So... I had on my bucket list that I wanted to shoot a gun at least once in my life... my stepson goes regularly and has a membership with Shoot Straight so I finally asked him to take me. It's a big place... lots of guns and accessories. Don't ask me about any of it... cause I know nothing... my stepson on the other hand knows a lot about guns. Since I was new, I had to sign a waiver and provide my ID. There is also a sign-in sheet if you're going to the range to shoot. It's all very professional but also no pressure... the people at the counter were very helpful. Mondays are ladies day... so women shoot free (time on the range) which is a great deal when you wanna go on a "special date" ... LOL. I enjoyed my time there with my family... strange to say?? As an executive member (more than $1000/yr fee) I do not appreciate waiting for one of the limited number of rifle lanes when they are, in fact, being used for pistol firing! When patrons are done with rifles, they should be asked to step thru the door to the pistol lanes (there were plenty open) if someone, particularly an executive member, ( or really anyone), is waiting on a rifle lane. Seems like common sense to me. Overall, I love the place. Just pointing out an area for improvement I experienced today and several times over the past few years. read more

I took my 21 year off son for his birthday to the Apopka store for some father son time. He was excited to fire some of his guns. What a mistake. From the moment we arrived, 2 sales persons behind the counter made it clear from their artitude, they were condescending and aloof. As a 35 year veteran of law enforcement, and member of SWAT for years, plus surviving 2 deadly force encounters, in modesty, i have forgotten more about guns than he will ever know. They ralked to my son like he was 5 years old, and very impatient with us signing in. On the range, we were constantly approached about our firearms in plain view. No one on the range but us. Yet, while shooting, they continued to sweep up shell casings by our feet. Seeiously? They constantly stared at us from the countet, sneering. So, surprise, hell will freeze over before we return. And the sad part, when we arrived, we had plans to buy some ammo, some equipment, and a small framed Glock. Nit happening. I'd rather pay double than give them the sale. read more

His coworker Mac was also helpful with maintenence of the rifle and if any finishings were required in the future. Both guys were knowledgeable and providing me with ways to save with cleaning kits. My husband and I were going hunting and came to sight in our guns in the rifle range. The employees were very nice and got us set up with a membership, targets and a lane quickly. I gave them a 4 star rating because they didn't have any ammo for my .243, but they did suggest we check Walmart which had some in stock. Also, the rifle range is only 25 yards. Which is a bit short when you're trying to make sure your scope is sighted in properly. We would come back again. read more

I went to Shoot Straight in Apopka with my dad and my husband on Sunday for the second time. I was greeted by David Marquez who's costumer service was impeccable. He provided explanation on a 2A legal which was very informative. He was able address my dad's questions on purchases and CCW in spanish. But what was so amazing was his willingness to show my husband and I how to use the firearm we purchased. If you want excellent service in English and Spanish please ask to speak with David Marquez. Check and inventory your boxes when you use Shoot Straight as the FFL. I didn't ch my box for the accessories only the gun and serial numbers. However when I got home and viewed the "unboxing video " on YouTube, I discovered that the plastic bag that my accessories was in, was opened. I didn't figure out why, until I saw that was missing the "special wrench " ,unique to the rifle manufacturer that was in the accessories bag, but was missing as shown on the YouTube Unboxing video. Someone at Shoot Straight in Apopka, STOLE the WRENCH OUT OF MY BOX. I purchased two rif from an o dealer and used Shoot Straight in Apopka as my FFL as required to get my rifles delivered there and do the Federal Transfer paperwork. Had a great time shooting with my nra instructor Shay for a class G class. I fired about 6 hours using 3 diff weapon systems. While I'm used to shooting outside mostly it was a good experience indoors and wasn't hot or stuff inside. Now, I feel like the staff could've more cordial in greeting ppl as they come in and out but after shooting at ranges for over 20 years I guess some staff rather take the open carry tough guy look vs being candid and at least appearing to actually be helpful. Do not ship your guns with shoot straight! They simply tossed two long guns in a box with some paper and sent to MT. Large reputable shop that receives them advised it was worse packing job they had ever seen. Guns rested against box exterior with NO padding and broke during shipment. Called web sales, spoke to Bobbi (mgr.) who confirmed standard practice to ship with paper and offered NO sympathy for the damage. These were family guns from my father that saved for 59 to ship to Nephew for Christmas. Never again for any service after that experience. EVER! read more

