Not so great anymore. Prices are marked up at the store, but online shows the true price, usually. Do your research. Online prices could be more than one hundred dollars off the store price. For new gun buyers, if they don't know the difference, you will get ripped off. Won't find this type of munipulation at Sports Academy. Go there instead. They are friendly too. They have one of the best selections of firearms in the Orlando area, but do not try to get any assistance while in the store, even if you want to buy something. Twice in the last week I've come in to dry and buy magazines, and after 40 minutes in the store still could not get anybody to hand me them from behind the counter. Their excuse is that there shortstaffed. However even the staff there getting too long conversations with a single client, when if they had good time management skills they could communicate with other clients also. Although I have been a steady clients and have purchased close to a dozen fire I'm here, the customer support inside the store has gotten so bad that I will probably buy from an online vendor now. read more

I'm a first time gun owner. I purchased a 9mm from Shoot Straight at the gun show. I went in to get some help and they were rude. I have never shot a gun before and need some assistance. I ended up leaving the store and got about 1/2 way home and called and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to someone who lied and said she was the manager . When i went back there I called her out on it. I feel not a very honest place. Really disappointed in their customer service. You can have great products, but if you lack customer service you really have no products to sell. read more

Was just here passing by on the way back to the airport after business meeting. We had time to kill so when we saw this place we did a quick u-turn. First time for me. Staff was great. Very professional. Interesting experience. Could barely hit the paper target. Not as easy as it looked in the police shows. Range was small and hot. Even with ear protection loud. But we had a blast. I just had the worst RIP OFF EXPERIENCE EVER in relations to purchasing a gun. In the last 48 hours I spent over $2000 dollars in purchasing 3 guns, 1000 rounds plus accessories(bags,clips,sites) and a family membership for the year. In particular I was looking for one good target pistol .22LR. While I was at the store I was informed by Zack since they were closing to conduct research on the S&W victory. I spent 4 hrs on research and discovered it was an amazing gun. So today I went to the Apopka location hoping I could find it there but they did not have it and it is not a guarantee they will have it on the next shipment nor do they do custom order. In the Apopka location i purchased a keltec 9mm carbine and decided to settle on a rutger 22/45mk3 .22 LR which had rail mounts which only the Casselberry location had. I then went back to the Casselberry location started the paper work on the rutger with Zack and gave him kudos on the info on the S&W victory and asked again if it was in stock or could be ordered he again said no custom order and could not guarantee it will come in next shipment. I purchased the rutger.22 and also purchased a glock 17. I stayed to shoot all the new toys at the range until closing. On my way out I thanked Zack and gave one last look around to see if there was any other toys I wanted to purchase when I discovered a BRAND NEW IN CASE S&W VICTORY. I immediately notified Zack and showed him what was in the case and he knew at the moment he messed up. He did not know his own inventory and I let him know that. He took the 2 guns and went to the back telling me" let me see how I'm going to fix this" leaving me to an assumption the gun were going to be exchanged. He comes back and informed me that he can give me $200 dollars for my brand new rutger and reduce the rate for the S&W. I told him I just purchased the gun and it was not my fault that you did not know your inventory. It was told to me 5 times that that gun was not there nor can they custom order it or guarantee it in the next shipment. By this time the manager Dustin walks over with a look as if I was giving Zack a hard time. He then asks if he can be of any help. Zack explains the major mess up (as if he didn't already know) and Dustin begins to tell me the policy that the gun is already considered used. I reminded him that that was not my fault as I specifically wanted to purchase the S&W in which both stores confirmed they did not have multiple times. He then attempt to negotiate on accessories but not on the guns I just purchased"keep in mind" the rutger brand new is 360. He wanted to buy my gun back at 200. To turn around it and sell it at 330. I then would have to pay an additional 150 to get the original gun I wanted to purchase. If you are following I would be out of an additional 300 dollars all because they did not know their stock. I said no but I was willing to take the hit with a 25% restocking fee which is about 80dollars meeting me half way. He said no referring back to the policy. At this moment I told him it was a rip off and at that moment Dustin became pissed took it personal and walked off aggravated and even gave me a condencding smirk. I felt at that moment I just got played in a 3 card Monty. I just spent thousands of dollars here and they just disregarded the whole situation basically leaving me to never ever want to go back. I will never purchase another weapon there and I am waiting to hear back from the District Manager Devin Lira. This is poor judgement from a manager who obviously had the power to do the right thing. I am sure this review will fall on deaf ears as well. To my fellow consumers Please do your do diligence on these gun dealers saving 30 to 40 bucks is not worth the lack of customer service and trust. I recently bought a S&W 9mm and am very pleased with it. However with the current shortage of ammo my $40.00 range membership is going to waste. I was told that no extentions or refunds will be forth coming. I understand that it is a supply problem but how good would you look if you extended our range membership. You took my money and I expect good old fashioned "CUSTOMER SERVICE". What a huge lack of integrity that shows. It's a simple concept. Take the money and render the service. HORRIBLE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE by the racist man behind the counter. Went there with 12 ppl and he would only give us 1 lane. we were visiting from LA and NYC. Initially offered 3 lanes by the nice girl at the counter. Her rude coworker told her to tell us(even tho we were right in front of him) ONLY 1 LANE. He said it was busy and we can only have 1 lane. THERE WERE 4 LANES OPEN with NO1 WAITING. A call was made right after the incident to question the ridiculousness of having 12 ppl on one lane in an indoor range; major safety concern. When we called they said it was $15 per person and max of 2-3 ppl per lane and each person would get a full hr. With 12 ppl im supposed to get 12 hrs of lane time, the place closes in 2 hours... read more

