The…read morestaff are very thorough and will take as long as they need to make sure that a pair of shoes fit well. They won't sell you anything that they're not 100% sure about. The range of shoes is very good - mostly Startrite and Clarks - and although they are quite pricey, I feel that they are worth every penny. It's a huge relief to know that my children are wearing well fitted shoes, and they get plenty of compliments in them too! I haven't bought any adult shoes here yet, but I have browsed them, and they stock a fantastic range.

The adult range of shoes is not what it was 10 - 20 years ago as they try to move more with trends rather than concentrating on what they (did?) do best. Greatdespite my best efforts, I couldn't think of a single place I could get kids shoes and claim it on expenses! So failing that, we headed to Clarks. This was a pretty-much standard branch as you get in every town centre. The lady who served us was pleasant, not particularly exciting, but perfectly nice. She measured his feet - an achievement, as he usually screams blue murder when the foot guage comes out! - and then brought us a selection of shoes. I'd asked if she could just bring us stuff in the sale, but typically she brought a selection of every price range, and typically my son wanted the most expensive pair available. So with our backsides smacked to the tune of £28 we left with a pair of shoes. Which, two weeks later, he is complaining hurt his feet. Best £28 I've ever spent.

If she doesn't need new shoes, they are more than happy to say so. We've barely had to wait to be served, which is probably not great from their business perspective, but is brilliant as a customer.
