I have purchased 3 guns from them and all and all a great experience. All I have to say is that Aaron is a total JERK with Gun Ego. His approach is rude and very unsafe in the range. He took at loaded gun from my wife and spoke to her like a dog. We use double ear protection, so did not hear the announcement over the speaker inside the range that it was time to u load. He decided it would be a wise idea to take her loaded gun out of her hands. However, Josh the manager was AMAZING dealing with the issue. Stay clear from AARON he needs to learn people skills, not have GUN EGO or act as if he's the Big Guy on campus. I'm giving 4 stars for the rest of the staff, Aaron deserves a negative one. read more

Went to the Orlando show on Saturday and made a purchase. The people at the show were helpful and kept things moving with no problems. The purchase was available beginning on Thursday. Visited the Apopka location to pickup and it was an absolute disaster. Ignored by staff -- you can be busy and still say something to the effect of 'We'll be with you as soon as possible', acknowledge someone's existence is step one and very easy to do even while busy. The small manager sat in his office while his staff was busy not lending a hand. The person that eventually did assist didn't know where the paperwork was even though it was supposed to be available for pickup on Thursday and I didn't arrive until Friday evening. The small, rude manager came over to the register that was about to be used and instead of going to another, told the sales associate (who was helping a customer) to move to another register then basically tossed tickets toward the sales associate to shoot at their range as an apology for the inconveniences that took place while there. He didn't actually apologize, step in or act in a professional manner. While waiting a sales associate was asked for help as he was helping another customer. He asked another associate who was just chatting with someone and he said "I'll get to it when I get to it". Terrible service of sales associates as well as manager. Training or re-training is definitely needed. Will not go to this location again and in the future will bring permit to events so there is no need to ever go to any of the brick and mortar stores again. read more

Bought a $750 handgun, S&W mp 357 after a year and a half only shot it twice only the cylinder release came off the gun called today to seek assistance and the response from Raul was: "we don't have a gunsmith here in Orlando only Tampa you can send it to S&W?!?!? This place is pretty great. I have been coming here for 12 years. Always a great selection of good quality new and used merchandise and the shooting range usually doesn't have much of a wait if any. The staff is knowledgeable and the prices are generally fair. I have never felt pressured to buy anything I wasn't interested in and if the staff doesn't have answers for you they will find them. read more

I have only been shooting a little over a year and a half. I came in and informed them that I am new to firearms. He answered every single question I needed to know. One of the young man went over basic firearms with me on the range to show me some basic safety issues. I've had nothing but a good experience. There are many reviews that give this place a bad name. People need to understand the amount of new people buying firearms in the United States is off the chart they are extremely busy. No one in here is rude they are always happy to help as soon as they finish with the client that they are working with. The only time that I get upset is when you point a firearm at them at the counter please don't do this. This is the best place to go if you are you are new to shooting. read more

But, with the state of what is happening in our country with gun control and our gun community I thought I would let that go and try going again, because gun stores need our support. I went and used the gun range and after bought a shotgun from the demo gun table. From the time I arrived until the time I left, I was treated professionally by the entire staff. Wow.. just left this location.. We walked in, shopped, grabbed 2 range bags, ammo, an extra gun clip and 2 gun safes.. We were prepared to just drop $800 on all of this. We got ignored, asked for help, sent to other counters only to get ignored again.. Once we got someone's attention he said oh.. our POS system is down and got sent over by yhe shooting range to be rang up.. only to once again be 100% ignored.. There were plenty of employees milling around ignoring everyone. We spent a half hour trying to get anyone to check out our purchases.. We finally got tired of it, left everything in a pile on the floor and walked out.. I will never step foot into this ridiculous place again.. PS.. since this review we have been to their Casselberry location.. much different experience there. Nicer people, friendly, attentive and professional.. they are my regular location now. read more

Everyone here is so helpful. I brought in my rife that had jammed (bought it elsewhere, years ago). Even though their regular gunsmith was not at the Apopka location, they regular employees were able to help me to help unjam it. I have also been to their range, which was much larger than other ranges that I have been to, so there was pretty much no wait at all. read more

Awful company, shipped a faulty item and I told them what was wrong with it. They tell me to return then say the buyer caused the problem and only give a partial refund. This has happened to a few people, check out better business bureau reports. Customer service is very rude to work with as well. read more