I took my pistol to them to have it fixed, dropped it off on 1-11-13, they said they would get done asap, finally on 2-7-13 I decided to go get my gun wether it was ready or not. When I went in and told them I was here to get my gun they brought it out finished, I asked why they didn`t call me to let me know it was ready, response was "uuhh you mean nobody called you" NO. not ot mention they have some rude salesmen there, one actually told me to tell my friend a "DICK" now you can`t get any ruder than that. i went in two weeks ago. The gentleman behind the counter looked like he had just fell outta bed. I can't convey the negative give a ( blank) tone in his voice. But the conversation went like this: Do you have Glock 9mm? NO. Do you know when they"ll be in? NO. An estimate? NO. Could you call Me when They arrive? NO we don't do that. Can I order on line and have it shipped here? We'll have to charge Fees. I've gotten better customer sevice at the DMV. When I was looking at differrent models prior to this I got a dfferent guy and the same give (blank) attitude. I eventually went to your Competior on OBT ( Can I say Riegs Gun Shop here). They were old school helpful and went outa their way to help me with my choices, purchase, and one on one training.Shoot Straight could could learn something from Riegs. Very outraged with what they did to me! It was partly my fault I should of checked with family and friends who told me after the fact they would of advised me to not go there that they are the biggest rip off. Which I learned the hard way shoot straight pretty much put a theoretical gun to me and said give me all your money. I purchased a kimber custom total 1100 out the door well something messed up in the background check process and I got a denial which I have fixed but regardless the fact I said ok just let me get my refund and I'll be on my way I wasn't in there 5 min they took gun out of cabinet to register that's it and charged me a restocking fee that costed me 300$! Not joking I have the receipt and everything. So if your reading up on them to decide if they are a good place to go to they most definitely are NOT!!! read more

Decent range, overpriced shop but had a huge inventory of firearms. 100% did not feel welcome here as a woman. None of the employees would make eye contact with me or speak to me, but they had no problem talking to the two men in my party. One of the sales people spent 20 minutes explaining to one of the guys in my group all the reasons one of the guns he was interested in sucked, and explained that he usually offers that gun to ladies because ladies have a hard time pulling back slides and firing weapons. Again, I did not feel welcome at the range one bit, and was talked down to by every employee there. Will not be returning. read more

Another reviewer used the phrase " too big for their britches" and that put it perfectly. I have a safe full of guns at home and am NOT new to shooting. I went into the Apopka location, corporate headquarters right!? To buy a springfield xds in a .40 cal. Britt L "helped" me buy the gun with one word answers and no eye contact. When I called back to the store to why that genuis told me to pick up my gun 6 days later instead of 3, the arrogant, disrespectful kid on the phone tells me, "well you can come by Thursday but we won't be open." Math might just be too much for you son because Thursday would still have been 5 days not 3. Devon the manager was the only guy on staff smart enough to deduce that I didn't know the law says business days not just 72 hours, and that's all anybody had to say. Devon was great, but he has GOT to make sure his employees are as good as him, because as of now I'll be looking for somewhere to spend thousands of dollars on guns, which I DO. You can shoot for free on their range on the day of purchase (or if you have the three day wait, on the day you pick up your pistol). The shop is clean and well organized and the staff is friendly. Great place to go shopping if you have the time. Waiting a very long time to get help but once Mike got free, he went out of his way to meet my needs. Seems associates work only certain areas for security reasons so hard to get help if in the wrong area. Went there to get a small auto to replace my revolver that I've carried since 1988. Hard to reload a revolver vs the Sig P938. After purchase I got to use the range for free + 2 free targets. Had to test fire before I carried. Would have given a 5 star if I didn't have to wait so long. Still worth the trip and inconvenience. read more

