    Shrimp Po Boy

I first went to this location in 2022. I just found out two two weeks ago that this location is temporary closed. The food here was good, but the service was slightly slow that. I guess it was because it was during the week. I decided to herefor lunch that particular day. Parking here was slightly difficult to find, being that it's a shared parking lot. But, after a couple minutes circling the parking lot, I did manage to find a parking spot. The ambiance within this restaurant is just regular and nothing to brag about. I decided to order a shrimp po' boy sandwich that day. The bread was fresh and so were the shrimps, as they were very flavorful. The restrooms were surprisingly clean that day and presentable also. I do hope they reopen this establishment next year.

This place I was uncertain about the food they sold her and if it was going to be good. But one night while in the area drove pass and saw the line wrapped around the building. I said say no more I will be having them for lunch and.... It did not disappoint. I got the 18 shrimp dinner which came with two sides and a drink and yall that sweet tea was everything, the shrimp and fries were good and hot, the hushpuppies were good I thought it was going to be similar to another place I had down south called buds but it wasn't. But nonetheless still good. My entire meal came up to 20 bucks I didn't check out the inside as I went through the drive through. The drive through did have a little wait but not complaining as everything was good and hot

This review is based on my drive thru experiences because I've not been inside yet. I absolutely love Shrimp Shack and am blown away by how good their food is. Plus the fact that they have a drive thru for convenience & the staff is always friendly is why I am constantly recommending SS to others. Their shrimp & grits (not pictured) is better than I've had at pricier restaurants in town. I also love their fried shrimp platters because the seasoning and amount of batter is just perfect in my opinion. And if you like great deals, you need to go on Tuesday or Thursday when you get a 30pc fried shrimp platter w/ 2 sides for $13.99!

Every week I barely make it till Friday before I physically cannot bring myself to cook and want to consume copious amounts of junk food. By the time Thursday rolls around, I find myself gravitating towards takeout or ordering in. Such was the mood I found myself in when I stumbled across Shrimp Shack on Ubereats. I am aware of the Tuesday and Thursday specials the offer where you can get 30 pc of shrimp with two sides for 13.99. However, I decided to go with the family platter in order to try more variety of their wares. I must say, it great exceeded my expectations. Maybe it's because I'm new to the South, and my standard isn't as high, comfort food here is amazing! Although many reviews of the place say the hush puppies had a weird taste, I am absolutely hooked on it. Sweet, savory, and slightly garlicky I know I will be coming back just for that. The portions size was definitely enough for a family of 4, the fish was delightful. I will definitely be taking my friends and family who are visiting Jacksonville as a display of local culture :P.

I have always been curious of this place since seeing it in passing. I drive past all other fast food places. The order was made fresh and I enjoyed it. The shrimp was very good. This is the only location I know at the beach. Pretty much what you would expect From a fast food place. *Updated - Had it a few times now and has been consistent.

I have never visited a Shrimp Shack Seafood and boy am I sorry I didn't visit sooner. The service was friendly. As I approached the counter, I was greeted with a smile and pleasant demeanor. I ordered the basa grilled with no salt and light seasonings and fries. My companion ordered fried shrimp and fried okra. The fried shrimp was spectacular but the okra was from frozen. The restaurant was bright and spotless. The workers were constantly cleaning and clearing tables. This is a definite return.

Small Dinner Size Fried Shrimps, Hushpuppies and tarter sauce! Yummy. Left overs no problem just close the box and keep moving!

Wow! I had forgotten how yummy this place is. Counter style ordering, self serve drinks and food delivered in a takeout box. My only take back since Covid is now they serve prepackaged tarter and cocktail sauce. Back in the day it was in a squeeze bottle made in house on the table. The hush puppies are delicious, fried shrimp prepared to perfection, coleslaw and cheese grits. Staffa is friendly and the place is sparkling clean!

