For $30, she threw some "rizz" on my boy! (At the age of 53, I have absolutely no clue if that word was just used properly or not?! Nonetheless, my kid was extremely happy about his new 'do, and I'm sure the 3rd grade "ladies" over at Whispering Oak Elementary would agree! My teenage daughter just "cringed". (I'm learning...). OK...well, now I feel would be a good time to conclude this review! Please know, and with 100% seriousness, our lady in the 2nd Booth from the front door was great! She was awesome at making my shy, always trying too hard to be cool, and quite picky, 9 year old feel great, comfortable and and with a newfound confidence. I suppose that is what a new look, expertly created, can do for you! I forgot to mention that she was quick, as well! We walked in (no appt) around 6:30pm pn a Tuesday night and there was only one other customer in the joint. During our 20 min or so, that guy finished and another guy entered and was promptly greeted and taken care of by the young man near the back. After roughly 17-20 minutes, my lil dood shook off the excess strands of cut hair and walked out of EVOLVED with a whole lot more "rizz" and you cannot place a price tag on that! My son's hair has NEVER looked better and I mean that!!! That is why we will be returning to EVOLVED every 3-4 weeks as we go forward!

Once I got home, I went to a different shop and they immediately saw and fixed the issue. This shop has a great reputation so I think might've been an off day.

Military friendly, this business assures customer satisfaction with people friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere and quick service with out the loss of quality. The BEST Barbershop in Oceanside with the BEST Barbers I have ever been to. Served 22 years in the US Army and got my haircut all around the world and Short Cuts is absolutely the BEST I have ever been to. Great place to get a quick haircut. Went with my boyfriend here for his usual haircut. The ladies that work here are super friendly and take great care in cutting your hair. They did a really good job on my boyfriends hair, and he is honestly the pickiest person when it comes to hair. Another GREAT haircut from Janet @ Short Cuts on Freeman in Downtown O'Side! It had been 11 months since my last cut. Don't let the name fool ya... several of the lovely stylists DO 'LONG CUTS/HAIR' too...its NOT just for the Marines, Sailors and those old timey vets that have kept their style since the 1950's(MY vision of a 'Barber shop'). I called ahead of time and let them know I was going to be there 10 mins after they closed. I was told they would be open and wait for me. Service was incredible! Short Cuts Barbershop has a very friendly staff. You get a great haircut for a reasonable price. They took their time with my haircut to make sure they did a good job. When I left, I wasn't covered in hair from head to toe. With the job they do cleaning you up, you could leave there and go out in public not looking like you just had a haircut. Mission Square Barbershop is located on Mission Avenue, across the street from the high school, within the Walmart shopping center. Admittedly, they may be a little tricky to find, because they are tucked all the way in the corner. Parking may be tricky due to the lack of specific spaces. Although they share a lot with the shopping center, most of the spaces in front are labeled for two hours only. Although, I have never seen any patrol actually for this time restriction. Mission Square Barbershop has been serving the Oceanside community for over 25 years. The owner, Javier, he's very kind and friendly and cares very much for the quality of his performance and the happiness of the customers. As of November 2025, they are running a special where they only charge $15 for haircuts on Monday and Tuesday (from 5 PM to 9 PM). On any other day, customers can enjoy $5 off of their haircut services. I went in to get a simple skin fade on my side, and it was very little wait time. Actually, it was rather empty for the duration of my haircut. Due to their proximity to the military base, many may assume that they specialize in military haircut styles. But in actuality, they're professional, and they also invite children for haircuts as well. Their seating area is large, they have a television for entertainment, and also a snack and juice vending machine. Service was fast and friendly, and I appreciated the attention to detail. With my haircut finished, I left as a happy satisfied customer that will return again. If you are in the area and looking to support a small business and receive a qualitative haircut, I recommend Mission Square Barbershop in downtown Oceanside.
