I visited Shoe Savers to have the heel cut down on a pair of my Louboutin pumps. The owner was very honest, yet cordial, about how much he could "change" the shoe and the true impact I'll feel after the heel reduction. At pickup, I had the pleasure of meeting his wife, who was friendly and flexible. Although I was unaware the store doesn't take credit cards, they were willing to accept my check with proper identification. It's a business, so I totally understand. Overall, I gave a 5-star rating because my need was met and their customer service was awesome! I will return to have additional services rendered. read more

This is the only place to go to fix shoes that you care about. I have been coming here for about 10 years. I recently made the mistake of having the Houstonian Shoe Hospital "fix" my boots that I needed quickly. I thought that they were ruined, but Shoe Savers fixed them and they look like new. Shoe Savers will work magic on your shoes. Do not go anywhere else. If you do, you will regret it! read more

I wish I had read these reviews before I took my shoes to this place. Rude is an understatement! I have never been treated in such an ugly way! My sister in law passed away a week ago after suffering from cancer, and these people left me an ugly message a couple of days ago because I had left my shoes in their store for around 30 days. At 6:05, a woman called (the wife of the owner, I believe), left a message and told me she was going to have to get rid of my shoes if I didn't pick them up by the end of the business day (even though I had already paid for the repair, and the business day was over when she called). I was at work and didn't see the call until 7:00. I frantically tried to call them to explain what had happened, but there was no indication that I could leave a message. I tried to contact them through their email site, but there was no way to send a message. I prayed all evening that they wouldn't throw out my favorite shoes, but I must also say how upset they made me. The tone in the voice on the message was degrading and curt. I spoke to her the next morning - she told me they would throw out my shoes if I didn't get them - I told her why I was delayed for the last few weeks, and she told me that they didn't get involved with anyone's reasons- Really??? She didn't offer any condolences - just a bad attitude and tone. It was like she was angry at the world and wanted to set me off, which she did! I told her she was being rude, and she hung up on me! I began to wonder why I paid them to fix my shoes- surely there are businesses in Houston that want to serve, and this is NOT one of them!! I went later that day to get my shoes. I didn't have my tag, so she rushed back to her husband, gave him my shoes, and told him that he better have me sign for them. He came to the front and was as RUDE as she was (she made faces from the back of the store while he talked to me)- he didn't even fix everything on one of my shoes!!! When I told him that he was supposed to glue down a section, he said he didn't write it down, and when I complained about the call coming the night before after 6:00 when they closed, he threw my shoes back in the bag and told me that he didn't have to fix the problem since I had a bad attitude! This really confused me, since their attitude and tone were designed to create upset. I really feel they don't deserve to be representing the shoe service in our city! What an awful, nasty couple- I will NEVER go back - Less than a star would be a better rating.... read more

I've been using Shoe Savers for about 6 years now and I have never been disappointed once. At this point, there's no one else in Houston that I'd trust with my expensive shoes. He's refurbished plenty of my heels, Valentino's, Manolo's, and Louboutin's, but his stand out job for me was repairing a brand new pair of Louboutin's my puppy had unfortunately gotten to. One of the heels had been chewed, the nude patent leather had been ripped, and the interior red of the heel was gone. I brought them to Barry and his wife (who has always been extremely helpful to me) and she told me that I could reach out to CL, describe what had happened and ask if they could provide any replacement leather since it's such a different nude leather there was no way they could match it on their own. I reached out, CL service is impeccable, they sent me the replacement leather, and Barry got to work. I picked my shoes up about a week and a half later and I'm amazed at the craftsmanship. Barry completely saved my shoes and you can't even tell they were ever chewed apart. Fixing the shoes was not at a cheap price, but well worth it to save a $900 pair of shoes that were no longer even available in stores. read more

I give them 4 stars for not screwing up my CL's and not bad of a price. But if I could give them 0 stars for customer service, I would!! HORRIBLE customer service! I asked a question, lady flips on me and didn't even want to take my shoes, nor want anything to do with me! If I didn't want to get them done I would've taken my shoes and left! She triggered my anxiety. -.- so the man who does the work.. Who also had a tad bit of an attitude, took my shoes in. If you want a good experience.. Just don't even say a word and agree to what she asks you. Smh. read more

The woman at the counter is simply a fool. I had a similar experience to another reviewer. I dropped off several pars of shoes close to Thanksgiving. 15 days later, I began receiving multiple calls each day to "PICK UP MY SHOES". I also received the threats that the shoes would be thrown away. It was as if she needed the nearly $900 charged for 7 pairs of shoes for a new kidney. The work is good but not that good. Try Richmond Shoe Saver. read more

