I've never have had a more dreadful customer and product experience then I've had at Adhoc. The owner Virginia, was helpful and kind well she was selling me $300 Charlotte Stone sandals. Then after 3 months of use, the sandals completely fell apart. The shoe bed ripped away from the sole and the leather straps began to fray apart. The sandals were obviously expensive so I wore them with great care. I later took my sandals to a local cobbler in Kelowna -who's been in business for over 20 years- who confirmed that the sandals were horribly made and a poor quality.
At first when I brought my complaint to Virginia, she was apologetic and concerned. That was until the responsibility to resolve the matter became hers. She had first emailed the designer in hopes they would send me a new pair. When the designer no longer had any in stock Virginia emailed me, "we'll have to live with them I guess, we tried."
I then said that this was unacceptable given the cost and how quickly they fell apart and that I expected some kind of refund from Adhoc. This is where Virginia made a huge business mistake. Instead of recovering with flair and taking care of her customer she placed the blame on me for ruining the sandals. This was also after she assured me that she would take care of the matter and make things right.
I was astonished that this is how she chose to run her business. I like expensive shoes and have no problem spending the money for quality pieces, but I expect them to last more then a few months. I was left with no other choice then to "live with it."
I've never felt settled and at peace with the way this was dealt with. When Adhoc came up on my news feed tonight, I thought it was important to share my story in hopes that no one else loses their money to Adhoc this way. I love supporting local, but when local businesses don't take care of their customers, why would I spend my money there again?
I should mention, Virginia's only solution to me was that she would take 15 % off my next purchase at her store. read more
