first of all I want to say that the workers are very experienced and they are very kind. I personally love coming here because it is never busy and the food is absolutely amazing. I recommend the chicken shwa. it is easily the best shawarma I've ever had. read more

Got their shawarma bowl as always and it's gotta be my favorite of theirs. Comes with a house vinegar dressing mix and is seasoned up! Would also recommend their fresh juice! read more

Shish Kabob Express - Meat Bowl (Shawarma) - Middle Eastern Near Me - Clinton Township, Michigan

I literally just pulled a staple out of my mouth after taking a bite of my kafta sandwich. First time going to this place. Ate half then put the rest in the fridge. Warmed up the rest and second bite i found a staple. Seriously, I'm shocked. I called the restaurant and all he said was there is no metal where they prepare the food. I told him that there must be something because I bit into a staple. He said he was sorry. I asked if I could have my money back and he said to bring the picture tomorrow. I know it's only 6 bucks but it's the principle. I'm praying this is a one time event but I won't be back to find out. read more

always good always busy never have had a bad meal here experienced staff and the owners are usually there keeping things moving

Tried this restaurant because it was recommended by a friend. I can't believe I didn't ever try this place when I still lived in Michigan (and only a mile away from this place nonetheless). My husband and I ordered carry out while we were visiting friends & family. We didn't pick up the food so I didn't see the inside of the restaurant, but the food spoke for itself. Delicious, authentic Mediterranean. Huge portions and more than enough for multiple meals. Everything tasted fresh and had great flavor. The only thing I wish was that they gave more garlic sauce and pita, but that's nothing that I can't ask for! read more

absolutely amazing!!! the workers were so great and nice! The food taste delicious and is halal! The portions are nice size. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. Also love the decor. They made it their own! read more

The guy on the phone seemed to be doing me a favor by taking my order. He simply seemed bored, even when walking me through the menu, which was helpful, but infuriating, because I felt his contempt through the phone line. The man behind the counter, who may or may not have been the same guy from the phone, was incredibly rude. He actually rolled his eyes when I paid with exact change. The lamb kabob, although well seasoned, was overcooked, and I could have gone without it. The same can be said of the shish kafta. It was an underwhelming blend of lamb and beef, overcooked to the point that it seemed like a purposeful, "F you," from the kitchen staff to whoever dared order a meal and actually make them work. The main dishes weren't the only disasters. The hummus was spectacularly bland. I took about three swipes of it with some pita bread, before I had to throw it out. It felt like bad baby food had made it's way into my carry out box. The fatoosh salad was boring in every sense. There were no carrots or cabbage, and the pita chips were greasy and fried, as opposed to being crisp and baked. The only two positive things were the pita bread, which was fresh, but obviously not made in-house. The baba ghannouj was above par as well. It's certainly not the best, or even in the top 5 I've had in the Detroit area, but it's also not the worst. The bottom line is, this place is the Middle Eastern equivalent of McDonald's. And to the owners, that is NOT a compliment. Go here if there's no where else open in a 10 mile radius, and you need food of this type fast, otherwise, keep on driving. read more

Shawarma had a bad aftertaste and most of the food was bland and tastes like it was reheated. Overpriced for the quantity you get vs AUTHENTIC middle eastern places. First and last time trying this place. read more

I had the shawarma small plate. It will be enough for 3 meals. The food is excellent and the staff was very friendly. I recommend one of everything on the menu! read more

Ordered through Uber Eats the food I ordered was wrong I called the restaurant to let them know & he was rude & told me to contact Uber eats. Uber has nothing to do with the food order being wrong. VERY RUDE! Chicken was dry I almost chocked. Will not go back. Anyone that has left a good review has never had real middle eastern food. read more

Popped in on a whim just to grab a bite to go. Ordered the vegetarian combo. Talk about a large variety of food weighing in at 4 pounds! The soup was my absolute favorite. The man who took my order said it'd be about 6-7 minutes wait, but was actually more like 2. Glad I happened Upon this place read more

I completely empathize that restaurants are struggling during covid, but the food quality was awful. Ordered through DoorDash and the order took an hour and a half to get here. Did not receive my smoothie. Called the owner and he told me I needed to call my driver for it. I ended up calling DoorDash and getting a full refund. The turnips were brown. The side of tabbouli looked old and had salad mixed in with it. My vegetarian sandwich was supposed to have mixed veggies and it had 3 carrots and a few onions. The garlic sauce did not taste good and looked slimy compared to any garlic dip I've ever had. Ended up having to throw away all of the food I waited almost two hours for. read more

Food is always great and on time. I love their carrot smoothie! The men who work there are always nice and attentive.

