I feel bad for this ShopRite page, because they moved down to another building and it's amazingly impressive, with new sections and even the staff seems new. Sadly, I'm not sure how to edit this and even the location is a bit off now. Minor complaint is that I wish the ready to eat food bar and sections were a bit more affordable (imagine if they had a soup and sandwich or hot food deal) and I do think the old ShopRite had more sales, especially on frozen veggies and dinner items, but their selection is impressive and I rarely have to wait on line to checkout because they have so much self-checkout stations. read more

The problem with Shoprite in Old Bridge off is that the produce is terrible as soon as you take it home by the next day it's rotting , sometimes I pick up fruit and vegetables and they are ice cold. I think that they freeze them because if you cut it in half when you get home a peach or a nectarine it's brown inside but looks beautiful on the outside. read more

In comparison to Clark's ShopRite this newly renovated store is a pleasure! Wide aisles, lots of selection, a variety of hot and cold food bars, coffee stations and an a pleasing interior make this budget friendly store (if we can call any grocery bill "budget" these days) a nice way to shop. It reminds me a bit of Wegmans and feels higher end than it is. Plenty of parking but since it's on Rt 22, it can be a bit difficult to get to. read more

This review is for the brand new next-door location Suite No. 7, which opened only last weekend is marvelous! A comprehensive review would be really long, but it is a major part of every day life here, so we shall start with the enormous expansion of prepared food sections. Eating out has majorly shifted too fast casual now take and go and ShopRite excels in the latter. The sheer variety and clear signage with good branding. Clear branding with signage and labeling both is an excellent step up for the marketing thus the customer experience. They have raised their game with all the area ShopRite's is also going to this high quality format. At least, during this opening week, there is superfluous and very visible staffing with all new uniforms, proud to be part of this major rise in the area's quality of living. The presentation is perfect everywhere and all of the execution is top marks. Of course, the ShopRite private label brands and shared width of inventory and covering all the range of quality in selection it's a huge part of local living. Big points for amenities like clean bathrooms, strong free Wi-Fi, and all new seating to enjoy the said prepared food. On the outside, there is an even larger Friday of seasonal items and gardening and the cleaned up parking lot. There is good also because all the Blue Star Mall tenants share in the new goodness. Only downside is that all items seem to be $.50 more, understandably so for the brand new location, as well as the supply chain difficulties. Directions to Village who operates many area, ShopRite as well as Fairway in Manhattan, so there is Fairway branded coffee from the virtual baristas in the front of the store. read more

I bought a $34.90 Bell & Evans chicken breast family pack at 3:36 PM and went straight to my car. When I opened my trunk, the chicken had a strong rotten smell that made me nauseous. I immediately went back inside with the receipt and the product. The service coordinator at the customer service desk was extremely rude and repeatedly insisted there was "no way" I had just purchased it, even though my receipt clearly showed the time and item. She even told the manager, "You deal with her, I don't believe her." It was embarrassing to be treated like I was lying. Thankfully the manager handled the return professionally, but the way I was treated at the service counter was completely unacceptable. read more

The new store is attractive and 100% better than the old one. They usually have lots of cashiers, which is great. On the negative side, they don't always have what we need and their stock clears out very fast. The anti-theft lock on the carts is terrible. I did not know about this and crossed the threshold when I realized I was parked one row over. The wheels seized with a cart jammed with groceries. Luckily a kind stranger helped me drag the cart to my car. It makes the store feel trashy. I will never get a big order here again. read more

The new redesigned ShopRite in this location is amazing! It should have its ratings reset as most of the previous were when it was in its old space that they frankly outgrew and was too small for demand and current offerings from grocery stores today. I like most everything in Shoprite but it s bit overwhelming in size. 2 things I do not like-1, the cashiers never ask if they could help you bag.They started doing that in Sterling and it was very helpful.I am not asking them to pack it all, just help esp if the person isolder. NOW the BIG one.....I figured out that you can't take the carts out of the store by using the walkway.As soon as you are off the property, the left front rubber tire seizes up and the cart hits you in the midsection so you have to carry all your stuff to the car.Today, I was walking in the parking lot and the above happened!!! I was 2 cars from car and had to take my stuff to my car but i could not move the cart! WHY??if it is raining or snowing this will be a major issue. read more

