Since the new ownership to Saker the store had consistently decreased in quality and value. Quality of produce is terrible. Several times I have had to return produce that is within date, because it started to rot within a day of getting it home. Meat quality as gone down too. I've purchased meat that was rancid when opened and also purchased (and returned) meat that I realized was out of date when I bought it. It's the job of the store to keep items in fresh rotation. The woman at customer service told me she no longer buys anything other than packaged goods at the store - and she works there! It's worth the drive to Wegmans for produce. Sadly, nothing will change. These reviews are falling on def ears. read more

The worst deli department in the world! Apparently they fired all the good people and kept the incompetent.... when the people behind the counter or more in tuned with talking about the store, gossip and their personal lives and taking care of the customers, there's a huge problem... Stood there for 20 minutes while two of them were bickering and one other old man was trying to serve the rest absolutely ridiculous... The owners should be ashamed of themselves.. They changed the entire store around so now the elderly cannot find a thing. How is that good business. The customers are always first. I'll start with the Deli. Terrible service, cold cuts are NEVER cut as you ask. Thin means thin. They DO NOT LISTEN! Maybe if they would listen more instead of talking they would get the order right. The produce never looks appetizing. Store looks messy all the time. Bakery is ok Flower Dept. Ok Check outs ok. I think the store needs some work. The Howell store is 100% better. It's truly a shame we live in Jackson and have to go out of our way to another store that by far better. But I will do that from now on. Its worth the drive. read more

I've been shopping at the Jackson ShopRite for over 12 years. Never once was I disappointed and so upset with their produce. The bowl and basket items in produce have been less than acceptable. A typically clogged and confusing New Jersey ShopRite where 60 inch flatscreens and wilted red leaf lettuce compete for limited space and attention. The back-end is a pallet jungle featuring skyscrapers of cola, stewed tomatoes and angel hair pasta making the space largely unnavigable. Adding insult, the front-end is a deranged hedgerow of sheets, beach balls and pressure cookers forcing me to run the gauntlet when all I want to do is pay. Three stars for an excellent selection of prepared foods, strong supply chains during the pandemic and the usual demerits for uniformly lousy produce and severe pricing on center aisle staples. ShopRite is everywhere in New Jersey and like an infestation of bad tattoos at the shore, impossible to avoid - even though I'd love to. read more

Came from North Jersey to Jackson 14 years ago, I am located in the middle of several ShopRites, 30 minutes to all, Manchester, East Windsor, Market Place, Howell, Freehold, and Jackson. I tend to stop at Freehold often as it is closer through my commute, very nice smaller store, as I've shopped all these ShopRite's, my favorite is the Marketplace ShopRite, Hamilton. It seems to be the cleanest and best stocked of all the ShopRite's, the management runs it very well. All others seem to be the same, expect no more, but definitely expect no less, all run very well. My least favorite store, now under New Ownership, is the Jackson store, we begin using Shop At Home during the pandemic, it worked very well! But under previous management! Now using Shop At Home is problematic, as week after week many of the advertised products, again "MANY" are claimed to be "Not Available", though advertised in the circulars, most commonly replaced & Up-Sold with more pricey products. Of course, we received phone calls first, lol. Many times I've gone into store at time of Pick-Up, only to find the advertised circular products myself. There can be no excuse except for Poor Management. Employees only do what is requested of them, very few do more than that. Of course without proper incentive, how can people take pride in their work. Management needs to acknowledge these problems respond to reviews and make Proper Corrections. I firmly believe in supporting the local establishments and keep business in town, for over 2years now I can almost not justify that. Under the previous ownership, Department Managers worked diligently to correct and satisfy clients. It seems now there's an apathetic tone. Being in business management for many years and running a two location small business for over 30 years. It seems these gaps should be simple to plug. I can no longer shop here after 33 years !!!!! My family is vegan / vegetarians.The produce department is dirty, old produce, melted, melded and not rotated. I had the displeasure of introducing my concerns to the produce manager today(2/16 at 2:00pm). He proceeded to overtalk me, then told me the discolored brownish-green , soft, wilted, broccoli pile was actually purple broccoli. No, it was rotten!!!! I Why does Shop Rite in Howell and Freehold have such nice produce ???? I finally left the store, couldn't even buy lemons, The store has been on a downward spiral since the summer. read more