Wasn't happy with my meal at all/: the Hummus Gallahba with chicken had barely any chicken and 3/4 of the meal was hummus, and mushrooms.. The falafel was somewhat over-cooked and personally I didn't like there tahini sauce.. The only good thing about this location was the service, the employees were super friendly. On a side note, there is another location in Allen Park that I've been to, and it was definitely much better! As for this one, I won't go again. read more

I ordered a large smoothie and I have been ordering large smoothies for YEARS at this place. I received a small. And was told it's the only size...? I ordered three sides of hummus and I received two. I ordered a large garlic whip and I got the biggest tub I've ever seen- we received ZERO bread. Idk what happened to this place recently but it has gone DOWNHILL fast. We spent 60$ and wasted half of it because we did not receive what we ordered. I won't be back. And I'm telling my other family members who spend money here as well. read more

This is my favorite Mediterranean place in the area. Their food is always amazingly fresh, and flavorful. Got takeout for 4 tonight, for $50 with leftovers. Extremely reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Their garlic butter is to die for, and their meats are always cooked to perfection. I don't know how they got any negative reviews, but give them a try! We've been there a few times in the last month and it's been quality every time. read more

The customer service there is great, the food is always fast and fresh and they have great vegan options (soups, falafel sandwiches).. really good inexpensive fast meal, I'm always satisfied leaving there so I had to leave a review read more

Awful food delivery. Worst meal we experienced as a carry out and delivery. Driver was so unbothered by being 35 min late and unapologetic. Will not be ordering from here again. read more

Above the top friendly (uses "no problem my friend" too much) Past 2-3 times we order Lamb Kabobs it taste and texture like Beef. I hope they don't do the bait and switch... I'd give them more stars but the food has been lagging there lately. The other Shish Kabob place on Gratiot was a lot better read more

Honestly, I don't know wtf is up with ppl crying about delivery. Or the amount of food. The food is decent and its pretty reasonably priced. The two bad comments are from a person who seems to have a bad experience everywhere he goes and the other one has one tip/review. Don't be fooled you're not going to feel like you're in Lebanon but you'll like the food or your usual favorites. read more

Decided to stop in to get a quick sandwich. Nothing to heavy... I experienced the worlds smallest sandwich as it goes for a shish tawook. I understand what the other yelper posted Rac. C. Not that much flavor. Small in quantity and pricey. I asked for extra garlic. They charge 50 cent. None was included. So the sandwich was dry and small. The food was edible. Nothing I would return for. It wasn't awful just nothing that would bring me back for more or tell a friend. read more

Boyfriend went for a carry out. The guy behind the counter was very rude and not helpful in ordering at all. We really wanted large salad to share and he wanted a sampler. The food wasn't all bad, but we ended up with a tiny salad, the combo and soup..?! The guy was adamant that this was what my bf should be ordering... Listen to your customers. You would sell more and I turn make more money!! Bf said he was very rude to the person in front of him, as well, so this must be his MO. Aside from that the garlic dip was horrible. SO garlicky that we can't even eat it. It literally burns your tongue. This place is right outside my neighborhood and I wanted it to be good so we could have a close place to frequent, guess not. read more

Wanted a quick Mediterranean take out for dinner tonight, and our normal restaurant was closed. Did some searching and found Shish Kabob Express was close to us, and prices were very comparable. My husband ordered some chicken shawarma sandwiches and was very happy with them. Good amount of chicken, and the garlic was not overbearing. I got an order of hummus with chicken and am SO happy with it. I couldn't stop eating it, very good flavor and loved the spices added. Chicken on top was cooked perfectly, still juicy and had great flavor. Only wish More pita was added, as it is a very large order of hummus. Will be back!! read more

I was excited to see a Middle Eastern place open near my house. I can get a lunch here for less than $5. I get a Falafel sandwich, and it fills me up and is quite tasty. I was going to subway, and spending almost $8 for a 6 inch sub and a drink. I like the people that work here and that is it close to my work. Last night I came here with my family. We split the $9.99 vegetarian combo, and my husband and I each got a pita sandwich and added a Fattosh salad. The whole family was stuffed, with leftovers for $26. We were satisfied and felt everything was a great value and delicious. To the previous reviewer-whom it seems cannot be pleased given their other reviews-I do not appreciate your "terrorist" comment. I have lived in Metro Detroit my whole life and have been friends with and worked for many people from that area of the world and have known them to be hard working, honest and great people. Please leave those types of comments for foxnews.com. To everyone else, give this place a try! They even have a frequent diner card, with 10 stamps, your 11th meal is free! It is far from fine dinning, but is a great carry out or quick dine-in place. I will be back. read more

