Got a much needed haircut and happy with it. A haircut and deep conditioning was $45 not including tip for a promo they're having right now. Uber affordable compared to other places I was looking at. I haven't gone to the hair salon for a haircut for more than 5years b/c the last few times were so disappointing and expensive at two other places but I'm glad I tried coming here. My hair was just under the boob and I cut it to shoulder length (maybe 5in off?) I had gotten my hair bleached and dyed somewhere else and it damaged my hair so much so I needed it gone b/c is was snowing split ends whenever I brushed my hair. Now I can actually run my fingers through my hair . When my hair grows out some more I'll come back to cut the rest of my dyed hair off ( will probably take a year since my hair grows so slowly ). I made an appointment here in Yelp with Christine, and she made an appointment for me with Ariel. She was timely in responding to my questions. I was curious as to whether or not my face shape could pull off bangs, and I had some questions on the shape of my bob. Ariel was SUPER friendly and helpful. Love this place! I had previously only gotten my haircut at cheap and questionable Asian establishments but now that I am a bit older (and can afford haircuts), I wanted to find a better salon. Sara(h) cut my hair and she was awesome! I'm not usually a chatty person but she was so friendly that I found myself comfortable enough to talk with her. She also reassured me during the entire process when I asked questions about what she was doing. I could tell she was experienced in cutting hair, and she styled my hair with a round brush in a way that I've never seen before. So impressed :') Not to mention, she gave me the best head/scalp massage that I have ever experienced when she was washing my hair. Bonus points right there. The atmosphere is also inviting and friendly! The salon didn't look all bougie like some high end salon, and it also didn't look like a sketchy place with only the bare minimum items that a salon needs to be called a salon (I swear I've been to places like this). It has it's own unique vibe. Overall, great haircut at a great price. I was expecting to pay much more but it's super reasonable for the service and quality here. Wow! I seen this place a couple of times across the way from Show down Tattoo but never asked about it. So when I went with a friend to the shop I asked about them because I had seen their outstanding wall paper & they said It was a continuous of their shop Called Show down Beauty Parlor! I quickly raced over and ran into a receptionist who was rather too good to talk to me and my friend. She was a tall dark woman with long black hair. She was really no help and said we would have to go back to where we went to get our RED & BLACK highlights done because she didn't know the placement. So me & my friend just left.. it was for her hair Btw. WELL, shortly after I checked them out on Facebook and seen their work and was really interested so I called and asked for an appointment to get some highlights done. Right when I got there and met Nikki we became the best of friends! My permanent Hair Stylist for sure!! :D She made me feel so comfortable and we had the best conversation. Everyone else was busy doing Errands so it was just me and her but she sure made me feel at home! * They have gummy bears & Mimosa's for the meantime.. I ate a cup of gummy bears! Awesome snack! They also ask if you want more and I couldn't resist . They definitely take care of you! This place may be slightly small but I think since they are barely up and going its perfect since it makes a more better personal experience & you always want to feel like the person doing your hair really cares about you as a person not just because your going to pay them after. Nikki was perfect, She'd let me know WHAT was going in to my hair, HOW she was going to put it in, & WHY it was good for my hair as well! LOVED HER. Well, my end result was that I did a full head of highlight Red and blonde but unfortunately my hair wouldn't be able to handle to blonde so I would have to go back in a couple weeks to re do them.. I actually like the color so I just decided to stay with it but once I get some $$$ I'll def be back for my 6 month hair cut & maybe some more Gummy Bears! This salon is a hidden gem in Walnut! It's located next to the tattoo parlor, but in a separate building. Tiny lot but I've always found a spot to park. I've been going here shortly after it opened and haven't switched since. I don't do anything fancy, just trim and blow dry...but I prefer to let Nikki touch my hair. I get straight bangs and she always know the perfect length I want, and is very understanding and appreciative of my long hair! I've come across many stylist who just want me to chop it off, but Nikki will tell me "don't ever change!"...I love that. I'll chop it off when I feel like it! I just love her personality and we hit it off right off the bat, which is why she is my preference. I've also gotten my hair cut by Susie and Andrew (if memory serves me correct) when Nikki wasn't available, and they got it just right too! Andrew is a wizard with the hair dryer. I had a terrible experience here. I came in March with black hair the length of my back and I wanted gray/silver hair. I went in expecting it to be a month or two long process so I was prepared to have orange hair for a while. I think the girl that did my hair was Jasmine and as she had the bleach in my hair she kept saying "I'm not going to let you leave with orange hair" so she left the bleach in or whatever product it was for I believe 2 hours. There was steam coming off of my hair but I didn't question anything. When she finally washed my hair my sister came up to me and said my hair is falling out and turning into mush but I thought she was joking. Then Jasmine said it's normal to have some breakage blah blah blah and I went home and the complete bottom layer of my hair was like 4 inches long! I ended up paying almost $200 for my hair to fall out and feel gummy for months. I ended up cutting off over half the length of my hair because it was sooo damaged. read more