Just moved to the area, I'm a normal shop rite customer. Probably one of the worst shoprites I've ever been to. Has nothing to do with how outdated the store is, but more so the people who work there. Unfortunately I do not know the name of the employee, possibly Tyree, or something of that nature. Front cash register next to self checkout on April 9th around 8pm. Maybe two registers were open, I decided to slide into the one right next to self checkout, 3 customers in front of me. I start unloading about 85 dollars worth of products. Proceed to watch this kid incapable of counting the change let alone do it in a professional or orderly manner. I'm assuming the customer was a relative or someone they were familiar with because they wouldn't stop "messing" around with each other. after 5 min of that back and forth. Here comes customer 2&3 who must also be with the first customer in this sequence. Same story, bickering.. after back and forth and messing around another 5 min goes by I'm 8 months pregnant and have little patience by this point.. so I just decided to start taking my groceries off the belt and go to self checkout. As I start packing up my items they all start talking shit and laughing at me , while the 3 lady customer proceeds to outloud say "aren't THEY the worst". Now it's turned racial. I just ignored it, kept it moving to self checkout and I will never be returning This store is ABSOLUTE TRASH, the proof is in the lack of customer service let alone common decency for the fellow human being. read more

Like all my fellow Yelpers below, I think this store is severely outdated and could used a revamp. I tend to stop in when I need something very quickly on my way home. But honestly, after living next to newer Shoprites, I'm not impressed. There are limited options for a lot of things, such as high quality meats, frozen items, etc. The store doesn't look extremely clean like other locations I have been in. I have been to this store a few times recently since moving to the area but I normally try to avoid it at all costs. I received their circular in the mail and made note of what I wanted to get before shopping. Now I saw they had a sale on some cosmetics so being new to this particular location I was having a hard time finding them. I proceeded to walk the entire store 3 times with no luck. Finally I saw an employee and inquired as to where the cosmetics were only to be told they don't sell cosmetics there... I have never been to a SR that didn't sell cosmetics before and why were they advertised on sale there in the circular that is personalized for Watchung? No one knows... No one can say all the SR circulars are identical because I have another SR circular from the next County over where I moved from and it's not the same. They have differences in the coupons and page set up too. This store seems very disorganized and how they have the isles arranged makes to sense to me. They normally have only 2 regular check out lines open and the rest self checkout. Also the cashiers aren't very friendly. If you have a choice I recommend shopping at another SR location. read more

I absolutely hate this ShopRite; "Linden, I miss you!". Let me be honest, I totally miss Pathmark, but I've had no choice but to adjust. ShopRite prays on the fact there isn't much competition out there. They are the closest supermarket to me, but this one seems to be a bit overpriced, $21.99/lb for snow crab legs! Are you kidding me? Also this location is a bit small and appears outdated. I went one morning after I got off of work, it was a little after 6:00 am and they weren't even opened yet. I prefer to do my grocery shopping before I go home, when it's not too crowded; we'll that's not going to happen here. In addition, when merchandise is improperly priced you basically have to have a stand-down and debate to have their error honored. Thank God I have a car because that gives me options, while I may be forced to go to ShopRite, the Watchung location won't be my number 1 choice. I have been to the Shoprite in Watchung a few times but will not be going back. The front end managers have horrible customer service. My weekly coupon for $5.00 off was faded due to water damage from the mail carrier and would not scan. The expiration date and amount were shown. The front end manager would not accept the coupon although it was issued by Shoprite. I was told if the coupon doesn't scan they can't accept it. The manager displayed no customer service and only frowned and lied directly to my face. Please find better staff. read more

What can I say about this ShopRite without becoming speechless. This ShopRites florist is a wonder, I've heard she was imported from France due to her services....it shows! With unlimited asks, she delivers time and time again, petunias?...no problem! And the deli counter, don't get me started. Singing as they slice, everything is sliced to perfection, they are able to slice cheese to the perfect 1/3" time and time again. Wonderful people, better service! read more

I am very upset with what happened to my car when I went food shopping at ShopRite, blue store Watchung New Jersey. I finish shopping packed the car went home unloaded the groceries. Then I decided on cleaning the car in my garage like I always do. Then as I worked my way towards the back of the car I noticed that my bumper is completely destroyed. And I know it was fine before I went to ShopRite because I took a blanket out to wash. I then called ShopRite to let them know that my car was hit by something or someone. So I asked him if they have cameras to see who it was that destroyed my bumper on my car. They said they don't have a camera. And it seems it was a hit-and-run. Well this does not sit well with me. I feel that all shopping stores should have cameras so that a person who is responsible for any such damage should be responsible to pay for the damages. So now I have to call my car insurance to get the bumper fixed because it looks horrible. Especially now when it rains it may fill up with water and be heavy and fall off. I don't know. Plus it's going to cost me $500 that I don't have right now and I'll have to charge. So I am very upset about all this. Now my Christmas is ruined. But if ShopRite would've had cameras it could've detected who did the damage to my car and be rightfully responsible to pay for it. I'm sure this is happened to many other people and this needs to stop. And I'm sure the CEO of the ShopRite stores can afford to put cameras into the parking lots so when cars are hit and damaged, The person that did the damage should be responsible pay for it. read more

