There are separate sections for small dogs and large dogs so the small dogs don't get trampled. The small dog section has a little obstacle course of sorts that reminds me of dog shows. Both sections have a few sitting areas and a basket filled with an assortment of toys. There's a new baseball diamond with covered dug out. The bad: The softball field and old baseball field do not have covered dugouts. The jungle gym is very small. The ugly: I'm not sure how well kept the nature trail is, but the entrance appeared a little over grown. There's some poison ivy in the large dog enclosure so be careful.

Checking in is easy and you can buy campfire wood and ice from the main office, and they'll even deliver it right to your campsite which was nice because there was no way I was gonna be able to carry 4 bundles of wood ($5 each) on my bike. They do have a nice playground. Not sure if I mentioned that in my first review. This is a good campground for families. The only thing I negative I can say about this place, and it isn't even their fault so I won't deduct any stars, is that there's a dairy farm right across the street from the entrance out on the main road so if the wind blows just right you get that awful ammonia and poop smell throughout the campground.

Even though it was early May, and camping yurts and other things in park, weren't open, hardly anyone at park with it being offseason, we sure did enjoy the exploration of the park. Sadly we didn't check out the light house, as it was closed. The playground replica of the Point Light House was fun to go on, yes, as an adult, Ill admit we both enjoyed letting out our inner child. The nature trails may have been a bit muddy from recent rain, but easy to manage, recommend if you check park out after rain, wear hiking boots, or sneakers you don't mind getting dirty. Perfect for anyone whose a nature lover.

Four Mile Creek State Park, New York I found this campground…read moreon Https://parks.ny,gov as I was planning a trip, a lifelong goal, to see Niagara Falls. I chose Four Mile Creek State Park for its proximity to the Falls, and nearby attractions like Fort Niagara, an Aquarium, the Niagara Power Vista, and the Underground Railroad Heritage Center, to name a few. This camp offers a shuttle service to these places, no need to worry about parking! I was welcomed by a cheerful office staff and given a map for the Niagara Falls State Park. I went to my site 13, it was nicely shaded and I had access to 30amp service and water a few sites away. The bathrooms & showers were clean and had access to washer/dryer. I met lots of nice people and the weather was great. (6/1 to 6/8) Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and accommodating. Shout out to maintenance staff, Mike, the shuttle driver and Tim, manning the Camp Store. In fact, Tim even circulates the campground every night after the store is closed with ice & firewood. I visited the Falls, walking all over the American side then walked across the bridge to Canada for lunch observing the Canadian side of the Falls. But my favorite thing about this whole journey was the sunsets on Lake Ontario. On clear nights, the city of Toronto is visible. Every night campers would drift down to the field on the lake to watch the sunset. It was the most mesmerizing thing, many different people connecting with this beautiful world.

You walk into an apple orchard if you take a certain trail. They have a boy scout display that is partly still around, but seems like some of it has since been destroyed. There is a nice, clean restroom building as well as pavilions for rental and a pond for fishing. Semi-recently a disc golf course was added, which I'm not a fan of because they cut down a decent amount of the front part of woods and it takes away from the experience in nature. But, I suppose it's a good way to bring more people to the park. The hiking trails can be a bit rooty, rocky and muddy in parts, so best to pay attention to your footing. I don't mind it because it makes the hike more challenging. There are up and down hills as well as a suspension bridge. The trails are marked with different colors. I also like that it's not easy to get lost here since I have a pretty bad sense of direction. Also, I've seen birds, deer, chipmunks, squirrels and snakes here. Whether you want to have a picnic by the pond, get a good hike in or both, Royalton Ravine is a nice setting for it!

There's the Olott Beach Carousel Park (closed this year due to Covid), Krull Park, and Olcott Beach. The beach was actually closed last year because of exceptionally high water level in Lake Ontario that totally eroded away the entire beach and covered all the piers. The beach is back this year, though not as wide as it was previously and most of the docks are still under water. It's been a decent place to go this year especially during the week when there's not much of a crowd. The beach was pretty empty on my last visit. Check it out!

I ma a huge rock hound, crystal nut- not just because my name is Crystal, I've loved picking up shiny rocks since I was a small child. Quartz and mica are two I remember finding often as a child. Here- they had a huge inventory of various raw and polished stones, fossils, animal bones and such. And that was just in the Nature Exchange! The park is wonderful too, plenty of trails to lead you down by the river, wonderful trees, great overlook viewpoints throughout. As part of the Niagra Parks system, they have bike trails too. We stopped here twice, once to explore and once for me to pop back in with my photos and pick out a raw piece of turquoise! A birthday win for me! Shout out to the young lady who talked to me in the morning, she wasn't there when I returned- and I am pretty sure the 2 young men thought I was crazy (I am), but they were all very helpful for this big kid out playing in nature!

The third activity of the second day of our family vacation to Western New York (Day 2, Venue 3)…read morewas Porter on the Lake Town Park. Our goals were twofold: to watch the sunset over Lake Ontario, and to do it for free. Given the admission fees charged at the area's state parks, accomplishing these goals proved more challenging than expected, until we struck gold with Porter on the Lake! Approximately 38.3 acres in size, the park was privately held until 2008 by a succession of companies, including Occidental Petroleum and Hooker Chemical, who used it for company parties back in the day. Facilities onsite include the usual assortment of playground equipment, a large pavilion building, basketball court, a surprisingly large and very modern restroom, and about 500ft of beachfront. Across the lake, the skyline of Toronto is clearly visible despite being 30 miles distant. While our visit to the park only lasted about an hour, we found it be exceptionally clean, spacious, and in excellent condition. Best of all, the beach made for a fantastic sunset for the entire family!