Don't buy from this company, they sell so many guns that they don't care about customer service at all! Bought a gun at the Orlando Gun show on July 11th, had to wait 5 days to pick up the Taurus 9mm, whike my boyfriend purchased an expensive S&W Shield 2.0. I purchased and pay for a background check, even though I am a CWP holder. Fine, I understand that it was a gun show and hard to keep everyone honest. Tried to pickup our guns on Thursday, but the line was wrapped around the building. Came back on Saturday and waited 2+ hours to pickup our guns. We wanted to shoot the new gun, but another hour to get on the range was not worth it when we had to be 3 hours away in Jacksonville. So I left and went to an outdoor range there. The 9mm I bought from this Shoot Straight jammed right out of the box. Literally, I put the magazine in and it jammed. I had to clear it, tried again. Got one shot out of it before it jammed. Switched magazines and had it jam a third time so bad that I couldn't even clear it. I was terrified to drive around like that, so I had to have a range officer clear it for me. I tried to call Shoot Straight Apopka in Monday, but just got voice mail. I arrived today to tell them about the issue - they don't care and refused to help me. I didn't buy an extremely expensive firearm, but bought an average one. I do expect it to work when I buy it! I was told the only thing I can do is call Taurus and hope they help me with a broke gun. I assure you, my boyfriend and I will NEVER buy from here again, nor will we ever shoot here again. I would rather give my business to another company, one that is will to stand by the products they sell and care about their customers. I'll also make sure all my friends and family know of the lack of customer service here.... And we have a lot of 2nd Amendment friends. Good luck with any purchases here, you better hope everything is 100% perfect. Sadly, the range officer showed me a tiny chip in the gun that was causing the jam. After allowing thousands of people to mess with the guns at the show, it's sad that they don't stand behind their products! We used the handgun range and had a good time - brought a few guns of our own and picked up our range ammo here, though it's probably cheaper to bring your own rounds. The on-range supervisor was helpful and they've got eye and ear protection you can borrow (no charge) if you don't have your own. The store is huge, and full of taxidermy so even if you're not in the market for a new firearm or safe there's plenty to gawk at. On the weekend, the range is busy but we didn't have to wait for a lane. Mondays are free range days for ladies so I'll try to time my next visit for a Monday! read more

I've purchased firearms from various central Florida stores for years. Seems I'm always swapping out for something different and upgrading into the thousands range which is not difficult to do these days. Shoot Straight is the most expensive retailer I've done business with. I've purchased quite a few firearms from them because they had in stock what I was looking for at the time - always to learn that a store in Holly Hill sells the same firearm for hundreds less. For example, a Benelli M4, 5 rd mag tube, sells for 2400.00 at Shoot Straight and the same one is for sale in Holly Hill for 1999.00. I'm not bashing - just making aware of the difference in mark up for a 30 minute drive. read more

I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I am new to the area(a little over a year). This was the first range I went to, and the first place I purchased a firearm from. My husband had been here previously, amd recommended it to me. We went I several times looking specifically at Kimber micro 9mm. Upon holding the firearm, and looking around, we decided to wait. About a month later, we did purchase a Kimber from them, just in a larger size. We have since purchased a few more weapons from them, and they are our preferred range. The price is more than fair, the staff is nice, professional, knowledgeable, and if they don't know, they don't guess. They are always in accordance with the law, and let you know up front about restocking fees, background check fees, range fees, etc. I have gone to other ranges, but I honestly prefer to drive the little bit to the Apopka location. I have never, and I do mean never had a bad experience here. It's amazing to me that so many people have complained about it. If you need help, ask. If you are dead set on getting a certain firearm, wait til they have one, or buy elsewhere. If you're having a bad hair day, stay home. If you treat them respectfully, they reciprocate. Follow the rules, be kind, amd see what happens. Give them a chance, because there are 2 types of people who leave reviews, angry, unhappy people and satisfied ones. read more

Just went here for the first time for a friend's birthday, and it was a great experience. They have a large sales room with a variety of guns and accessories for purchase. They have several shooting Lanes, including a separate rifle range. The rate for using the lanes is $15 per person. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a very good experience. If it wasn't so far away from where I lived, I would absolutely go more often. If you're in the area, or planning to do a group outing, I would absolutely recommend them. read more

I decided to go to shoot straight because they had the best price on the Glock 42. The girl who initially helped me was very knowledgeable and super personable. I purchased my Glock with no hassle and feeling very happy with my purchase. After I went back to pick up my gun I was greeted by the manager Raul who had finished up my paperwork and helped me pick out my accessories. I purchased a few items and some ammo and left to head home. As I got home I realized they had sold me .9mm instead of the .380 ammo. I immediately called and asked for the manager in which I got asked a hundred questions why I needed to speak to him, then ended up he was busy and I was told to come in with my receipt. Thankfully Raul got back to me within 10 minutes of me hanging up the phone with his employee and said he would take care of everything and was truly sorry for the mix up. I drove back a few days later and Raul was true to his word, I got my ammo and was not charged the difference from the ones I was initially given. My only issue is when I had gone back to the store and asked for Raul specifically I was again asked 100 questions why I needed him and was he expecting me etc. It just seemed strange that both times I had asked for the manager I was questioned before they would go get the manager in charge. Overall though the team was knowledgeable and they have a great selections. Range is a nice size and prices aren't too bad either. read more

I just called to get some simple info on firearm rentals and the guy on the phone was such an asshole! He starts of by saying I need ONE of three things: bring in my own gun in working order, have a concealed carry permit, become a member, ext.. I asked a simple question regarding if the membership was required if I meet the other two criteria and he kept repeating the same thing scripted line and threatened to hangup. The call lasted literally 1 minute, not like I was wasting his time. I will not be celebrating my birthday at this location this weekend. read more
