While the bridge remains a marvel, its shadowy understructure makes the station feel a bit dim and enclosed compared to more open-air stops. The station itself is above ground but tucked under the bridge's arches, which gives it a unique but somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere. Metrolink has done a decent job retrofitting the space with stairs and an elevator, making it functional if not especially inviting. It's clear this wasn't originally designed for modern transit, but the adaptation is serviceable. Westbound trains head to Convention Center, while eastbound service crosses the Mississippi River into Illinois, stopping next at East Riverfront. I only passed through briefly and didn't linger. There's not much here in terms of amenities or comfort. It works fine as a transit point, but I wouldn't plan to spend time here unless you're transferring quickly or heading to the Arch. They even provide cards for you to take notes at each stop so you can remember what you thought about the place. It was perfect for our women's event because we were able to all network as we walked, then network with different people at each stop. I'd definitely recommend this as something unique/different to do in St. Louis to enjoy some history, sites and FOOD!

This place runs Saturdays (11-7) and Sundays (Noon-5). I tried it out for the first time last fall and found the overall experience great. They pick you up from the SW commuter lot near highway 40 in a shuttle bus (think senior citizen trip shuttle bus). They then take you to just about any winery you want in the area (the exception being Montelle because Montelle will no longer allow buses near their premises). I found it extremely affordable, especially after seeing what other places in the United States charge. It was only $20, which can't be beat unless you travel out to Hermann. The shuttle buses were clean and the driver was super friendly and accommodating. This is definitely the way you want to travel when visiting the Augusta wineries. My only complaint would be that one of their buses was broken when we went, which made for some long wait times in between the wineries. Hopefully that is fixed now. Finally, I would recommend making a reservation online because they seem to fill up fast (even in the fall). This is definitely something I will do again this year.

Located in the heart of the city's medical corridor, it serves as a practical gateway to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, and the lively Central West End neighborhood. Central West End is between Cortex (heading east into downtown) and Forest Park / DeBaliviere heading west. The station's layout is straightforward and functional, with clear signage and covered platforms that help riders stay oriented even during busy hours. It is an island platform with the tracks on each side. Elevators and ramps provide step-free access, although some of the older infrastructure could use a refresh. Thanks to its proximity to major institutions, the station is generally safe and well-patrolled, with a steady flow of commuters, students, and hospital staff contributing to its active atmosphere. What makes Central West End stand out is how well it connects to the surrounding area. Just beyond the platform, you'll find tree-lined streets, cafés, and historic buildings that invite exploration. Whether you're heading to a medical appointment or grabbing lunch nearby, the station is a reliable and well-placed hub. It may not be flashy, but it gets the job done. In a city where transit options are limited, that reliability matters. [Review 1166 of 2025 - 432 in Missouri - 24719 overall]
