Run away. These people are garbage.
We had nearly exhausted our search in the area for a new apartment and settled on SCN for what we thought was going to be a great spot for us and our dog. The price was in our budget, the size is what we wanted, the location was mehhhh..
The first day we came upon the complex there was a resident there walking with two very large "pitbull" looking breeds. We chatted her up for a moment asking how they felt about larger dogs seeing as we own a medium-large dog, and she claimed: she had been there for five years with her dogs, no issue despite that they had breed restrictions. So we felt relieved in that knowledge knowing that we had the paperwork to back up or claims about our pups pedigree (**PS, I know pitbull isn't a breed and when people say that they are, it just shows how ignorant they are, case in point, the management/staff/owners of SCN/MARTIN PROPERTIES)
Moving on to the meat of the issue, we have a 4yr +/- Boxer mix that we rescued from Austin Pets Alive two years ago; the sweetest most angelic dog ever. His best friend is a 13yr old cat and it even says on his adoption paperwork, from a certified veterinarian clinic, that his breed and pedigree is predominantly Boxer. One of the main reasons we chose him, was because my previous boxer that had passed away had leg issues toward the end of his life, and this little boxer mix that we adopted had surgery on his leg to remove some bones after being hit by a car. It was like kindred spirits calling for us to rescue him.
Fast forward to, TWO DAYS BEFORE WE WE'RE GOING TO MOVE IN, they say they would like to do a meet and greet with our dog because THEY THINK he looks too much like a "pitbull", despite what his certified vet paperwork says. I agree to bring him in so they can see him in all his glory, how sweet and we'll mannered he is. How he had so much boxer in him from his deep bellowed chest, his overly floppy ears, his long lanky legs. I even bought pictures of the white boxers for comparison and pictures of "pitbull type" dogs (they acted like boxers only come in one color, brown )
So, in their infinite canine wisdom, because apparently they became experts in diagnosing breeds, they concluded that he was a "pitbull" because his lips didn't hang low enough for their comfort.
Even after I showed them picture after picture of white boxers and dogs that matched him identically. They refused to believe it and claimed we could not move in..
TWO DAYS before we were to move in.
Let that settle for a minute.
Two days..
If you're seeking the worst in someone, look no further. These people are absolute scum.
Imagine what garbage humans you must be.. to be so callous and heartless that you'd deny applicants that had already paid $590 in deposits over what YOU THINK without the burden of proof was an aggressive dog, and even after meeting said dog you still had the stomach to turn away.
What a shitty and miserable life one must have to be able to do that to someone. I hope with every fiber of my being that every time any one of the staff at Shoal Creek North sees a dog or one that looks like mine that it reminds you of this day and what a piece of shit you are. I hope that feeling follows you around for the rest of your life and that it pierces your heart like a knife. Fucking scum. read more