Really good stuff. Cilantro chicken is amazing. Standard fair is very good. Very fresh produce/salads. Watch out the pickles are a little tangy, but delish. Host is always very bpleasant, even apologized by phone (carry out order)for being low on mushrooms. read more

I made a mistake and went back here after I forgot how expensive it was. $12.18 for a Greek salad with chicken. I complained about the price and the guy said it was a very big salad. I got home and found out it was a salad for one. Decent amount of chicken but only a trace of feta cheese and not Greek dressing. Someone remind me not to go there again read more

I have used this place for catering large groups such as family gatherings and potlucks at work. The service is excellent. Waled and the rest of the crew did an excellent job on my last order, fattoush salad with chicken, for a baby shower we had at work. I purchased this the previous night and had them package the chicken and pita chips separately. The chicken was still tender the following day. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Loved the decor inside. The guy at the front seemed to be maybe the owner. I came in and ordered the shawarma combo with rice and half baba ghannouj and half hommous. Brought it to work and the chicken was really dry. It's not your typical marinated in juices all day type shawarma. It's basically a a chicken breast cut up. The beef/lamb shawarma was Ok.... the flavor wasn't the typical taste of meat shawarma. It was slightly different. Also, a little on the dry side. The rice came with this marinated vegetable stuff that had a tomato base that I didn't care for too much either. Their hommous was ok..... not the best. But, THEIR BABA WAS FKN GREAT! You can tell it's homemade. Not the stuff out of a can that's spiced up a little bit. It has large chunks of eggplant in it... brought me back to the days when I spent 4 months in Jordan. It was really good! Slightly disappointed but I'd definitely go back for some BABA! read more

I gave one star only because you have to choose a star. If I could, I would have rated zero stars. I order Middle Eastern food all the time and decided to try this place and it was a huge mistake. I paid $70 for what was considered a Family Tray and it was absolutely disgusting. There wasn't enough food in the tray to feed my guests and the food that was on the tray was probably a few days old. I even spoke to the owner about my concerns and he disregarded everything. The soup tasted just like metal, which led me to believe it must have been sitting in the same pot for a few days and all they did was just reheat it and put it back in the refrigerator. The soup definitely absorbed the metal taste from the pot. The shawarma had a horrible aftertaste and was hard. It was also very oily which led me to believe it was old meat and they just reheated it on a skillet with a ton of oil. The tray said it would feed about 5 to 6 people and it barely was enough for four adults. Please save your money. read more

Really good, surprisingly close. I must have driven by this place a thousand times without knowing it was there,... And the name less-than "grabs" your attention. Yet, when my wife and I had a craving for middle eastern and didn't want to drive all the way out to La Saj on a Saturday night, we went to yelp laughingly asking if there was a middle eastern restaurant. I there was! With moderately great reviews from my fellow yelp-a-lots. So now I add my own. The food was good (not great) about what you'd expect from most at a reasonable price. The starter combo was decent size for two (hummous, baba, tab) and delicious. Sandwiches were just the right size, if a tad dry, but suppose that's to be expected right? Garlic sauce was great! My daughter had the shrimp cilantro and it vaporized prior to myself getting a taste,... But I did get to sample a stray mushroom that thought it had escaped her clutches... Only to be quickly devoured. Quite we'll spiced and had me sending out search parties for additional escapee's... So it must have been fantastic. Sigh. Downside: had to buy bread, which came in a plastic bag. No little warm loaves of heaven you get from other restaurants. It was okay. Second, the smoothies had no ice? Delicious and cold, and it was freezing outside,... So I would have expected a little ice. Lastly, the baklava was,... Meh. Okay, but dry and rather small portion. When trying a new restaurant, my wife and I usually buy way too much. (Just in case the food's not great, we can usually find some portion of it to sustain us). In this case,... We ate entirely too much. ;) I sit here on my couch, clutching my stomach, writing this review, and smiling that we found a new place close to home. Thanks to all of you! read more

That was really quite awful. I judge most places by their chicken schwarma. Chicken Schwarma is dark meat with tons of spices that is mouth watering and delectable. Its the only way i like chicken, really. Not the sandwich but the actual chicken. Anyhoo, i ordered the chicken schwarma and hummus appetizer. The chicken was just cheaply frozen grilled chicken breast. Totally bland. Toally NOT schwarma. And the hummus? Weirdly thin and did not taste like hummus. Just odd over all. No thanks. read more
