Do You Enjoy Burnt Chicken?
Atia J.

I'm sure the food here is probably quite tasty, however based on my order I'm not 100% sure. The chicken from both dinners were burnt. We gave the chicken to our . The rice was extremely dry. However, we added olive oil to the rice which instantly added moisture. I do not think I will patronize this restaurant again. Based on their prices, I expected a bit more like non-burnt chicken!

Price switch issue. I mapped location then I was directed to Facebook, then to Yelp for menu. My wife and I picked sampler for 2, at $37. But when I got there, the price was $64?!?! I showed him where I got it and even when they gave me their website, it would not pull up. Food is very good but I think they know about this. We will not be going back.

Complimentary Pita & Garlic Bread (both are vegan)
Anne R.

I crave Shish Palace at least once a week while I'm in the area- it's just sooo good. The spices and herbs always taste so fresh, and the entrees are served in what feels like family style portions, which means I usually have left overs or a second meal if not sharing it all to start with. One of my favorites is the Zesty Ghallaba with Chicken. Basically a plate of hummus, covered in sautéed and seasoned veggies, topped with spiced and seasoned chicken. You can get it spicy or mild- the zesty is flavorful either way. Plus it comes with their tasty almond rice! To make it even more of a meal to share, I add a fattoosh salad. When dining in, you get complimentary warm pita bread and a rich garlic paste, and it's all just sooo tasty. If I'm just in need of a quick lunch, or a lighter dinner, their wraps are great options if you don't want to share and just need a smaller portion. They have great options for vegans as well. The pita bread, garlic paste, hummus, falafel, fattoosh, tabouli, veggies, baba gahnoosh, vegetarian grape leaves, Mjadara Wrap (lentils), all fit vegan diets. You can have a serious feast and leave fat and happy as a vegan here. The ambiance feels a little like fast food because there are a lot of take out orders and people waiting to leave with their order during busy times, but there are plenty of booths for a more cozy sit down experience and some tables that can hold a group, with decorative scenery and Arabic music. There's usually just one server taking orders, so the pace of dining in is definitely designed for people who want to sit and enjoy their company rather than for those in a hurry- get take out for that.

Ordered a tray of takeout and everything was OUTSTANDING! Absolutely delicious and so fresh! We will definitely be returning.

Fattoosh Tawook Salad
Nina N.

Had this delivered through Door Dash and it was just as fresh and scrumptious as I had hoped. I'm not really a fan of Mediterranean food but slide me a big, crisp salad with a nice vinaigrette and I'm in heaven. I saw a post for this place and someone included a picture of their Fattoosh Tawook Salad and I immediately knew what I'd be having for lunch today. The salad comes in its own styrofoam, separate from the chicken. Let me tell you now, this chicken is some of the tenderest, juiciest, tastiest that I've ever had. The dressing is bursting with flavor and just compliments it all so well. They also included 3 warmed mini pita's. This is definitely enough for 2 or for multiple meals. Don't second guess; just place that order.

Baklava! All this for $9.99.

Yes, this is located in a strip mall, and it's very small. Normally, there would've been rows of seats on both sides of the narrow restaurant, but they've limited seating to just one side. The decor is modest, even when operating normally. So, no, it's not a palace. Get over it, your majesty: the food is fit for a king. There's a good reason for that. Shish Palace shares its DNA with the legendary former Dearborn powerhouse, La Shish. Key people behind La Shish are also involved in Shish Palace. That's why the hummus is flawlessly silky and perfectly seasoned, the pita bread is fluffy and always freshly baked, and really dang near everything you order will be a winner. The salmon salad can be served with spinach (which I chose) or mixed greens. The spinach tastes like it's fresh from the farm. The salmon is beautifully charred and nicely seasoned. It's a bargain for $13.99. The chicken shawarma wrap was a fave of mine at La Shish, and it's the same wonderfully balanced torpedo of awesome here: just the right amount of seasoned, grilled chicken, pickle, hummus, and garlic paste. For $4.99, I wish I had ordered more than 2. I ordered carry out through the Yelp app, which made things easy. They nailed all my special requests, and it was waiting for me when I walked in. I saw the baklava at the cash register- big pieces - for a reasonable $9.99. I dare you to leave without buying one: if you do, you have more willpower than I do. The menu is reduced, as many places have done, but everything is executed flawlessly. And, you get a lot for your money. You might not want to dine in, but get a carry out. And add some baklava. You can thank me later.

