THE BOW VALLEY LOCATION BROKE MY $800 HEELS AND LIED ABOUT IT. I've never experienced anything like this at a shoe repair place. I brought in a pair of Aquazzura heels to have the heel tips replaced, and the owner put tips in with too big of a screw, and broke both of the heels. I saw a weird looking gap and the leather looked messy when I picked them up - he claimed "the designer didn't have enough leather to cover the whole heel". Right. When I looked under the leather he'd messily glued back, the heels were split open. He's now claiming the "leather shrunk from being worn", which is not a thing that happens. I took them to another shoe guy and he confirmed the heels have big cracks and said it was a terrible job. read more

I had a pricey bag dear to my heart that needed a shoe repair shop as the zipper had come loose. My husband offered to bring the bag to Bow Valley Square nearby his workplace to have it fixed, what a doll! No line up to drop the bag off, polite service, inexpensive and the bag was finished a day before it was promised to be which saved us an extra trip downtown before our vacation! THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOW VALLEY SQUARE IN DOWNTOWN. This place is my "go to" shoe place in Calgary. The owner Tran is really good at what he does. He cares for all my high end designer shoes (Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Manolo, Ferragamo, etc). If I ever had a problem, he always took care of it. Recently, I had gave him my Jill Sander's leather jacket and he was able to bring back the luster in the jacket through polishing - suggested by his professional opinion. Well. I would say definitely don't go here again. First off they spent 25 mins looking for my shoes...trying to argue with me that they were supposed to be ready next week even though it says right on the slip they were to be ready 4 days ago. Then asked me if they could call me when they turn up!??!! Then the shop owner and his sister doing alterations both yelled at me once they finally found them. DO NOT GO HERE. not mention two other people in that time came in and both with problem with work they were going to get done and had already got done. What kind of shop gets you to pay up front, then loses your shoes, then yells at you in front if others when it was their mistake. Really sad. I will get over it as they are just shoes but I have never been treated like this. That's what I won't get over. read more

Go no further for amazing shoe repair. I'm not kidding! I own over 48 pairs (yes, slightly addicted!!) of designer heels and only trust them to the best. I'm slightly :) anal retentive, okaaay, a lot, and I'm never going elsewhere! I actually just stopped by Shoe Masters the first time as I was donating clothes to the Goodwill which is literally right beside them and needed some shoe spray. I was definitely drawn to his gregarious nature and I really, and I do mean, really, quizzed him on his technique, products used, duration of repair time...There were 3 pairs of designer boots (at least $1G each- ouchorama!) sitting on the shelf that were waiting for pick up. He gently pulled them off the shelf (like Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune!) and went into great detail about the work that he had done. I was hooked. Anyone who demonstrates that much passion for his job deserves my business. So, I brought in 5 pairs of designer heels to get rubber added over the existing slippery leather soles and double crossed my fingers that they would all turn out ok. Don't laugh- I've taken many a pair to Money's Worth and Best and was crushed to see they somehow managed to wreck them. Well, Shoe Masters did a phenomenal job. Another great part- he was at least $10-$15 per pair of shoes cheaper than anywhere else. Get your dancing, fancy-schmancy wingtips, heels, boots, or booties to him now! I'm not kidding! This is a review for the Northland Mall location. I brought a new pair of suede booties into have a non slip heel put on and when i picked up my boots the left bootie had a noticeable black machine oil stain on it. The suede on both booties had been vigorously brushed to hide the fact the area that held the stain had been slightly damaged when they tried to unsuccessfully remove the stain. I understand that mistakes are made but when I brought the stain to the attention of the shoe repair man he denied any wrong doing and told me that was how I brought them in. I called him out on his lie and then he informed me that I just got his "work" for free. What about my $150, new, worn once, now damaged boots? All the shoe repairmen had to say was "sue me". Terrible workmanship, rude service and questionable ethics. read more

Normally, I go to the Bow Valley location; however, I was by Chinook Centre yesterday and decided to visit that location instead (located across the street from the shopping centre). I was charged $42.00 to put soles on a pair of dress shoes (not designer, just used for the office) - typically, this is $25.00-$30.00 at the other location. I didn't complain but I did feel taken advantage of. Once I pick up my shoes I have no intention of returning to this location. Shoe Masters does quality repairs- I wouldn't take my shoes elsewhere- but this location seems to differ a lot in terms of price. read more
