When my parents came to visit recently, we stopped by Emerhoff's Footwear to get me a new pair of sneakers (mine had holes in the heels) and also to find a solid pair of shoes for my upcoming internship. The service was amazing--from the wide selection and quality brands to the genuinely helpful staff. I was able to try on a bunch of different sneakers until I found the right pair. Then, when it came to the work shoes, they helped me test out insoles and different fits until we found something that worked perfectly. A special shoutout to Chloe--she went above and beyond. They ordered the work shoes in for me, and instead of making me pay a ridiculous shipping fee to get them to my dorm, Chloe personally delivered them. Amazing service and knowledge of their customer base, I am proud to say that they value quality and service in high regard. Huge thanks to both Chloe and the store owner for the top-notch service, not just during the purchase, but all the way through until the shoes were in my hands. Staff members Amanda and Michael were so impressive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I love their huge selection of shoes, and their pricing is superb. BTW, great socks, including a new Florsheim model that both recommended and I now love. It's fun to go to a great store where the staff is elite. I was there today to find a matching wallet & purse. I took a wallet over to see if it matched. I put the wallet down by the purse, decided to think about it and made one more loop around the store before exiting. I got half way across the parking lot when an employee came hoofing across the parking lot and accused me of stealing the wallet - I told him it was by the matching purse and went back in the store to show him. He didn't apologize, not at all. I was humiliated and will never ever go back. I've shopped local for years to support this store, but I can order on line just as easy, and will.

But I had such a bad experience trying to return some socks at the Ankeny store I was mad enough to leave a review. The check who waited on me,I wish I had thought to get her name, was rude and condescending to me right from the start. When she heard I was making a return she seemed to have it already decided not to accept it. We're talking $20 socks with a receipt and the original pkg. I left the store so disgusted I vowed to cut up my card and do my future shopping elsewhere. Now for the flip side of this. I decided one clerk would not have won this and decided to try a different location. I went to the Merle Hay Mall location and got the pleasant customer experience I'm used to getting at SC. I wish I had got her name also. She was pleasant and efficient and I was in and out in less time than at the Ankeny store and actually got something accomplished. So 5 stars for the Merle Hay store zero stars for Ankeny. I have decided to keep my card and just avoid Ankeny SC. Thanks for letting me vent. I guess I had to give it 1 star but that isn't my opinion