We are a table of four and waitress only brought two waters. Had to ask for two more. We ordered around 730pm and my husband needed one minute, she went to the table next to us and never came back to get his order. She comes back with a salad (we never ordered a salad) but said we could have it anyway. My husband ordered and we got our soups and bread very quickly. We had to ask for the kids chocolate milks since they were never brought out. But then came the wait. Our waitress came out around 8pm and told the table next to us that "she has her prime rib (pointing at me), but we are now out so you two cannot get yours, hers was the last piece (again pointing to me)" so unprofessional to call me out as if it's my fault I ordered prime rib so they cannot. Our food did not land on our table until 840pm! When questioning the waitress and manager they both said the kitchen is backed up and that it's "the holidays". The waitress was apologetic but the manager was not. Tried to offer dessert but I said no. I said we should have been notified or asked if they can get the kids food first or something some kind of communication. I asked for our food to go. We packed it up for tomorrow since we are no longer hungry after waiting. And we had to remind the waitress for the kids ice creams too. My kids were tired and not hungry anymore and then on top of it we had some rude neighbors that were making comments the whole time after I complained directed at me. The whole experience was upsetting. The manager made us feel unheard and it felt dismissive. I'm sure the food is good but we will know tomorrow when we eat it. We have always heard great things about Golden Eagle and are so sad to not want to recommend to anyone else. Please work on communicating to your customers. If we had known how backed up the kitchen was we would have prepared ourselves or left. If we knew this was typical as your manager stated is normal during the holidays then we wouldn't have eaten here. Please do better Golden Eagle! Edit: tried food and it was great. I think the main issue is service here so I am changing my stars to 3 stars instead of 1.

She ordered a 7 ounce filet medium rare which came out rare and needed to go back on the grill. Overall presentation was poor and the fillet was DRY! The final 'kicker' came when bill arrived and the free entree removed was my $17 California tacos! I was completely shocked and my wife asked me not to say anything to our server. As a frequent diner and supporter for over 30 years, I expect more from your establishments and quite honestly have seen the quality of food decline over the past few years. Looking forward to your response... I was going to post on Yelp but my spouse suggested I reach out to you directly. Thanks in advance for your attention to this issue. Kruse & Muers response: Hi - I'm sorry the filet was not cooked to your wife's liking the first time. Had we known the replacement was also not up to standard, we would have been happy to provide a replacement. I don't think I've ever heard of a medium rare filet being dry and will be sure to speak with our chef so that he can investigate. I encourage you to always let a server or manager know if you are unhappy at the time of service so that they can provide immediate resolution. Plate presentation on our steaks has been defined by Bill Kruse. I know for some, it can be underwhelming while others appreciate the simplicity of it. It is personal preference and we recognize that we will not be able to please everyone. As for your Distinguished Guest birthday gift, it is a Buy one, get one free offer. This means the complimentary meal may not be that which was consumed by the birthday person. This has been the case since the program was first implemented. Redemption restrictions are outlined in the terms and conditions which must be accepted before completing your membership. We try to ensure these are very clear so no one is unpleasantly surprised. I am very sorry that in your case, we missed that mark. While food costs have continued to rise, we have made it a point to not lower our quality standards or make recipe adjustments which would most certainly result in a decline. Without knowing your experiences specifically, I can only assure you that our commitment to excellence has not changed. We do appreciate you reaching out directly rather than publicly sharing. It is disheartening when a guest mentions years of wonderful meals without posting those positive experiences but are quick to post a negative one. I will be sure to share your feedback with our team. My final response back: Kelly - I appreciate the quick response, especially on a Sunday over the holidays. Quite honestly, I was hoping for a different response (we apologize for the food and confusion with the distinguished guest rules... how can we fix this problem) as you 'rationalize' each point. Going forward, I will take my dining business elsewhere as there are many options in this area and I will also share this experience/response.

I ordered a couple apps -- the Brussels sprouts and the boom boom shrimp. The Brussel sprouts were a touch over for me with the meat not quite being crispy enough, but that didn't stop the rest of my table from finishing them. The boom boom shrimp was delicious -- I found the spice-level completely appropriate for something I'm expecting to have 'a touch of spice' while my husband found zero spice. Would order the shrimp again. They did away with the breadbasket of yesteryears and switched to real, cut, French bread with whipped butter! The wait staff were also extremely delicate and respectful in nudging us to let us know there was a massive line waiting for our table (something we didn't realize as we were chatting and catching up).