We loved Shrimp Shack Seafood Kitchen. First time trying this place and I was not disappointed. It really satisfied my seafoods craving. We ordered the Thursday special that included 30pcs shrimp with sides. The shrimp were really good and tasted fresh. We also ordered the grilled fish and it was delicious. I ordered kids meal for my son and he loved it. The service was fast and staff were friendly. Now this is one of my favorite seafood place in Jac and will definitely fo ga back.

Out here on Beach Blvd. First time here. Heard great reviews. Not crowded at 3:30.

Today my husband wanted to try a different place after days of gloomy weather. After reading great reviews staying in, we ventured out to Beach Blvd off of San Pablo Rd. Clean inside. Not overly crowded at 3:30. I saw the coupon online for 30 pc shrimp and 2 sides at $12.99. We ordered this to try. Not a bad deal at all. Plentiful enough to share definitely! Fresh and heat hot. Shrimp is my first pick anytime it comes to seafood restaurants. We also ordered the grilled basa fish and 2 shrimp skewers (total of 10) with 2 sides (rice pilaf and coleslaw) combo $13.99. I enjoyed this dish better! Grilled to perfection! Shrimp is of medium size and the basa fish was seasoned very well--nice white fish! Definitely recommend. On Tuesday's, they offer 30 shrimp and 2 sides for $10.99 special. Highly recommend yes! Great staff. The manager was kind to go to each table to collect your trays and ask how's your food. Go to their website to print 2 coupons, one is for 20 percent off all entree meals and the other is for 30 shrimp and 2 sides $12.99. Both are very good coupons. Thank you to all the yelp pals sharing their photos and reviews.

My food was excellent. I went with a friend in between some meetings. I ordered the fried bass with a baked potato and Cole slaw. This is such a popular place that I forgot was here. Basa The Basa was fried and tasted so fresh. It was seasoned perfectly which tasted delicious. Cole Slaw The Cole slaw was delicious. I'm not really a coke slaw person but was told theirs was good. The next time around I will get the cheese grits that my friend was raving about. There are not many parking spots but we was able to find the last one. Staff was great. I will return soon.

    Catfish and shrimp combo $9.99.

Good. I needed to find a new spot since the place closer to my office has started to disappoint lately. It's a little bit of a haul for lunch from work but the food seems to be much better. The establishment itself looks like a converted fast food joint so it has that vibe. I ordered the regular sized combo for $10 which came with 6 shrimp and 2 small catfish filets. The catfish was surprisingly good even though I'm guessing it was frozen (but I could be wrong). Shrimp were decent - not popcorn and not butterflied so they were satisfying. Fries were not abundant but again, a good portion for lunch. The second side I chose was cole slaw which leaned towards the sweet side which I don't mind - And of course a pair of hushpuppies rounded out the meal. I would add it to the rotation when I have a little extra time to spend - not that service was slow but it's a little of a trek. They also have a drive-thru so that's always an option but who wants soggy fried seafood?

Quay was our personal server and I think he was our bartender too- although there was another person back and forth behind the bar. We added a little chaos to the mix with a handful of family who showed without rsvp-ing. Add in toddlers plus easily 15 people.... Yeah- mad respect for Quay!!! I admit to being sad that I couldn't get my broiled platter- that is my favorite Fish Camp dish, and apparently not available for lunch. I pivoted and got the steam pot for 2. For myself. And guess what- I ate all the crab, hmmm so happy! Laugh- it was hilarious, I was still cracking crab while everyone sung happy birthday! I was thrilled. I brought home most of the potatoes, corn and such- it even had mushrooms and broccoli! YUM! My old fashioned was also perfection in a glass. John had the shrimp and fish basket and loved every bite. Several raved about the shrimp and grits. Caron loved her mahi mahi. Connor got the Spicy Wild Caught Shrimp Linguine with White Wine, Garlic, Tomato, Pecorino and inhaled it! Even the kiddos were super happy with the kids chicken strips, although the kitchen delivered the first plate to the wrong toddler and the lovely parents didn't question how they got food without ordering and that little girl dug right in. Opposite end of the table- this grandma spoke up and we split the food so all the littles were fed. Considering our chaotic group, it went very well. I didn't hear a single complaint from our party. Hopefully we didn't drive the staff too crazy!

