We discovered this place when visiting frequently to Mayo Clinic. We were always impressed with the food. The shrimp is fresh and hot when ordered. We always happen to be in town for the 30 shrimp special on Tuesday or Thursday. The staff is always helpful friendly and they are constantly busy working. Never time for idle hands. We used to do drive thru but once we went inside we loved the atmosphere and there was always a nice group of people eating and enjoying their meal. Then one visit , they were closed . We were not happy campers . The place was being remodeled and each time we visited we would ride by to see if it was back in business. Today May 21, we passed by routinely and there was life there and a sign saying open now . How delighted. We checked into our hotel and now we're on our way to our favorite place for 30 shrimp because as always it's Thursday. I already know the food will be delicious. Just glad they are opened. For the best deal in town. I went to the recently reopened Shrimp Shack for the Thursday special. It was delicious. Restaurant and restroom were clean. Noise level was low. The food was 4.0. Shrimp and hushpuppies were flavorful, and not greasy. The shrimp were fresh, hot, well-seasoned, with light breading. Hush puppies had a distinct onion flavor that was tasty. The slaw was tasteless. I would not order slaw again. The one guy in the kitchen was working hard, getting orders out in a timely manner. One employee took all the orders. She was prompt and friendly. What brings the rating down: three other employees were standing directly next to the lady taking orders, too engrossed in their conversation to even acknowledge customers. First time I have eaten at Shrimp Shack I ordered the Shrimp Po boy and cheese grits. At first look it pretty standard fried shrimp lettuce and tomato on a grilled bun. The shrimp weren't huge but larger than salad shrimp. They were actually the right size. The fries were well seasoned my biggest gripe would be no remoulade sauce. I first went to this location in 2022. I just found out two two weeks ago that this location is temporary closed. The food here was good, but the service was slightly slow that. I guess it was because it was during the week. I decided to herefor lunch that particular day. Parking here was slightly difficult to find, being that it's a shared parking lot. But, after a couple minutes circling the parking lot, I did manage to find a parking spot. The ambiance within this restaurant is just regular and nothing to brag about. Although many reviews of the place say the hush puppies had a weird taste, I am absolutely hooked on it. Sweet, savory, and slightly garlicky I know I will be coming back just for that. I finally took the bait and dined on a fried shrimp salad. The person who took my order was very nice. The cook(manager?) came out to verify that I wanted fried shrimp on my salad. My food was excellent. I went with a friend in between some meetings. I ordered the fried bass with a baked potato and Cole slaw. This is such a popular place that I forgot was here. Basa The Basa was fried and tasted so fresh. It was seasoned perfectly which tasted delicious. Cole Slaw The Cole slaw was delicious. I'm not really a coke slaw person but was told theirs was good. Good. I needed to find a new spot since the place closer to my office has started to disappoint lately. It's a little bit of a haul for lunch from work but the food seems to be much better. The establishment itself looks like a converted fast food joint so it has that vibe. I ordered the regular sized combo for $10 which came with 6 shrimp and 2 small catfish filets. The catfish was surprisingly good even though I'm guessing it was frozen (but I could be wrong). Shrimp were decent - not popcorn and not butterflied so they were satisfying. Fries were not abundant but again, a good portion for lunch. The second side I chose was cole slaw which leaned towards the sweet side which I don't mind - And of course a pair of hushpuppies rounded out the meal.
