I had developed high levels of trust regarding the quality of stock, staff knowledge and representation of products and the store standing behind the forgoing. I bought a pair of ($160) Birkenstock sandals that fell apart after 2 summers. I brought them, complete with the receipt, into the store where photos were taken, a commitment to bring the issues to the Birkenstock representative was made with a promise to get back to me. Months passed with nothing so I returned to the store and, in the absence of the staff member I spoke with earlier, I left a message. Months passed. I called and spoke with the staff member and then to Daniel who said he would look into it and get back to me... nothing. I returned to the store and left a message for Daniel. Now, following several weeks of silence, I have given up.

This place isn't their living room, it's an open business which should not be open to the public and putting people at risk during a worldwide pandemic. It is up to the customers to leave of course which I did but once you are inside you are exposed to the same indoor air as MANY people not wearing masks all over the store. The store was packed and no-one were wearing masks. If the rest of the world had the same narrow minded selfish attitude as the owners of this business the hospitals would NOT be able to care of any of us, it is a shame to witness such selfish and disrespectful attitude.

My husband and I were shopping at the Penticton location at the end of November 2018. When I went…read moreto pay I asked if I could use my new Triangle card as they had been denying me previously. She had explained she had to enter it manually as they were a franchise and not a Corporate Store. No problem I said and was happy I could finally use my card. A few days later I went back to the store to make another purchase. When I went to pay I handed the cashier my Triangle card (the same cashier I had day previously) she looked right at me and said we don't take those. We are a Franchise store and not a corporate store. I said oh you just did it for me the other day. You had to enter it manually. She never said another word to me and would not make eye contact with me. When she was finished with my transaction she just shoved my stuff into a bag and then shoved it at me without a word. The cashier working beside her knew she was lying and never said a word. My husband just went back in the Penticton store to do a return and spoke to the assistant manager about this situation. All she could do was make up excuses and had no answer as to why the cashier would lie to a customer. My husband had the receipt with the triangle promotion on it and the other without. Lost our business for sure!!! Not the only store in this town that has lost our business. You people really must spend some money on training your staff. If your going to offer something to your customers you really should honor it.

Tried to return them and got the third degree, I don't know why given the new pair I was going to buy was almost twice as expensive. I've never had to argue with two people to take my money before; very strange experience. Anyways they finally wore me down and convinced me to accept a refund less than what I had paid (not sure that's legal) because the boots were NOW on sale. Then the cashier pulls a fast one and tells me the lesser refund can only be in store gift cards. That's a mistake buddy. So I've found every website I can and posted this review, I then I printed a more detailed version and posted it on ALL the student boards at Okanagan College (trade school). I also make sure to mention it to everyone on my jobsites. By the way; did I mention I'm in trades? I spend thousands of dollars each year on boots, hardhats, safety gear, clothing, jackets etc? Penticton Marks will not see a dime of my money and hopefully none from anyone I talk to.