All you hear at this Shoprite over loud speaker is how they're hiring. Well from what I've heard some some employees is that they slashed their hours to nothing. And right before the holidays. Massive place but I think that is typical for the suburbs. They have everything you need in here but need a map to know where to find things. The produce section is usually pretty clean and they do a nice job at the deli counter as well. There sometimes is a line but it moves quick. The bakery section also has a bunch of cakes/pastries that I usually get as well. The croissants and chocolate chip cookies are my jam. ShopRite does it right! read more

I have been shopping in the Jackson Shop Rite for 15 years and NEVER had an issue! Now I do. The fish manager, who has been there since November, has a HUGE attitude problem AND POOR CUSTOMER INTERACTION. I requested a piece of cod - 1/2 - 3/4 of a pound. He began to VERY loudly lecture me (in front of other customers waiting to be served) about how he couldn't trim a piece - I had to buy the entire piece - which was huge! I explained that for as long as I have been purchasing fish there other managers have been VERY ACCOMMODATING. When I get my fish for free, I would have to accept what I am given - when I'm paying, I should get what I expect and want. He said you only want the thick part, right? I said yes, that's what I usually buy. He than asked what should do with the part he trimmed off. I told him to bring it home to his wife, when I was really tempted to tell him what he should do with it !!! His lecture continued and he cut me a piece. After I completed me shopping and paid I went to the courtesy counter and asked for the manager. Mr. Ackerman totally agreed that the fish manager SHOULD READILY AGREE TO GIVE ME WHAT I WANTED. I asked if I could accompany him back to the fish department while he spoke to the manager. The fish manager responded "I gave her what she wanted" (but failed to say that he told me it was the last time he would give me what I requested! Mr. Ackerman alluded to the fact that he has had a problem with this fish manager before. The Shop Rite on Rt. 9 is a little bit further to shop in, but I have dealt with their fish manager previously and he was more than happy to accommodate me! This will be my last venture to the Jackson store. If there have been prior issues with this manager, why is he allowed to remain in this position and ABUSE CSTOMERS? read more

Grabbed it, realized it when I was putting it into my car and went directly back to customer service. Nasty worker there said no returns no matter what. Said it was the store's fault, said too bad. Every time I go in to shop it gets worse and worse. The cashiers are unfriendly and lazy. They should let us scan our own items since we have to bag ourselves anyway. Don't let this place fool you, it is DISGUSTING! There's regularly mold in the refrigerated yogurt and poultry cases. The employees are either blind or can't be bothered to clean. The produce is usually covered in fruit flies, and many times is rotten. I find the cold cuts to be slimy and inedible. If you shop here often enough, you'll find TONS of expired food. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere if you can. read more

I purchased Cape Gourmet large shrimp. A 2 pound bag, frozen that was on sale for $9.98 on 11/21.on 11/22 I got the next week circulars. The Cape Gourmet large cleaned and deveined shrimp, 2 pound bag was on sale only two days. 11/29 & 30. I returned the shrimp that was not cleaned and deveined $9.98 and will go on 11/29 to buy the cleaned and deveined shrimp on sale $8.98. read more

If you close at 11pm you shouldn't start blocking all the isles with stocking pallets at 9pm. I couldn't get to some of the items I needed. The cashier was useless. I have a shoprite savings card but since I live in another state that doesn't have shoprite I haven't used it in over a year. They deactivated my card and the cashier said I couldn't sign up for a card because I live out of state. Sounds like B.S but I really wasn't in the mood to argue. The lady behind me offered to use her card but the cashier said it wasn't allowed. The cashier was a snarky a-hole. Flustered, I typed my pin incorrectly. He laughed and said DECLINED! My wife asked for Jarlsburg at the deli counter and they gave her a cheaper brand and charged her for Jarlsburg. This has happened twice. Jarlsburg has huge holes and the one they gave her had small ones. The first time there was a snow storm on the way so no sense in going back, but the second time we knew it was some type of scam. The older man in the deli department (with glasses from 1983 )is the one and she mentioned it the second time and he didn't have an answer. His attitude stinks too and it's not our problem you chose to work in a supermarket. Just be careful. Without Pathmark they think they can do this because they are the only store around. I've reduced my 5 starts to 1 start because during the CoronaVirus pandemic they (1) didn't limit the number of customers in the store, (2) didn't wipe the touch monitors in the self checkout area, (3) didn't provide their employees with face masks so they wouldn't be breathing on us customers, (4) unlike the nearby walmart, didn't dedicate at least 1 hour per week solely to senior citizen customers. Health is more important than profits but, even during the pandemic, this SR has shown that profits is more important to them than the health and safety of their customers and employees. I stopped buying my prescriptions at their pharmacy too. Losers! Needless to say, I stopped going to SR and now go to Walmart where they (1) limit the number of customers in the store, (2), disinfect common surfaces several times every hour (3) provide gloves and face masks to their employees, and (4) dedicate Tuesdays 6-7AM to senior shoppers only. read more

