I genuinely do not understand some of the negative reviews here about the range being "too hot" or the staff being rude. That has been the complete opposite of our experience. First, a huge shoutout to the range officers. They made it possible for me to safely teach my 11-year-old son how to shoot in a controlled, professional environment. Safety was clearly the priority, but they also created an atmosphere that was welcoming and supportive instead of intimidating. As a dad trying to introduce his son to shooting the right way, that mattered a lot. I also want to specifically recognize John, who helped me, my wife, and my son become members. The guy was incredible. He gave us an unbelievable amount of time and attention, answered every question we had, and was genuinely kind, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. Never rushed us, never upsold us, just focused on helping us make good decisions. He even threw in a rental "on the house" because he knew we were in the market to buy that day, which let us get hands-on experience before making a decision. That level of customer service is rare. Another huge shoutout to Joe, who was AWESOME on the phone before we even came in. I asked a ridiculous number of questions (seriously, a lot), and he answered every one without ever sounding annoyed or rushed. Just incredibly helpful and professional. And lastly, Ryan absolutely crushed it helping with our trade. He gave us a very fair price on our trade-in and worked with us to get an even better deal on the two Glocks we ended up buying. Honest, straightforward, and easy to work with. All around, this place has earned an A+ from our family. Are they a little pricier than some other shops? Sure. But customer service, professionalism, a solid range experience, and nine locations don't happen by accident. There's a reason they've been successful. Highly recommend. read more

They have always been helpful, knowledgeable and kind to me. Shooting Range keep clean. Decent prices on weapons, yet it's been years since I purchased a rifle. It was a S&W AR-15. Good price. My Mom's pistol wouldn't move. The upper was jammed up. They took it to the back. In a couple minutes came back. They had freed it up lubed it and handed it to me with a smile and a handshake. Good guys and gals. read more

huge selection, knowledgable staff. good shooting range. decent prices. well staffed. i have always been treated well there (sarasota)

Rude customer service. Most of their counter help either ignores you or talks down to you.

Shoot Straight Inc inaccurately described the firearm they had listed on gunbroker. I contacted them simply to let them know, as I was still overall happy with the purchase. They proceeded to leave me a negative buyer review (which they are free to do, however every other one of my buyer reviews is glowing). Oh, and I should add: I contacted the manufacture- the thread was NOT stock :) read more

Shoot Straight - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

I saw a review complaining about the temperature in the range. If you do not adjust the duct to blow on ypu while shooting it is warm. Why? Because the fresh air intake blows from the wall along the front and brings in fresh air to keep the lead dust down you would be inhaling without it. it is a safety and health issue and is required by law. If you do not like that then go someplace else and suck up that lead! read more

Never an issue. I've been shooting and buying there for a couple of years, and never had any issues. Everyone is always professional, helpful and knowledgeable. I especially appreciate John and his knowledge and expertise. Love this place. read more

This is one of the newer/more up to date ranges in Sarasota. Lots of parking available and a good selection of handguns and other items. Prices are slightly on the higher end than some other places that I've been to. To shoot at the range there are a number of options. The best deal is to sign up for recurring membership - that's $25 per month and that allows you to shoot at the range without any other costs or fees. So if you shoot a couple of times a week it's a very good deal. Non-recurring membership is $40 per month. You are required to sign a health and safety type statement but did not experience anything too onerous. They have a safety officer to hand, but given that this was the same person who had to ring up the long line of people I am not sure how he was able to do any of the safety tasks. It was very busy on the Saturday I went and they are understaffed so expect long lines at times. During the week it's a little quieter. read more

Shoot Straight - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Sarasota, Florida

Haven't purchased a gun there, from the reviews I wouldn't. However I have been to range twice and they must intentionally keep the range about 90 degrees, even with the individual AC vents at each stall. I won't shoot there anymore until they can keep the range at an acceptable temperate. read more

Chris and Daniel were super helpful and made my purchasing experience fast and easy. Great selection and nice range.