I ordered one online and once I brought it home my brother knew immediately it didn't work, there was an issue with the trigger. Once they ship it to the dealer if you refuse it, they charge you 25% even if it's broken and if you leave the dealership with the gun it's a done deal. I would give zero stars if I could. Purchased a gun paid in full, call and tell me was priced wrong and I have to pay the difference. This was after they confirmed everything with another manager onsite and all paperwork filled out. This company does not care about customers and does a price bait and switch. I called and asked about a specific mag and wanted to know if it was available. They told me it was but when I got there they didn't have it and tried to sell me a different one. I drove over 30mins to get there. Don't trust them. They'll be untruthful to make a sell. I'll advise you try your local gun shops instead of going to this place. No integrity whatsoever! It was a fair skinned guy with curly hair to be specific. I did not buy nor will I be returning to spend money. They showed me exactly who they are. I am not a gun enthusiast. In fact, I am a little fearful of guns. For this reason, I decided to take a gun safety class and to seek certification for a conceled carry permit. Altamonte Coley was my instructor on a Saturday morning. He led our small class though everything we need to know to own and use a firearm responsibly and then carefully coached us on the range to practice. I left this class with a healthy respect for all of the responsibily that accompanys the use of these types of weapons. I appreciate Mr. Coley's friendly, no-nonsense approach and leadership. I took my son and son n law to the casselberry location on Father's Day. my son and I had bought month pass the week before. When the passes were first purchased, they were two different monthly memberships. But they had us both in a single lane. They said they would let us know when another lane opened and never did. This time around, they gave us two lanes for 3 shooters. We we were told one of our weapons could only be shot on the rifle lanes and would be told when one opened. Again no one told us. After about 1/2 hour, there were so many people in the range you couldn't pay attention to those standing around and watching. I'm fact, I had 4 people behind my lane watching someone shoot in another lane. There was no range master or employee in the lanes to control the people. This is a very dangerous practice that could allow for a accident. It was so out of hand we left. I told them on the way out, and they didn't seem concerned. we will never return to this range, As their only concern seems to be over selling range time and not safety. read more

I still like the gun shop and the guys who work there are generally very nice. It's a good shop with a good selection ... but ... I tried to order a Nighthawk Firehawk (a $5,000 gun) about 6 months ago and was told "we're not doing special orders". I called them again about 2 months ago and wanted an Agent 2 (about a $6,000 gun) and was told the same thing ... "no special orders". I called again today and tried ordering a Volquartsen pistol, which is a $2,000 gun and they said the same thing again. You would think they'd be willing to make a simple phone call to Nighthawk / Volquartsen and order a gun for a customer. This place lost out on $13,000 from just me, in less than 6 months... just because they didn't want to make a couple of phone calls. I really hope the owner reads this... I'll still shop with you guys but, I rarely buy guns that any stores keep in stock so... I doubt I'll be buying anything anytime soon, being that this store seems to be unwilling to place an order. read more

There were good and bads to this place. The staff had a few decent people but overall they were pretentious. I understand fully that it can be a stressful and dangerous at times job. However the staff can be very rude about how they handle situations such as inadvertent rule violations. The manager there was even worse. When approached about the issue we had he became defensive and would not admit that his employee was rude. Although this is the first issue we had the way in which it was handled was not appropriate and due to this they lost our business. read more

The staff is professional, knowledgeable and what can I say about the selection - If they don't carry it, you probably don't want it. I worked with JR on my latest purchase and he was helpful, well informed and patient with my many questions on different firearms until I finally made my decision. I love this store and range! The staff are all helpful, knowledgeable and friendly; I find that there is a gun and testosterone induced unfriendliness in most gun stores, but not so much here. And considering the current politics and the sheer amount of new people coming into all the gun stores, the staff here maintains a lot of patience and understanding with the uneducated customers. The gun selection is quite vast, and while they don't have a lot of ammo lately, when they do get it in, they do a great job of divvying it out fairly so everybody who wants some has a chance. The range is awesome as well, lots of lanes and brightly lit. They have range ammo, targets and they also have ear and eye protection if you don't have your own. I love coming here and enjoy spending a couple of hours booth shopping and shooting. read more
