Great hardware store where the employees are friendly, knowledgeable and will take the time to educate without being condescending (newbie and chainsaws......what to do.....not to do....and basic maintenance. They did a good job....still have ten fingers and toes!). They have even upped their game. They have a complete gun shop too! For the sportsman they have hunting and fishing gear, archery supplies and an assortment of crossbows to boot! These guys really know their stuff. (well..the older guys...most of the kids look baked out of their mind) Find the guy who looks like Jamie Hyneman. I was at this Ace Hardware this weekend and very disappointed to see all but one employee without a mask. I realize that the mask mandate has been lifted but the coronavirus is not eradicated from Wisconsin and the numbers are rising again. You would think as a business they would do everything they can to protect their employees and the public. So it makes you wonder if they clean the way they should be cleaning during this pandemic.Luckily most of the shoppers had masks on. Other businesses in WI Rapids still required or requested people wear masks, so those will be the ones that I will frequent. The staff was very helpful and friendly, it is just too bad they can't recognize what the right thing to do is! read more

When I was growing up I would always go to our local ACE store. I'm in the process of moving and have been to this location a few times. The employees are friendly and the store is clean. Though, with the amount of competition and options, a bad experience just motivates me to go to a different store. I had 3 keys made at the ACE near my old apartment in Illinois for my new place in Wisconsin. When I tested my keys, 2 of the 3 worked. So I went to my new local ACE with the keys and receipt to have them recut the key. I was informed that I would have to pay again. I find this bizarre and not a good practice. I have had this same scenario happen at Home Depot (two different locations) and they gave me no trouble (nor did they charge me). I could understand if I wanted a new key but I just wanted to have it recut (which would only cost their store a little of their time). Luckily I will be going back to my place in Illinois one last time in a week. I will have them recut the key at my old location. After this, I will be going to Home Depot and Walmart for my future needs. EDIT: Manager contacted me and informed me this was not their store policy. He offered an apology and to recut the key free of charge. read more

I love the Ace Hardware store in Wisconsin Rapids because they usually have in stock what I am looking for. When I tried to find similar items at other stores, I am told the item is available online and often that includes shipping charges. Plus it is so wonderful to actually have people readily available to answer questions and to help locate an item. If I pay a bit more for something (I have not really compared) that is fine because my savings in frustration and actually going home with the item is well worth every penny. read more

Never been here, I just want to people that look at my reviews to think I'm well traveled. I've been to other ACE hardware stores though, I'll bet this one is the same. Although they are franchised..and the one I worked for had a jerk owner. As long as this one isn't owned by the same guy I worked for, it's fine by me. read more