Bought a new gun from them brought it home would not fire brought it back to them they asked if I bought the warranty I said no well there is nothing we can do I said I bought it is brand new and it won't shoot they said we can send it to a gunsmith and I will have to pay that is when I walk out took it to a gunsmith I trust and he fixed it told me there was no firing pin in the gun don't go to Shoot straight. read more

To be avoided. This place has great gun selection, but at premium premium prices. The range is decent but it is a local yokle place where obnoxious shooters are allowed to come and be a nuisance. Managamnet could care less, and if you're from out of town they care even less. Just a bad and dangerous place to shoot as they let shooters do whatever they want. Staff attitude is truly poor. Go to Take Aim instead. read more

Customer service is not the greatest. Unless your buying a firearm directly from shoot straight. Had a few transfers go through this store and every time it take them about 2-3 days just to inform me that my firearm arrived. 35.00 for a transfer seem a bit high but I recently moved to Sarasota from Michigan so 35.00 may be common here. My Wife also brought a firearm from shoot straight that was overpriced. On a positive note, I would definitely recommend purchasing any CZ firearms from this location. They're deals are unmatched... at least for the older model firearms. They're the only big box office gun store in Sarasota I've found so they of course have pretty deals here and there. In conclusion, good store too check out for good deals, hard to find modern firearms(no deal on those, up charge if anything), and probably have a great network of manufacturers so you could order the exact firearm you want. Avoid transfers and range membership. read more

Called to ask FFL info because I couldn't find their info on GunBroker after I won a bid, the sales rep was rude and unhelpful. I'm a customer of the Clearwater store for many years, got relocated to Sarasota and what a difference in customer service. When I called the store in Clearwater years ago, for the same issue, they gave me a solution right away. Disappointed and will take my business somewhere else. read more

Very helpful and friendly staff, nice indoor range. It was nice to look at some firearms without pressure to buy. Ammo prices are not cheap for target loads, but they are not the worst I have seen either. There might be a wait to get into the firing range, but it is worth the wait. The range is clean as is the store. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday with my wife and cousin to try out 4-5 pistols before we bought one. There was already a line of people waiting when it opened at 10am. There are some rules and procedures to follow but nothing too drastic. Devon was extremely pleasant and helpful and could not have been any cooler. He made the ladies feel at ease through the entire process. The rental fees are reasonable and the number and type of rental guns quite varied. We wanted to see the .380 pistols and there were about 6 available. There were more than enough lanes--at least 6 in just our area. We never felt crowded or rushed and the prices were extremely competitive. The Glock 42 was on sale and it looks like we'll be buying one of those...to start. Highly recommended. read more

Very young staff that may or may not know what they are speaking about. There firearm prices are higher than most shops in the area. They are quick to try and upsell customers that are first time firearm owners. Their RSOs are a bit extreme, as they enjoy attempting to bully shooters for no apparent reason. They have a very nice facility; however, it's a shame they conduct business in this manner. read more

Warning read all the reviews before buying from this place! Don't be fooled by the nice facility! Incompetent dishonest place and employees! I purchase a Glock 19X on 1/17/2021 I'm on a 30 day Waite I've got something called a que number and when I call they say it's pending! After 2 months ... to long! I wanted either my gun or money back! Which they said I would get if any problem! Now after this time they say I'm canceling the gun! No they can't deliver ! So they say I'm untitled to 75% ! They are charging 25% for nothing! Do not be fooled! read more

Very happy with the range here & the store overall. Staff was friendly & helpful. We (1 male, 1 female) went in at what I would have considered prime time on Sunday afternoon. The large parking lot was about 1/2 full. We were going to practice at the range, but also wanted to shop, & assumed we would have to shop while waiting for an open range. Pleasantly Surprised that there was no wait. Taking a quick look around inside, they have a nice stock of guns & ammo for sale, along with all kinds of other supplies, including safes. They also have taxidermy mounts everywhere. The store is one big open room that is brightly lit & welcoming. We checked in with the Range Master, & happily found out that there were lanes available to us. They have 7 handgun ranges, & other/more rifle ranges, but I forgot how many of those as we only took pistols to practice with. The store & the range is air conditioned. Put it this way, we enjoyed our visit so much that we purchased a Family 1 year membership. You do not have to purchase a membership to shoot, or shop, but if you are going to practice on a regular basis, that would be the way to go. They have basic firearms classes & offer Concealed Weapon License Course too. Good environment to learn and/or practice. read more

First time gun buyer, went in 7-2 store wasn't crowded, staff was talking amongst themselves. If I asked a questions they seemed put out and only gave short one word answers. Really no interest in helping out or giving me some suggestions. Super disappointed. Nice shop REALLY BAD NONEXISTENT customer service. Went to another place, Bullseye in Palmetto. Staff there couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. Was happy to pay a few extra bucks to be treated like my business was appreciated read more

