I was 13 years old and had a borrowed pair from a kid at a day camp I went to. They didn't fit him, so he gave them to me. The traditional black and white checkerboard pattern. They went great with my OP (Ocean Pacific) checkerboard hat with the flaps down the back. IT WAS 1985 PEOPLE. Flash forward to today. I was over in Southlake at the square and there happens to be a store. It's hot out and I just wanted to cool down for a few minutes. I went in and was surprised how much is different. It's not just checkboards anymore. They do have them, but lots of solids and different materials. Hemp, denim, suede and even lightweight materials them make them super comfortable. The prices were pretty decent as well. $30-$80 range for men and the kids shoes were in the $20-$40 range. Those were a little steep if I wanted to get shoes for a four year old, especially since her boat feet (which she inherited from me) grow so fast that it makes your head spin. They had lots of clothing and for the skateboard crowd many choices for decks, wheels, etc. Friendly staff and if I had the time and the money at that moment there would have been at least one new pairs of kicks for me. Maybe next time.

The staff was friendly and helpful in helping me find my size and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Not bad at all for a mall store at Christmas time!

So he can actually find something that fits & is comfortable. They have most general name brands, Nike, Sketchers, new balance, chuck Taylor's, etc. I personally have not looked past athletic or tennis shoes for anyone in my family, sometimes sandals, so I'm not to sure what the work shoe brands are beyond knowing sketchers or docs here but they have a lot! The staff has been helpful & friendly, though normally he's tall enough to reach high up items. They do offer a rewards program, so if you sign up you get at least a $5 or $10 voucher on your birthday even if you don't end up spending enough to meet the various levels of reward kick backs that you get. Last we went I had gotten a 15% off coupon in my email so we used it to get some new shoes for my husband. They also will run a few in store promos, the one running when we last visited was a buy one get one 1/2 off. Sales on brands they are over stocked on, etc. Over all a good place to shop, I wish they had their own store front, but you got to do what makes business work for your company to keep going, so keep it up!

I've been purchasing reeds and attending their oboe camps for about three years while our child…read moreattended Middle School Band. The folks at the store were always courteous and worked out issues related to doing last minute repairs and fulfilling reed orders. Their oboe camps are an entirely different animal. We recently had a major family event happen on the west coast that we had to fly out for. This event would keep us there for four days, and we would've missed the majority of our Oboe Camp reservation. So we emailed the director to cancel it. We were offered an alternative week to attend, but that was already reserved for another week-long camp we had reserved. At that point, we were told that we couldn't get refunded because of the policy agreement that was shown at the time of purchase. The main justification was to fund the instructors that were running the camps, and their associated costs. All fine and well, but these camps are always selling out every year. There's no shortage of demand for them. If one person is asking for a refund because of a major, family member passing-type of family event, the policy still stands? It stinks. If you're looking for a good shop to get hand-made reeds from, and a great staff to work with when it comes to oboe repair and finding the right products, than Bocal Majority is a good place to go. However, I would steer far away from the Camps. They clearly value profits and revenue over people in that regard, and your money and kids' attention is better spent elsewhere.
