I always try and work with local jewelers as they are often rooted in the community which gives support back to that community. With that being said, the biggest concern that I would warn people in the Wisconsin Rapids area is that Paul Gross, in specific Robin, has a very entitled opinion and frankly can be very standoffish. I brought a loose diamond in to have set - when asked if they could set this the first request was what type of setting do I want to have.... this is typical and expected. I chose a couple different settings and when I asked about price I was amazed at what I heard. Now, I know the lights have to get paid, but for a simple setting with less that 60 ct. pts, I would not expect platinum to come in at over 2800 USD. Taken back a bit, I explained I may use my own setting and have their gold smith set it for me. Needless to say, I left the store with a very unsure answer and frankly I felt like as soon as I just asked for the stone to be set no one else in the store wanted toe help me. I know 200 USD isn't the typical 5k plus they want for sales, but remember this is a small community and a sale is a sale. I called back about three days later and asked if they would be willing to set the stone. The owner gave me a blunt answer of "NO." I then asked where else in town I could get this set, after a lengthy explanation of why she didn't know I said thank you and good bye. In short this business is garbage: 1. No customer support 2. Not willing to give you the time of day if you won't drop a serious dollar 3. Rude 5. Over bearing 6. Lies I would never go to a jeweler I do not trust... and I DO NOT TRUST THESE FOLKS.

They did a good job....still have ten fingers and toes!). They have even upped their game. They have a complete gun shop too! The day before going, I found a 10% off coupon for Wolosek's that says not valid for offers or services. I dropped off the check and the coupon to which the employee said I could use it on materials and not delivery. I said I understood. After leaving, I received a phone message from Wolosek's, who said I couldn't use the coupon as the delivery was a service and it was for customer pick up only. There was nothing said about pick up only on the coupon. I canceled the order. The discount would have been about $100. So they lose out on $1500 of business for being petty. I should have been able to use the coupon because field stone is not a service. Do not use this company as they use false advertisements and unfair business practices.

Schalow's was both disappointing and interesting. There's nothing wrong with that, but it was just disappointing for me. Maybe it was the time of year. Schalow's was interesting in that the selection of outdoor plants was huge. They even had some of the sculpted topiary bushes shaped like animals. Although cute, those topiaries looked like they'd be a lot of work to maintain. I did see some cute outdoor birdbaths and statues to complete the outdoor garden and there was a nice indoor area to pickup smaller items and ask for help from the staff. We were left alone to wander around the grounds, but periodically the employees would ask if we needed help. I like that they weren't pushy.

The kids were excited to see all of the cool outdoor decor and the workers were really kind to them. I think I was more on edge than the workers about the kids getting overly excited. There's a lot of cool indoor and outdoor decor here. This would be a really great place to go for a unique gift. I forgot my wallet at the hotel and needed to be somewhere and the workers were kind enough to hold onto my items for several hours for me. We will definitely stop back again next year when we are in the area again.
