Three star rating based on service. Our waitress CD was attentive and present. She greeted the early members of my party and suggested we order to allow ample time for preparation. She also explained her encouragement based on everything being prepared fresh and to allow 20 - 25 minutes for chef to prepare. As we were giving orders to CD we were greeted by Chef Samuel. He was engaging and informative. He answered all of our questions and even invited my 70 year old group leader out for dancing! We all enjoyed his personality and he assured us all food would be prepared with love. I opted for the Champagne shrimp. It came with a sauce, with Champagne I guess though do not recall seeing on menu listing or tasting. It also came with mixed greens salad, veggie medly of squash, carrots, spinach and sauteed onions. It was quite tasty. I chose pasta to accompany my shrimp, but would probably pick double veggies in the future. Rice with herbs of some sort were an option too. The shrimp were large and butterfly style. I didn't notice much flavor other than the BBQ sauce on one traded with a companion. I was hoping for a twist on BBQ, but it was fairly basic. The shrimp were also a bit tough as if they had been overcooked. Several people felt the same way about their shrimp offerings. I did expect more due to price average of $20 and up. As far as I could tell, those who ordered salmon and the rainbow trout were pleased. Salmon portion size was impressive. Dessert offerings were plentiful and oversized too. The cakes and cheesecake options all looked enticing, but had to defer to my next visit. I tried this restaurant a month ago in College Park, Showcase Eatery. I picked up their champagne shrimp and rainbow trout with sautéed vegetables and salad. Their portions are huge. Uuge. But the star of the show is their sweet yeast bread. I wish I could show you but I gobbled that up. I hope they are open on Veterans Day Sunday. They would be doing our community a culinary service. I just had the best dinning experience and even better food! Y'all! This food was sooooooo good! Let's start with the bread. The bread is a warm and sweet flavor that literally melts in your mouth. Almost like a Krispy Kreme donut. Then I ordered the chicken and shrimp (my husband ordered the same). When I tell you that it was sooo flavorful and delicious! Oh and let's not forget the raspberry tea that was sooo good! O M G! I want to go to the kitchen and hug the cook! Lol The service was also excellent! Our server (Needra) was very kind and walked us through the menu and made suggestions. This spot is super cute and has a lot of character. We will be back! Apparently my party of 3 was there at, about or around the same time as the previous reviewer. Though my brunch meal of shrimp and grits with a house salad was tasty enough (though owner/chef used smotheringly too much salad dressing) the taste was grossly overshadowed by the grotesque, shabby "un"chic, poorly coordinated, junky, homemade décor, dreadfully long (2 hour wait) and the OUTRAGEOUS prices. There is no way it was even remotely worth $27 for my meal alone, then presented to me handwritten on a strip of cash register tape. Perhaps the owner should consider doing catering instead. The waiter was nice enough though a bit of a sycophant whose constant interruptions became downright annoying and actually "served" to exaggerate the absence of the food. Sadly I cannot endorse or recommend this fellow culinarian/restaurateur. read more

I have to give this place two stars because the food is pretty good but not worth the long wait and bad service. Our waitress was nice but that couldn't take place of the long food wait. We had a slightly large party and it took about 2 hours for everyone to get their food and the food arrive two-3 plates at a time instead of all together. So while some of our guests had food, others were left looking around and watching other eat. The owner clearly cooks the food fresh but 2 hours to get food and have it sent plate by plate every 30 minutes is ridiculous. The decor at this place is very different and unique, I love that. But I won't be back. It's other restaurants on Main Street with better service and wait time. read more

The service was exceptional, Nedra kept our glasses full and table neat. The menu has enough options to satisfy everyone but not overwhelm you with choices. This was the WORST dinning experience I have EVER had. I kept thinking that in any minute someone was going to come in and say "your on candid camera" A reservation was made however, they were totally under staffed and unprepared. The reservation was for 6pm and at 10:00pm everyone in the party had not been served. I only stayed because it was my sister's birthday and I didn't want her to feel any worst then she already did. The service was so bad I felt embarrassed for the restaurant. This place should be closed down. One of the tables they sit us at was broken and a window pane fall and broke over my 3 year old niece head. My 11 year old Grandson has food allergies and was crying because he never got his food, alone with my 80 year old mother "AND" 5 other people in our 17 people party. THE WORST DINNING EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I'll start by saying the food was amazing, but the customer service was awful and good food does not make up for poor service. We were a large group celebrating a birthday. The restaurant is not equipped to handle large groups and they should have told us that. They had one person in the kitchen and only 2 servers on the floor for the entire restaurant. We waited an hour after being seated just for water, and we ended up getting water ourselves after the server only brought water for half the party. But the worst part was that the "management" argued with us and blamed us for the poor service. Who argues with their customers after they have spent 4 hours in your restaurant waiting on their food? After 4 hours, some of the people in our party still had not been served. We were trying to support a black business, but I will never return or recommend this restaurant to ANYONE. read more

I go out for great food that I can duplicate at home. Most times I succeed, Last night I had the best Chillan Sea Bass ever. I have ordered this dish in every city that I have visited in the last 25 years. Chef Sam prepared it better than I could have imagined. It was so scrumptious I forgot the price and left a NICE tip. i highly recommend SHOWCASE EATERY, especially if you have out of town guest to impress. I visited the Showcase Eatery for the second time. The first time I visited, I went with my family who recommended this restaurant. The food (Champagne Shrimp over pasta) was very tasty; I requested extra spice (I'm from Louisiana) and the results were beyond my expectations. What impressed me the most was the portion sizes; salad and the entree. The 2nd time I visited the restaurant, I took a friend who is also from Louisiana. She chose the salmon and shrimp over pasta with grilled veggies. She informed me that she was VERY SATISFIED and would love to come back the next time she is in town. I had the champagne shrimp over pasta with grilled veggies again (extra spice of course). The homemade bread was wonderful and as expected, the salad was good and filling. However, the next time I will ask for the dressing on the side. And, I will order something different; perhaps the shrimp and grits. The service was good, however, getting seated as well the service is slow; but, a personal visit at the table by Chef Sam was an unexpected treat. I am so impressed with the food, I sent pictures home to my friends and they want to visit when they are in town. I WILL make that happen. I'm trying to understand why my food was cold after waiting for about 3 hours. I honesty have never experienced anything like this in my life. Showcase Eatery was highly recommended by a couple friends, I was told that there would be a little wait but the food was excellent and it would be worth the wait. They currently don't have a liquor license, the waiters were nice, I'm trying to find something nice to say about this place. I'm not sure if this place has potential or not. NEVER, EVER, EVER EAT HERE! This was my birthday and I actually cried. We had a large party and had a reservation. We were NEVER told that they could not accommodate such a large party. However, we did not receive water, bread or any service until well after we had been there for an hour.