I have made a purchase with them through a firearms site. After the purchase was confirmed I received a phone call a couple days later to finish the transaction. I gave my CC info on the spot. I told him I'd be sending my FFL later that week. I filled out the form at my FFL so they can send it through. A month passed by, I didn't hear anything from anyone. So I was finally able to get into my emails. I saw the latest one, so I responded to it saying that I have sent the FFL a while back. I received an answer back saying that my item was re-listed after not hearing from me. They sent several messages but never a 2nd phone call. I asked why I was never called via telephone. I called the store and asked for the manager on duty, I explained what happened & he looked into it and took his co-worker's side saying since I left negative feedback on the site he told me to have a good day. The response to the feedback was ridiculous, stating that no one should do business with me and to block me as well because they did. The way the situation was handled was unprofessional. I hope the owner(s) can see this message and act on it in some way hopefully in a professional manner. Really reflects badly on the whole company. read more

Worst shopping experience ever. Shoot straight sends me a used/defective item, ignores my emails and only responded once Amazon was contacted. Once I opened an A-Z claim the company promptly responds begging me to send it back. I do so ASAP and this is the message I received: "Please in the future never order anything from my company again. You have been the worst customer experience in my companies history dealing with Amazon. I will cancel any order you try and place as long as we have an account with Amazon. Your package came in yesterday at 3pm and we have to process over 500 packages. We aren't just waiting for your return. Worst customer ever!!!! " I did not email them about this or anything so I dont understand where the hostility came from. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND STORE AT ALL COSTS! There are much better companies out there that do not harass their customers after purchase. I can only imagine how hostile and rude they are in person. Not sure why these people have such good reviews. I've been pricing out a handgun and a range to go to when I do buy one.. This place is the most expensive I've seen. Everything here can be had at a cheaper price on the internet. I know you still have to pay a transfer fee..but come on. They're $80 over priced on some items. And after discovering that it costs $13 per hour per person to shoot at their range, no thank you. I'd rather spend the extra gas money and go somewhere farther away that charges $10 per day!! read more

Purchased a shotgun with Mag Pull accessories. All of which was hand picked by my sales person and assured me that it was compatible with the shotgun I purchased. The original salesperson that helped me continually said it was crazy to buy the gun and put the Mag Pull accessories on it. When I told him which shotgun I wanted to purchase in addition to the Mag Pull accessories I assumed he went to get the gun. 20 minutes later he had not returned so I began looking for him and couldn't find him so I asked another salesperson for help and explained that the other one just disappeared. This guy helped me and got me on my way. Today I went back because the shotgun I purchased was NOT compatible with one of the Mag Pull accessories I purchased and was assured compatibility. I waited 30 minutes in line only to be passed over by the sales person who went to help the next person who was purchasing a gun (who arrived about 15 minutes after me). He then said if we had a quick question he would try to answer. My husband tried to explain the problem and the sales guy cut him off very unprofessionally and said that we needed to speak to a manager. He didn't even listen to what the problem was! After an hour we were turned away and the solutions were to return everything or wait until the gunsmith is back in town. I have purchased several firearms this company but the last few times I have been in there have been horrible and for the most part the staff I have dealt with have been most unprofessional. Just went to Shoot Straight in Apopka for the first time to check out guns. The most UNFRIENDLIEST place I've been in, in a Long time! Walked in the door no one even said Hi, Hello, How are you doing, Can I/We help you, Not a Damn Word, and I know by just standing there looking around we Had to look Confused. Yes they were busy, but at times, there were employees by themselves for a moment or so, AND I know for a fact employees saw us. So we start towards a girl behind the counter and tell her what we're looking for and if someone could help us, she didn't seem to want to help too much and when the color we wanted wasn't in stock or they didn't carry it, she called for someone else who then went to go get "Someone" else. We waited for a minute, then started to look around, finally stopping near the Kid/Boy, that went to get the last person. The Kid/Boy was helping some people BUT another older male employee was right in front of us, turned and left WITHOUT saying anything. He came back AND then asked if we needed anything. I said we've been here for around 10 minutes and couldn't get any help, and that the Kid/Boy there( I did say He ) went to go get us someone else but haven't seen that person. The Kid/Boy said the other person probably couldn't find us. The older guy then said we've been busy, BUT NEVER SAID SORRY FOR THAT! So, I told the older guy what we're looking to buy and he pointed and told us in what areas to look. We go over there, looking, employees are here and there, BUT, yet again no one acknowledges us. Looking still dumb founded, we don't know Squat about guns, decide to go back to Saint Cloud and deal with Signal Zero Supplies there. So glad Shoot Straight gave us the Cold Shoulder.