I used to absolutely love this place. It was our go-to for seafood, celebrations, family dinners,…read moreand special occasions for years. We recommended it constantly and genuinely enjoyed supporting them. Unfortunately, after our last few experiences, that loyalty is completely gone. The problems really started during a dinner visit with my spouse. We had a reservation for two and specifically requested a booth because my spouse has herniated discs and booths are much easier on her back. The hostess with glasses told us there were "no booths available for parties of two," so we were seated at a tiny two-top directly in front of an empty booth. Minutes later, another couple - who apparently didn't even have the correct downstairs reservation because Wheel House was closed for a private event - was seated in that exact booth instead. When I politely questioned it, I was told they were "accommodating them." Interesting, because apparently accommodating a medical issue for customers with a reservation didn't matter. Still, we decided to give the restaurant another chance for Mother's Day. To their credit, we were seated at a booth this time after I both noted it in the reservation and called ahead to confirm it. Our waiter was someone we immediately recognized from a previous visit, and my parents mentioned he had waited on us before at that same table. Somehow, from that comment alone, he became convinced we were related to Chef Tim Tillus. From there, things got bizarre. He kept talking about "Timmy," mentioning reunions and saying he used to live with him. The restaurant was extremely loud, and my father had forgotten his hearing aids that day, so honestly we could barely understand what he was talking about. We just smiled politely and focused on asking about the menu because we truly had no clue where the conversation was going. Eventually, he came back and realized we were NOT Chef Tim Tillus' family. He then explained that the kitchen staff had apparently been laughing because the chef saw us and said, "That's not my family." So somehow this became a whole ordeal in the kitchen over a completely innocent misunderstanding. We laughed awkwardly because what else do you do at that point? But honestly, the whole interaction felt strange and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the food was even worse than the awkward service. My spouse ordered the all-day seafood soup, and somehow there was basically ZERO seafood in it. That alone was shocking because their soups used to be incredible. My father ordered the broiled platter, and the portion size was honestly embarrassing for a $29 dish. His parsley potatoes consisted of literally five tiny cubes - my mother counted them because we were in disbelief. We have eaten here for years and NEVER saw portions this small. I ordered the fish special, and it was nothing like described. It was supposed to have pecans and blackening seasoning. There were no pecans, no blackening seasoning, and the fish itself was dry, bland, overcooked, and flavorless. For $32, I was served what looked like a tiny sad pile of fish in the middle of a giant empty plate. The pork chop looked beautiful but tasted absolutely awful. At this point I honestly don't know if the kitchen quality has completely collapsed or if nobody is checking food before it leaves the line anymore. Either way, it was terrible. My mother ordered scallops on the half shell as her meal - something she has enjoyed there many times before. This time, the scallops were tiny and somehow greasy. It was shocking these dishes were even leaving the kitchen. What makes this so disappointing is that we truly loved this restaurant. We weren't casual customers. We supported this place for years because we believed the food and experience were worth it. This wasn't just a mediocre meal or an "off night." This was a genuinely terrible dining experience from start to finish, made worse by the fact that it happened on Mother's Day. The service felt awkward and disorganized, the portions were insulting, the food quality was awful, and there seemed to be zero quality control happening anywhere. At this point, our money will be supporting other establishments instead. It's honestly sad because this place USED to be special. I sincerely hope management fixes the kitchen, consistency, and overall professionalism before even more longtime customers walk away.

I ordered the grilled salmon, & it was easily some of the freshest fish I've had lately. It was cooked to perfection, not dry at all, & the seasoning was spot on. The real star, though, was the key lime butter! It provided such a perfect, bright balance to the savory fish. For sides, I went with the spinach salad and a baked potato. The miso dressing on the salad is seriously addicting - super creamy & flavorful. The potato came fully loaded with all the accoutrements on the side (pro-tip: the bacon bits are actually crispy!). The restaurant is impressively clean & spacious, with a great energy. Understandingly busy for a Friday, but I will absolutely be returning soon.
