Central West End Metro Station - Central West End Station, Saint Louis

The Metro will deliver you to the Third Base gate of Busch. The Metro travels across two states, I really like it, as a visitor, you can also get to the airport. Buying tickets is a little confusing the first time, and then after buying the tickets no one actually checked them and they weren't needed in either direction but I do like to support public transportation and it's much cheaper than Uber.

Located in the heart of the city's medical corridor, it serves as a practical gateway to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, and the lively Central West End neighborhood. Central West End is between Cortex (heading east into downtown) and Forest Park / DeBaliviere heading west. The station's layout is straightforward and functional, with clear signage and covered platforms that help riders stay oriented even during busy hours. It is an island platform with the tracks on each side. Elevators and ramps provide step-free access, although some of the older infrastructure could use a refresh. Thanks to its proximity to major institutions, the station is generally safe and well-patrolled, with a steady flow of commuters, students, and hospital staff contributing to its active atmosphere. What makes Central West End stand out is how well it connects to the surrounding area. Just beyond the platform, you'll find tree-lined streets, cafés, and historic buildings that invite exploration. Whether you're heading to a medical appointment or grabbing lunch nearby, the station is a reliable and well-placed hub. It may not be flashy, but it gets the job done. In a city where transit options are limited, that reliability matters. [Review 1166 of 2025 - 432 in Missouri - 24719 overall]

A center-island platform with exits at both ends, the track is exposed to the air but is below the street level. That means you'll still get rained on but at least the wind would be minimal. At the one entrance I utilized, they have placed two of the ticket vending kiosks. There is an elevator at this end and it was definitely a wet floor. Sad. The station is not staffed. There is an overhead display with the current time but it did not have any indicator of the time until the next train. Union Station is between Grand (westbound) and Civic Center (eastbound). It is on the part of the Metrolink that serves both the blue and red lines. [Review 14431 overall, 1757 of 2020, number 65 in Missouri.]

This location is located 1 block from the Drury-Union Station and is only $4 from the airport, and $2.50 to the airport as opposed to a coat of $40-50 each way by taxi. Trains come every 10 mins peak time and every 20 min off peak, so plan accordingly. There seems to be a security guard stationed here every time I go, so take that for what it's worth. As with every mode of public transportation, always keep your head on a swivel.
