He cares for all my high end designer shoes (Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Manolo, Ferragamo, etc). If I ever had a problem, he always took care of it. Recently, I had gave him my Jill Sander's leather jacket and he was able to bring back the luster in the jacket through polishing - suggested by his professional opinion. When I went to pick up the shoes the job was only half done, only one of the shoes having been reinforced as intended. I questioned the gentleman and he told me that this is what we had agreed to originally. This was completely untrue. If you decide to get your shoes repaired here be sure to get everything in writing or record your conversation with the clerk so you have some proof when the result is not as expected. That he tried to imply I was in the wrong made me very unhappy. Be careful.

The first time they repaired a broken heel and the second visit I had two pairs of boots repaired (one the back heel repaired and the second, replaced the soles). I don't remember how much I paid for the heel repair but for two pairs of boots I paid $75 which considering the cost of materials they aren't charging much for their labour. Both repairs are well done, I'm super satisfied. The best thing about this shop is the family that owns the business. It's a father and two sons. Their positivity and passion for their trade is enough to make your day. That might sound really cheesy but if you go there you'll know what I'm talking about! I'll be back to bring back other leather belts that I want to fix and shorten. They let me know that they can fix almost anything, the guy told me that they just repaired a canvas tarp so that should help explain with what type of stuff they can repair. They are located in Marlborough Mall, the shop is actually tucked behind the mall bathrooms, so walk in that direction and you'll see the shop at the end of the hall. I remember them being there when I was a kid, so it's been around for a while! This is the type of mom and pop shop that Calgary should support, this isn't some random hipster start-up but a genuine long-standing business that provides a real service! (The only reason I'm giving 4 stars to this place is they have a woman working at the desk that you have to deal with...I only saw her the second time, so I hope she's not around permanently. She was pretty petty with no concept of how her disposition hurt the business' reputation to new patrons, if they only were to deal with her.) These folks rock!!! Over the years, I have had an ankle that was originally shattered playing hockey at university 35 years ago, that has continued to gradually deteriorate over the years. Without the ongoing help from the folks at Alpine, I would hardly be able to walk. Gary just did several pairs of custom heel work for me to endure, and yes enjoy a month of walking amongst the hills and ruins of Italy. Donna kindly threw in a few pairs of laces. I walked in the front door and down the stairs and was immediately greeted by an older gentleman, who I suspect is probably the owner. I showed him the broken strap and he assured me that they could fix it, and that it would take about 2 days. He told me $30 to which I balked at (the bag was from Value Village originally...) and he dropped it to $20. Great. You do need to pre-pay here and they give you a pickup slip. I was then sick for the next few days and he called me twice to make sure I knew when they were closing for the holidays so that i could pick it up beforehand. When I came back the bag was ready and I couldn't tell which one had been broken before. In short: super convenient location for repairs, but not necessarily the cheapest.

Worst experience! Brought 9 pairs of shoes in. The guy had…read morethem for one day over TWO MONTHS - never called me to ask what to do with a couple of them as he forgot - then when I went to pick them up, they were all THROWN INTO A LARGE BAG scuffing/marking some other shoes! I brought them carefully and neatly stacked in a box with cloths in between so that they didn't touch the other shoes more than necessary. He accused me of bringing them in like that and I showed him the same box I brought them in with as I brought it to use the same way to get the shoes home. Had no respect for my property at all. Actually one pair of shoes were damaged from this lack of handling and I was furious as they had never been worn. To top it off, had to pay over $200 for the privilege! Totally over priced. I did not mask my displeasure and stated I would NEVER be back!