I wear very nice shoes, and wouldn't trust them with anyone else. Barry is all about business and not very chatty. If that's what you want, find some other place. His wife Ellen, is very nice, not that Barry isn't. Beyond the normal customer service, I think she's a very caring person. If you want a great cobbler, come here. If you want to be entertained, go somewhere else. read more

They won't let me give less than a star, but I would give none. Worse place ever. Took some shoes that are not the most expensive, but they are certainly not what I would consider cheap. The answer is that they do not work on low end stuff. Took 2 purses worth over $500 each and because he could not find a brand tag he said the same thing. He told me to toss them and buy a new one. I told him the price on the bags then he looked at them and said he could fix them for $200 each but he was not willing to do that work. Took them someplace else and the shoes were fixed for $30 and $35 for each purse. Definetely not even worth trying this place. Rudest more ignorant person around. Don't even waste your time. read more

Wow. This place has some cranky crass folks running the asylum. The reason for the single star is only because they didn't lose my shoes. However, the work on 1 pair was less than desirable and their attitude at pickup was atrocious. 1st off, there was no indication that this was a cash-only establishment. Although a pain in this day of online banking and paperless transactions, this policy would be acceptable if communicated clearly at time of service or on claim stub. It's not even on their website. Apparently, there is a sign posted amidst all the sales items on the wall. It certainly is noticeable. 2nd, the price of repair is exorbitant but I accepted it because I needed the repair and they were the only place open at that time of day. So, since I don't have check nor carry a debit card with me, I will be forced to make a return trip within 2 weeks ( also a policy not noted in a convenient place, if at all) cash if I want to see my shoes again. In the meantime, I have ordered a replacement pair of shoes because there is no way, I would wear one of the pairs they 'fixed'. The leather is a complete mismatch and quite different from the swatch originally shown. In addition to this, they will call you repeatedly and after thinking they have hung up the phone, will talk in a manner I can't express hear. Such lovely people. I couldn't image why the Houston Show Hospital remains in business but now I have an idea. Their competition is far worse!! read more

I never post reviews but I feel compelled after reading some of the negative reviews for Shoe Savers. They did a beautiful job adding rubber soles to my Louboutins and pair of Manolo Blahniks. And the owners were very kind, professional, and friendly. If you treat them with politeness and respect they will treat you the same way. I suspect the people that left nasty reviews did not treat the owners with the level of respect they deserve. Take your quality leather goods to Shoe Savers and you will not be disappointed! read more

Wow so incredibly, horribly rude- I'm still in shock! I called to ask a question about a new YSL bag, older sounding man said he couldn't help me then hung up on me while I was in mid-sentence!!! I called back to be sure, and he let it go to voicemail! I will NEVER EVER go there! Can't believe they are even in business. read more

I worked for a company that took all our purses here to be repaired. I have referred many people here. I went in to have some shoes repaired. They said that will be $29.99 and we only take cash or checks. They asked me to pay in advance. I didn't have a check or enough cash and told them I would bring it when I pick up my shoes. They wouldn't repair my shoes unless I paid them in advance. I went down the street to the Shoe Hospital and saved $10.00. I would never recommend this repair shop to anyone again. read more

This place overcharges and they are really rude!! The quality for designer shoes isn't great. Save your money and "save" your shoes somewhere else!!! read more

DO NOT GO TO SHOE SAVERS! I'm in awe that people so rude can still be in business...it's ridiculous. I dropped my 2nd pair of heels off to have the soles protected. Neiman Marcus recommeded them. The first time I brought my heels in they were rude, but I dealt with it. The second time they said my shoes would be ready a week or so later on a Friday morning. I called Thursday, to see if there was a chance they may be ready that evening for pickup instead. The lady was unhelpful and uncooperative. She wouldn't even look to see if they were ready. She was busy, and couldn't be bothered. I told her they were the most unprofessional business owners I have ever dealt with and I would not be back and I hung up on her. She called me back and said she had a 103 degree fever and not to ever talk to her like that. I told her she should go home and get some rest and she hung up on me! Then her husband called me, told me to come pick up my shoes and hung up on me! I immediately went in, I mentioned all I wanted was for her to check to see if my shoes were possibly ready. He was gruff and rude. He mumbled the B word as I walked out.....seriously?? Are you kidding me??? And I just payed for that? No thanks SHOE NAZI'S!!! I think they have inhaled that glue in the back of the shop for too long and are all crazy! read more