Yeah, time for a revamp. I'll even throw in an extra star for this one, even though I wish I could rate this 2.5 stars, but 3 is too generous. An anchor of the Blue Star Shopping Center, this supermarket has been around for a long time, even longer before I was born! This store contains aisles of general groceries and some household items. There are also sections of frozen foods, dairy products, chilled juice and drink cocktails (non-alcoholic), and a shelve for bread loaves. There's also an area for soda bottles too. Just like the other Shop Rites, there's also a bakery, produce area, a seafood section, a deli, and a small florist. A poultry area is there too for those who wanted to grab packaged meat. So why am I giving an extra star? Believe it or not, I've never had an issue with messy shelves and racks. They were all very organized when I ventured through to grab what I needed. Also, there were times when I didn't have an issue with customer service. Some were nice and patient, but unfortunately that didn't happen every single time I came here. Of course we can't forget about the competitive pricing. As with any Shop Rite, the prices are competitive, and the lowest price depended on what you tried to get. If this store had the item you were looking for, and it's lower than what other supermarkets were asking, then it's worth it. Hey, you can never say no to a lower price. This is an old store with interior decorations that show signs of aging. They don't have a pharmacy department, and they don't even have self-check-out areas. Also, considering how small this store is, don't expect to have every single little item advertised in stock. If you're looking for something in general, then they may have it. If you're looking for something for specific, then they may not have it, in which you'll have to go to a bigger Shop Rite. There were some items that I wanted, but this location didn't carry it, but another location did. I found that to be annoying at times. Most of the time I came here, customer service wasn't the best. Some of the employees possessed negative attitudes and acted like as if they didn't want to assist you. They'll even tell you in a harsh tone when a coupon doesn't match the item of interest. Yeah, that's really rude. I come here due to the close proximity from my area, and usually don't walk out empty handed from this store. But overall, this store is in need of improvements as it isn't as good as the other modern, non World Class Shop Rites in the general area. It's disorganized and the place looks as though it hasn't been updated in a long time...everything seems old...even the check out area. I mean come on, who doesn't have self checkout anymore. This is my primary supermarket. You have to make sure to check out the circular see what the weekly specials are of course there are also specials in the store that are not advertised in the circulars so look out for that. I've never had an issue finding what I needed here. If you are gluten-free you might have a hard time here as they don't have a large selection it seems as if they're starting to expand upon it but as of now it's still a slim selection of products. The stores usually organized every so often you going to their restocking things and putting things back on the shelves but that's not a typical occurrence. As I said before I'm here every week and Ive never had an issue my coupons are usually observed I'm getting the best deals and I'm saving money over other ShopRite in the area. This is one of the worse ShopRites in NJ. I am disappointed every time I come into the store. Unfortunately, this is the closes one to my home and I love Shoprite since I was a kid. I now try to go to Garwood which is so much nicer. I can never find anything here at the Watchung Shoprite, the meat section always has old meat and they do not check the dates. I purchased hardshell tacos last week, and the date on the box was 12/2021. ALWAYS check your dates on everything, because they do not care. The fruits and vegetables are always rotten. The prices are going up and we are receiving subpar customer service and horrible products. This store needs an entire overhaul. Who is managing this place, too much joking and playing, and you can never find anyone to assist you. I hope there are plans to change the store for the better. Village Supermarket owns 30 Shoprite stores and this is by far the worst I've ever seen. Why haven't you renovated Watchung the way you have Garwood, Union, and Elizabeth are all excellent. A run-down old store that needs modernizing. Prices can be good, if you do your homework, but they are often out of stock on items. The don't have a pharmacy, nor do they have self-checkout lines. Staff can sometimes be inattentive or not helpful. The crowd can be a little rough in here, but I've never felt threatened. This store needs some work. ShopRite of Watchung is very outdated and old. The staff often slacks off. I once Even heard them complaining about when they will end their shifts, and how long their hours were, while they were at the register! That was just the first aisle. The employees were rude, the man at the deli counter was obviously annoyed that he had to take care of me.
