There are separate entrances depending on which direction you are traveling, so check to see if you are entering the westbound or eastbound entrance. Given the location to the Arch, I found this station pretty sketchy. It is operational and not derelict, but it is in need of a deep clean as it has the foul odor of urine. I avoided lugging my carry-on on its floors and opted to carry it to avoid its stench. Wait times for a train are about 20 minutes, so I would check the train schedule to spend as little time here as necessary or get on at another stop that is not as suspect. The Convention Center stop is marginally better if you do not mind walking a few blocks north.

It is the station closest to the famous Gateway Arch and there is signage pointing the way. It was opened in 1993. There are the usual ticket vending machines. Metrolink is a proof-of-payment system meaning that there are no turnstiles and you must validate your ticket before boarding the train. The station has side platforms, which means that the doors will open on the right. It is on the section of the Metrolink that services both the Red and Blue Lines, where it is between Stadium (towards Airport and Shrewsbury-Landsdowne) and Convention Center (towards Shiloh-Scott and Fairview Heights). The station is fully disabled accessible though there are multiple exits and only some are so configured. At street level, you'll find apartments, office buildings and retail shopping. The place seems mellow, low-key. Few distractions for shopping and eating here. (There may have been none; we just hung out at our gate.) Our flight left a few minutes early; I guess everyone was ready to go. Minus one star because the TSA agent was quite short with me. There was no line and I was not doing anything inappropriate. You don't have to wait long for your bags however they have what I think are public security guards of some sort in the front of the building or absolutely exercising authority, acting like police, being rude, unkind with people who are outside pulling up to pick up passengers. I understand it needs to keep moving however, you don't have to be rude, nasty or unkind or think you're a policeman of some sort. Also, the airport could use some kind of bus to take passengers to the parking lot. This would benefit, especially those with small children or the elderly. Of course they could charge for the service since we all know that one thing Allegiant is known for is the nickel and diming for every little thing. I think people would pay for a bus to take them to their car though.

It is clean, I feel safe and have never experienced is sues with my car. I have also used the long term parking for free when taking a trip via Lambert Airport. Since I have a monthly metro pass, I was able to park for a week for free.

Albert has been hands on with these planes for a long time and has some amazing stories from each of these, how they got there, and their various components. He is also quite a talker, but I found that our 8 year old grandson took in so much information, and had his own number of questions that were all answered with an intent to keep curiosity engaged. It's a quirky place, and is packed with memorabilia, but if you're into learning and gawking and fascinating a youth with airplane history and discussions, it'll be a blast!

There was a lot of information about St. Louis history and culture, not just the usual but also the unusual, which was fun. I would have liked a little more detail about the specific architects and buildings themselves, but there was a lot to get in. The tour lasted exactly 2.5 hours and that was enough. We went to the Hotel St. Louis for lunch afterward so we could spend time in that fantastic art deco space. The restaurant is open breakfast through evening, so it would be a good spot to take a break whenever you might be downtown. The sheer number of truly beautiful historic buildings in downtown St. Louis is so impressive. Yes, some are neglected, but their elegance and scale are stunning. It was interesting to see up close the neighborhood and streets that I read about in the news. I recommend this tour for anyone, but in particular it would be great for locals to take it and see our city for the jewel it is. The walk was easy, the guide (Glenn) was fun and informative, and I was surprised at how spotless downtown is.