I've never in my life been treated so poorly by anyone in any service industry ever! Absolutely the rudest and most arrogant owners. For that alone, they do not deserve anyone's business. I brought in my Valentino flats which desperately needed to be repaired. The lady first didn't think it could even be fixed. She asked the gentleman and he said it was ok. So she gave me the price of $140 cash to be paid when I picked it up. Surprised by the high price, I asked more questions about what was to be done.... She became incredibly rude and unhelpful. I said well let me think of it (and wanting another quote). Then she became incredibly impatient and aggressive, saying well I'll need your cash up front! I became insulted she thought I wouldn't pay, said it wasn't the case and I just want to be certain what I am paying so much for and if it's worth it! Then she said well now I just refuse to do it for you. There are sooo many other wonderful shoe repair hospitals, it's not worth your time or energy for someone to ruin your day. Village Shoe Shop is doing the exact same repair for $65! read more

I've been using Shoe Savers for more than a dozen years. I've had consistently good service. They have saved many a beloved pair of shoes from the rubbish heap. It's great to work with a family run business that delivers a quality product. read more

Shoe Savers did a total overhaul on my Chanel wallet. It was used and abused and lambskin can't take a beating. When I picked it up, it looked brand new. In reference to the remarks about the owner being rude, I found him quite charming. Maybe I came on a good day. I am in love with my wallet again, that's all that matters to me. Beware, the service is not cheap, but the results are well worth the $$$$. read more

I dropped shoes off, decided I didn't want the repair, told the store to throw the shoes away. They wouldn't throw them away and told me to come pick them up. I have been out of town for 2 weeks. The wife harassed me about picking up the shoes and became very bitchy about picking them up while I'm out of town and started threatening me. I won't be back. read more

Small business owners ? I'm all in to support small mom and pop shops . The other day I stopped by to get my shoes fixed , I had two pair la boutins . They said it will coast $250 for two pair of shoes . I hesitated because price was too High . Left the shoes and over night there and decided the price is too much! school is starting and things are no where I can spend that much . Not to mention they only take cash ! When I came back the next morning , Person at the shoe saver store was completely rude !!! Said " I knew you were waste of my time yesterday"! Shockingly I took my shoes and walked out . They had some news papers adds on the wall saying they won awards and things like that in early 2000's but they don't mean anything with horrible customer service like that ?!? Needles to say to took my shoes to the shoe hospital down the road and paid $100 and they looked great ! Definitely I'm not going back to the shoe saver place , so much to support small businesses owners ;-( read more

one of worst experiences in long time. went to shop because neimans recommended but it was a serious mistake. owner was rude, wife or some lady in back was chiming in with no relevant input. don't mind spending money but want to be treated with honesty and respect. quoted one price at time of drop off but billed us way over when picked up. if u are a master coppler why were your rough estimates so off?? their attitude and customer service skills were pitiful and feel robbed. negative stars and never coming back. read more

Since when does a person who repairs shoes for a living think he can be totally rude to a customer that drops off shoes so that he, in turn, has something to repair! This husband/wife team wins the prize for unreasonably poor customer service and highly exaggerated prices. The wife calls me to tell me that I have until Friday (of the week she called) to pick up my shoes OR after Friday they won't be there. Granted my shoes were there for just short of 30 days, due to business travel, but she gave me an ULTIMATUM -- since when is that ethical. So I proceed to the store and begin to write a check, and the husband tells me CASH ONLY because I've been irresponsible for not having picked them up sooner. After I trot to the bank to get cash and then return, I must say that I told him his cash flow must be very poor to have such unreasonable policies in place. Of course, he denied that. Regardless - as cited by others in their reviews on this site there are many other fine shoe repair services in Houston -- be prepared to "follow their rules" as well as experience less than accommodating service should you choose to drop off your shoes for repair at this business. read more

I have never posted an online review of ANYTHING. Seriously. But I googled Barry and Ellen to remind myself of their last name because I was writing a thank you note to accompany a gift to them and I got sucked into these other reviews and I felt compelled. Let me set the record straight for anyone reading this - they are extremely good at what they do (and also, lovely people with whom I have had many conversations). I love fine shoes, and this is what you take them. I appreciate the fact that they don't want to waste their time dealing with crappy shoes. If you have crappy shoes, and you love them, that's all that matters. I have taken comfortable but inexpensive shoes to them and they have said to me "enjoy them while they last." And, folks, that's just honesty from a company that is exceptional at what they do. Not a big deal. I think a lot of these negative reviews are from people who are embarrassed that they were told something similar. We should applaud excellence and craftsmanship, and if you are lucky enough to be able to enjoy fine shoes, you will have a long and GRATEFUL relationship with Shoe Savers. I wouldn't think of taking my shoes anywhere else. They are artisans; don't ask they to be anything less. read more