This place is a service nightmare. Did an ffl transfer to this store and stood in line 2hours and then 1.5 hours waiting for staff to assist me. This is while there were maybe 10 customers total in the place. Staffing is a joke. Worst service experience I've ever had in my life at any type of business. So incredibly irritated and done with this company. Hope you fold up and go bankrupt. If I could give negative 1 billion stars I would read more

Wesley and the team at Shoot Straight were very professional and helpful. Answered all questions and were very polite. No egos or condescending words. We were somewhat hesitant to go given some of the "lukewarm" reviews but we very pleased with how we were treated and the range was very nice and well managed. read more

Tuesday, there were 2-3 associates for every customer it seemed. Went in on Saturday to pick up my order and it took about an hour and a half while the only guy who could get my order was juggling Range Officer roles and selling and advising customers. The shooting range was PACKED, with only 2-3 Range Officers behind the counter with dozens of people lined up and shooting or waiting to shoot. Seems like the weekend would be best positioned to have a bigger staff than a weekday? Overall, super knowledgeable people but the weekend experience discouraged us from waiting to fire the new weapon. Will try again during the week sometime. read more

This is my go to Firearms dealer and range. It's a new store, the selection is amazing and the staff is very keen to help you. If you're doing an Internet purchase, they handle that as if you bought the weapon in their store. Their ammo prices aren't the greatest but not the worst. In that regard, they aren't competing. Took classes for tactical carbine and tactical shotgun. Now I'm tight and cannot wait to compete again. Will accommodate Class 3 select fire/auto weapons. Now, why are you reading this when you should be there! read more

Seriously don't understand what the negative reviews are all about? Seems like its all 5s or 1s? I vote AWESOME!! Treated my children to several Shoot Straight Range sessions. Heading there again this weekend with my son! And nothing but good FUN! Got to know several of the staff on my visits. Loved browsing the huge in store collections! And cool taxidermy? And the whole covid mask thing? I actually never entered the front door early on when i saw staff all masked up? Manatee County Sheriff had at that time recently refused to enforce this mass hysteria? And then ultimately? Our very COOL Governor revoked ALL the local mask/lockup mandates!! [just days after the CDC came out with their report concerning all those deaths they've been telling us all about?]. Our Gov obviously read the 'science'? CDC walks back and says study of actual 'death rate'? Shows less than 6% of reported fatalities DIDN'T have at LEAST TWO OTHER causes of mortality? Some portion Three! 'Covid obviously penciled in for the extra $25grand the govt was handing out for each certificate with 'covid' add-on!? 'Huh? Yea. Look it up? A couple of weeks later? CDC then releases study showing ZERO overall death rates total! So? Please tell me WHERE the Pandemic is? IF there's ZERO overall "death" increase from years past? There isn't one? I simply refuse to go where a mask is mandatory and overburden my already labored lungs! AWESOME we're all shooting MASKLESS! [Oh God the horror and disease... NOT!!]. Thanks for being there Shoot Straight! And Shooting Straight with the REAL facts! read more

Wow! This was my first visit to the University location. Outstanding selection of firearms and accessories. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful, which is important to me because I'm not LEO or MIL. I'm just a firearms enthusiast that appreciates some friendly guidance, without the high-pressure pitch, and I got just what I needed at Shoot Straight. The range is orderly, bright, and clean. The staff keeps a close watch. I felt really safe while I went through a few hundred rounds. I'll definitely be back, and I'm bringing my wife and my friends. I'm so glad this place opened up so close to home. Keep up the good work, guys! read more

What a disappointment! After spending a fair amount of money over the years at this establishment, I can't even get a manager to talk to me when I was in the store! I asked an employee, Austin, about their process of buying used weapons. I have a collection that I am trying to sell because the state I'm moving to is too restrictive. I asked Austin how the process works and he said a manager is the one that does it. Even though I didn't have the weapons with me, I asked to speak with the manager so I could discuss the process and also inquire about purchasing a new safe for the move. Austin called the manager, whom I could see sitting at his desk twiddling his thumbs, and then told me the manager wasn't available to talk to me. The only reason he wouldn't talk to me is because I didn't have the weapons on hand. It also didn't help that Austin told him not to waste his time talking with me. It just takes one employee making a bad decision by not even asking appropriate questions to make a customer become turned off from ever doing business there again! read more