As far as Shop Rites go this one is very underwhelming. They do not cater to their clientele, as the majority of the local population has migrated from The Land known as Staten Island one would think that they would have a much larger selection of Italian products and a larger selection of ethnic food. In comparison to the Lakewood Shop Rite the Jackson location pails by comparison with meats, seafood, ethnic food selections and specialty items. I do have to say that the Jackson Bakery is the best "food store" bakery that I have tried. Cakes, muffins and breads have always been top notch! read more

We used to shop at the Freehold Shop Rite until we discovered the Jackson one. We are able to use the kiosk to place our deli and sandwich orders and we can go shop without have to stand in line. We find that this store is very clean and the staff is friendly. The shop rite in Freehold is cramped, the staff is rude, the management is even worse. We are able to do our shopping wothout rude people cutting us off with cart. Jackson shop rite is mich larger amd cam accommodate a larger number of customers. Each time, we have been happy with the customer service. We have never had a problem. In my opinion, we love this store which is whu we travel oit of our way to shop there instead of Freehold which is right around the corner. read more

They are price gouging water you can buy 3 cases of 24 count bottled water for $10 but only 1 gallon of 89cent water meanwhile they have full shelves and extra racks of 1.39 gallon water again only 1 allowed however 10 bucks you can get 3 cases I truly hope the state investigates and if they are doing exactly that price gouging they face stiff fines avoid any store that choices to operate this way during a time of need SHAME ON YOU SHOPRITE read more

While they don't have a big selection compared to the Super Shoprite in Howell they have enough options. Their Cold Cut Counter is excellent while the fish department is small and limited. Bakery is just ok not a big selection. It's an old store with very short checkout lanes which are loaded with racks making it hard to get around the isles. Meat department is small and limited in quantities. But overall I give it a B+ very friendly staff, good produce selection also. The quarter to get a shopping cart is a real PIA even Walmart doesn't use coin carts anymore time for this store to drop the coin carts. read more

I LOVE any Shoprite... prices are reasonable, food is fresh, staff is usually wonderful, and the variety of items to choose from is amazing! The new delivery service and pick up service is also amazing...since there are no impulse items it actually saves me so much time and money with no headaches...during the holiday season this new service is worth its weight in GOLD!!! Paula the shop at home manger is the best manager in the history of managers and has the most wonderful personality it is absolutely a pleasure to work with her! Customer service at this particular store is second to none, they are adept, friendly and have lots of registers making checkout reasonably quick. The seafood and meat depts are spectacular and the store is always immaculate with a great layout. The only drawback is that I wish they had something to entertain the kids like they do at Wegmans since it extremely difficult to shop with kids :-( We used to be able to purchase hot dogs, chips and a drink at the quick service counter to entertain them while we shopped, but they no longer offer these food items :-( read more

ShoRite of Jackson should rename itself to ShopWRONG. This grocery store is the most under stocked and disorganized grocery store i have ever been to. They are constantly sold out of everything from bananas to meat. Theproduce selection is sub par at best and they are constantly missing things. They make sure to stock up on the essentials like premade, frozen, and packaged food. Do NOT shop here if you are looking to cook anything outside of a microwave. Everytime I shop for fresh groceries at this Shoprite in Jackson I am constantly disappointed. Yesterday I bought "fresh" wild caught salmon and opened it this morning to find a stench that made my stomach sick. This is not the first time either. It's happened with produce as well. We will not shop in this store anymore. It's a hassle getting into it, you need quarters to get a shopping cart. I have found mold in the yogurt and they have expired products the dairy case. They never carry all the products on my shopping list and I always have to go to a second store to find what I need. The bakery is terrible. When I tried to purchase butter croissants I was told that they do not use butter in the dough. So now I shop only in the Freehold ShopRite where they have a better selection of foods and the workers are much more polite and helpful. read more

I only shop here when I have to, or if there's a decent sale. For some reason, produce bought here always spoils too fast, so I avoid their produce. Same for milk, which is priced too high anyhow. They do have some decent sales now and then, so if you stick to the sales you're OK. The store itself is modern and clean, but I think some of the employees could use a refresher course in "being friendly". read more

They have the best prices. Just don't always have sale items in stock if you aren't there first thing Sunday morning. BUT they give rain checks so you can get the item at the sale price within 60 days. They have yummy soups and a great bakery.
