutes and told them that I did not want anyone touching her scar or putting her through unnecessary pain. The front desk employee said she would check in the back to make sure my dog was okay and inform the doctor of what I had said. She came back and told me that it was another dog screaming and that they were only checking my dog's vitals. After another five minutes, I became impatient and asked again what was taking so long just to check vitals. The employee walked to the back again and then returned, saying they only had one more vital sign to check and that my dog would come out soon. By this point, it had been over 20 minutes. I told them that checking vitals should not take this long and that I did not want them to treat my dog without my permission. Another front desk employee then said that they were only checking the vitals, like looking at the ears and measuring the temperature, and asked me to go back into the room so the doctor could do the exam with me. I went back into the room, and a few minutes later the doctor walked in with my dog. My dog was covered in a bandage and had 10 staples in her. I was completely shocked. My heart dropped, and I could barely speak. The doctor told us that the incision had been slightly open, so she stapled my dog. She then handed us a $400 bill and sent us to the front desk. At the front desk, I told them that this was not okay and that I had been lied to the entire time. After some discussion, the front desk employee brought the doctor in charge to speak with me. The doctor told me that she had made all the decisions herself, which made the situation even worse, since it meant multiple employees had given me false information. I had been lied to the entire time and repeatedly given incorrect information. The worst part was that they did all of this without my consent, and it was not even an emergency. When I brought this up, the doctor said that it was not an emergency but that the dog was already on her table, so it was convenient. I was shocked by that statement. I told them they should not have even looked at the scar without me present and that I wanted to be there for my dog. The doctor then said that she was taking initiative because my dog was already lying there and did not even need numbing. So they are telling me that without my permission, while the staff was simultaneously telling me something completely different, they put staples into my dog without numbing her, without a consultation, and without asking me. When I looked at the bill, I also noticed unreasonable charges, such as $71 for a bandage. I told them how unprofessional this was and that it felt less like helping my dog and more like making a quick buck. The doctor then said in a snarky tone that she could take the bandage off if I wanted to. I left feeling sick to my stomach. My dog had been put through unnecessary pain, I could no longer trust the veterinarians, and I had the overwhelming feeling of being lied to by everyone involved. On top of that, I was handed a $400 bill that I never consented to, never received an estimate for, and never signed. I am extremely angry and heartbroken that I trusted them and unknowingly put my dog through all of this.

We've now been going to AMCMP for over four years and we continue to be big fans…read more We have primarily been treated by Dr. Fenamore, who treats my dog and my cat (and me!) like family, and we've also seen Dr. Epstein a few times. I feel that anyone we speak with at AMCMP speaks to us honestly and lays out options for treatment plans. They take unexpected costs into consideration and have worked with me to stay affordable, which is wonderful when dealing with emergent situations. They have also been helpful when I have concerns, letting me know if an issue needs to be dealt with immediately or if it's something that can wait a few days or even weeks before being seen. When I was having trouble deciding whether it was time to put my cat down or if I should wait, Dr. F sat with me and talked to me like a friend, letting me take time to process and make my decision. Truly the only "problem" we've ever had there is when someone who doesn't know us calls to confirm an appointment or with test results and they refer to my dog as a boy (her name is Steven so it is a bit confusing!!). AMCMP even kept us on as patients when we briefly moved out of the area, helping to keep prescriptions renewed and answering questions when the local vet was not helpful. Even though we're a solid 30 minute drive from AMCMP now and no longer within walking distance, I am so grateful to be nearby again. We'll definitely stay with them as long as we can.

She treats both you and your pet with genuine compassion, patience, and respect. You're never made to feel like just another appointment or a number; she takes her time, listens, and makes sure you understand every step of your pet's care all while valuing your opinion. What stands out most is how she sees animals for what they are -- living, feeling beings who deserve kindness and dignity. That level of care is rare, and it's exactly why my family and I trust her completely with our pets. My family and I actually drive all the way from North Mount Pleasant just to bring our pets to her and her team -- that alone should speak volumes about the level of trust and confidence we have in her care. And her team? Absolutely incredible, 10/10. Her techs are just as kind, competent, attentive, and dedicated. They go above and beyond to make sure both pets and owners feel comfortable, supported, and cared for. It's not easy to find a veterinary team that blends skill, compassion, and integrity so seamlessly, but Dr. Kahuda and her staff truly do. I am beyond grateful to have found them, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pets.

We have the best dog ever, Coco, a 12-year-old mixed breed who is normally perky and peppy as a puppy! We knew something was very wrong when over the course of about two hours she went from behaving normally to walking with a stiff, uncomfortable gait, panting and suffering what looked like severe pain and distress. I called the veterinary emergency line and they said to bring her in right away. On arrival and check in, we waited only about five minutes before being shown to the back where the doctor on call sat on the floor and kindly and gently and lovingly examined our poor distressed little pup. After closer examination, we were told that though unsure of the actual cause, Coco was in extreme gastrointestinal distress and the surgeon would have to be called. The doctor on call assured us that they would take the best care they of coco and let us give her pets and kisses before we left her for the rest of the night to undergo exploratory surgery. Dr. Binuchi the surgeon, assured us on arrival that he would do everything he could and would call us with an update. We heard from him about two hours later with the best possible news, that he had identified the problem and due to our quick reaction and theirs, was able to remove our dogs ruptured gallbladder in time to save her. In the 24 hours post surgery/recovery, I have received phone calls from Dr. Binuchi, the overnight doctor, a nursing staff member and my vet who was alerted to the surgery. All of them were just incredibly supportive and so proactive with updates, which couldn't have been more appreciated. We were allowed to visit this morning and no one batted an eyelash, we were welcomed into the back with smiles. We saw Coco comfortable in a large enclosure with nice blankets and a window to look out of that she seemed to love. Truly, I cannot imagine our dog being better cared for in her and our time of need! Thank you to everyone who helped Coco!
