Most new parks I'm introduced to by my dad who walks anywhere and everywhere with our dog, Cooper. We were both feeling like an evening stroll and an ice cream and he suggested going down to Bronte - an area that is really nice, but not one I often go to! We parked at a waterfront park which seemed like the trail was very elevated but as we walked down I noticed a sign that said this spot was okay for swimming. I was a bit hesitant to believe that because...you know..lake Ontario? Swimming? Boy was I pleasantly surprised! This beach is adorable, well maintained, the perfect spot for an evening picnic. The shoreline was sandy and not full of rocks like many other beaches in this area. There is an area on the opposite side of the pier that is more rocky, but you could still sit on larger rocks or bring a chair on that side as well. The trail itself isn't too long, so if you're looking for more of a hike this probably isn't your jam.

If you are looking for a place to have a family outdoor gathering with plenty of space for the kids to play, this is the place. The best part is the view of the lake is spectacular. It's an enormous park which has plenty of trails, picnic benches, and activities to do such as a small beach, kayaking or swimming in the lake, or playing sports or games with friends and family in the parks. If you have something, put it aside in a closed bucket etc, and get rid of it later after leaving the area. Teach the young ones to NOT play close to the pier edge, and if they have trash, to dispose of it properly. There are many nearby houses/homes. Noise and voices carry during the day and especially at NIGHT. Please be respectful of others and keep your voice low. The appearance of the harbor area, pier and surrounding areas reflect on the town of Wilson and its residents; please act responsibly, don't trash the pier areas and waters, and be a responsible user of the area to keep it clean and usable for others. Nobody likes coming to a harbor area and pier to see food/cups, cigarettes, and general trash in the water and on the ground. If you fish on the pier, please keep track of your gear and fishing hook. How you act and leave the area(s) reflect not only on you and others, but affects the whole town of Wilson!

Did this trail three times, once clockwise about quarter way, once counter clockwise about quarter…read moreway and just recently the complete 8km trail. The complete 8 km walking trail was boring for me as much of it is not covered be trees and it was a hot day. The part that is covered is good. But the only issue is it relatively flat and this does not add any challenges. There is paid parking and many people also park near Home Hardware and a grocery store.

Our contact, Meghan, has been super awesome about handling all of our random questions leading up to the ceremony and has been super accommodating. The park itself is really lovely, right on the lake. They also have an amphitheatre over the water at the beach area which is available to book for functions (this is where we are going to get married). We really wanted to find a place in nature without having to drive too far from the city - this was the perfect spot for us!

We haven't been…read moreto Silver Lake before, and decided to make this our destination to enjoy the scenic autumn lake. Silver Lake State Park itself is pretty small, and consists of a large parking area, a boat launch, a public restroom, a small playground, a small pavilion, and about a dozen or so picnic areas, each with a table, grill, and firepit. There is a small dock, I'm guessing for kayakers to use, which we sat on to enjoy the lake breezes; it was a very warm fall 85-degree day when we visited, so this was nice. Silver Lake itself is bigger than I thought it would be, probably a decent, roomy lake if you are a boater, maybe comparable to one of the smaller Finger Lakes. We didn't fish this day, but there were several fisherpeople along the shores too, still with plenty of room to spread out. One thing lacking from this park is any nature trails. We walked the perimeter of the picnic areas, and didn't find any trailheads. Since one of our favorite things to do as a fam' is what we call "adventure walks" through the woods, no trails here was a let-down. The main draw is really the boat launch, or if you want to picnic with lake views. Admission was $6, paid at a self-service terminal when you come in. Since they did have an open public bathroom facility (that was pretty clean), this was fair. If you're in the Silver Lake area looking for a picnic, fishing, and/or kayaking/boating spot, Silver Lake State Park will probably suit you well.

I usually jog around this Lake. It is really nice, and yes, it does have swans and geese. The only…read moredownside is that there are a lot of bugs. there are plenty of paths, room to sit, and play areas for the kids. There is also a splash pad. If you are into photography, there are lots of sights to take pictures of. I wouldn't recommend heading out on the ice or going for a swim. I think it is illegal. There are a few lakes around that people fish in though, so I don't know if it is legal to fish here. There might not be any fish at all as well. Overall, this is a great place for a stroll or to walk your dog or cat or whatever you walk?

(varies) The sandy area is quite large, lot's of room to spread out. The water is pretty clean, and is a nice temperature. You can also rent paddle boats and canoes and such for additional fees. They also have a large water slide for the kids to go on. Unfortunately, for some strange reason the day we went it was closed which disappointed the kids. This is a nice clean area to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and can enjoy the beach. 4/5

A breathtaking lake for miles and a…read moretrail to walk, the other side has houses and is private, and as of lately they have fenced off the edges so you can no longer fish there or sit on the rocks which is a pain. Regardless though it's amazing and so relaxing just strolling down by the lake, and taking in the fresh air and the views :)
