In addition to the bike and walking paths that pass through this park, it gets used for winter sports like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There's tennis courts, too. No playgrounds that I can tell, but that makes it an ideal place to observe wildlife or have a quiet picnic. I've been in the area so many times without realizing this was here. Lots of benches, some with shade, some without. There's a pond for fishing. Just a lovely jewel in the suburbs near the university. Makes me wish I could have a do-over because my college experience would probably be a lot nicer in a place like this.

A nice wooden bridge, Ellicott creek, a ton of planted trees , the American flag, and several wooden benches fill up this park, which reaches from North Forest to the UB campus. The best part of this walk, though, was when it started raining and we were heading back....... amazingly, a mama and baby deer came really close to the trail, eating grass and looking up at us every once in a while. That made for a great photo opportunity! I'll be back to take a ride on my bike sometime.... P.S. be cautious of your GPS , the address lead me to the golf course, not the park. The parking lot is on North Forest Ave just a bit past Maple .

We were thrilled to discover two sets of multiple hammocks in excellent condition for public use along the lake just past the 1 mile marker from the start of the wellness trail. Each setup included two tandem hammocks for sitting and three hammocks to stretch out on for a nice break from your walk or ride. And as you leave the nature trail to head back to Wilkenson Pointe, there are a couple wooden swings. You can easily make a day of visiting the Greenway Nature Trail and Wilkenson Pointe, and catching a ferry to Canalside. The path is level enough for rollerbladers.

The trail is 1.2 miles. It stops where they are constructing a building and then winds around. You can park along Fuhrmann Boulevard. There is a hook up area that had hammocks on it last summer. There is a small gravel parking area near welcome sign, overflow parking across the street. Crossing Leydecker can be dangerous due to curves/blind spots in road. Trail is uneven/has steep hill/cliff in certain areas. Would not recommend trail for children or people with poor balance/poor health, though it is not a challenging trail for those used to hiking. Highly recommend you bring a fully charged cellphone/other safety devices of choice, as this is not monitored & there are no ways to report an injury or emergency, no rest areas, benches, comfort stations, safety rails or features, so enter at your own risk. Leashed dogs are allowed (ensure proper tick treatments first, Lyme disease warning at trailhead), bring out anything you bring in. No trash receptacles. Trail is overgrown and not well cared for, slippery, narrow in areas. Unfortunately on occasion, we found old sofas and other trash thrown near the trail.

You walk into an apple orchard if you take a certain trail. They have a boy scout display that is partly still around, but seems like some of it has since been destroyed. There is a nice, clean restroom building as well as pavilions for rental and a pond for fishing. Semi-recently a disc golf course was added, which I'm not a fan of because they cut down a decent amount of the front part of woods and it takes away from the experience in nature. But, I suppose it's a good way to bring more people to the park. The hiking trails can be a bit rooty, rocky and muddy in parts, so best to pay attention to your footing. I don't mind it because it makes the hike more challenging. There are up and down hills as well as a suspension bridge. The trails are marked with different colors. I also like that it's not easy to get lost here since I have a pretty bad sense of direction. Also, I've seen birds, deer, chipmunks, squirrels and snakes here. Whether you want to have a picnic by the pond, get a good hike in or both, Royalton Ravine is a nice setting for it!

You do not need to do a long hike to enjoy it, you can be standing near it within 2 minutes, which makes it perfect for quick stops or bringing people who are not looking for a big trek. If you do want a little more time outside, there are plenty of trails to make your walk longer. You can turn it into a loop or wander a bit in some fresh air. There are usually enough people around to remind you that you are in a park, but not so many that it feels crowded. It strikes a nice balance between social and being chill. Woods aside, there are areas to play, grill, and hang out. It is the kind of place that works well for a picnic or small gathering or a solo walk. Simple, pretty, and easy to enjoy. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I will be back.

A shockingly well maintained park…read more Beautiful trails that go deep in the woods. My family was chased by raccoons once. I went yesterday and multiple people were taking photos of the foliage. And a really nice big playground. They have subtle but cute Christmas lights display when the season comes. And their softball league is run better than MLB. Shout out to the Cheektowaga rec department for this gem.

My…read moreaunt has always talked about it and we all made plans a week after to go for a brisk walk on the trail. There are a few entrances onto the trail; the two main entrances, the start and end, or vice versa, of the trail is Union Road by the junk yard, across from the Erie County Water Authority (there is a parking lot), and Medina Street. If you start on Medina Street, you have to cross William Street to continue on the trail. I would recommend just starting on Strawn Ave., to avoid the traffic and potential hazardous experiences crossing traffic. If you don't start the trail from the two end points, you can pick it up at Stradtman Street, which has a parking lot, Kennedy, St. Felix, and Ludwig Ave. We were there around 7pm on a Monday and it was pretty active with walkers, bikers, and dog walkers. It is a great little trail parallel with the railroad track. I like that they made use of this space for recreational purposes instead of not doing anything with it at all. It is peaceful and a cool path. I would recommend going with at least one other person because it is secluded, by train tracks, and you don't want to end up on a true crime podcast. I didn't feel in jeopardy at all, but you always want to be safe. We brought Cooper, my mom's dog, and he ended up going to the bathroom twice. We only had one bag. It was ok though, because along the trail there are bags for such things and garbage cans. I loved that feature. It keeps the trail extra clean too. Wildlife report: Bunnies. No deer on the night we went.
