I looked at a number of services and Smarter Shredding actually has a form that gives you an estimate right on their website, you can submit a form to request service right from their website, they come out to your residence and will just empty your boxes, bins, totes into their bin and shred it right there while you watch AND you get a Certificate of Destruction. This was VERY reasonably priced, the gentleman that came to do the shredding was extremely personable, very professional and very efficient. So I literally had an overflowing 13 gallon bag of mail, tax records, etc. For the longest it was rolling around in the back of my car. Anyone who knows me knows I love my car, so I had a short life for it. I knew I could shred at Staples, but the best advice I got there was to open the mail first and throw away anything without identifying info. I started that and quickly ran out of time. So, I looked online and found this place. I called, but they centralize their number listed online to a national call center. The young lady told me that they take walk in's from 8-2 M-F. One day about 1, I brought it in. It's in a suite in a building. It's right inside the door for the suite number, up a very short staircase. There is a buzzer on the door you hit, and wait. It requires patience. I heard a gang of folks talking inside, but the door popped open about 1min 30sec after I buzzed. Basically, you pay $40 base price (see my photos for price sheet). You fill out a form, sign the sheet, and you pay. There is a cash discount. I paid with card, and he called it in to process the payment. I received a receipt and off I went! He took the bag. If you want to see them shred it you have to make an appointment, and those are limited. I'm a Social Worker, so if they want to steal my info they won't get much. I appreciated this place. Could I save money taking it to Staples and shredding it myself? Sure. But the convenience was worth it.
