It has been gone for a while now, so I'm relieved to find that this store contains much of the same household essentials at a similar price point but in a much cleaner layout. Sure you're not going to be able to buy timber from here but if you came out on a Saturday morning to go to the post office and you needed to buy some fuses then this place fits the bill just nicely. The store is laid out pretty logically, so I was able to find the fuses straight away, and the price was good (£1.50 for a pack of nine mixed fuses as I wasn't sure what size I needed). I quickly paid and then I was on my way. Of course I wish it had all turned out for the better - I thought I needed a new fuse for a plug but it turned out the lawnmower was just broken... so I had to head out again to get a new one from Argos, but that's another story. I would happily come back here for similar products as the store made it easy to find products and the person work was a helpful chap (he was helping someone else as I paid).

The Sally Army shop in Horsell is a bit of a gem. It's a long way from being the prettiest of shops…read morebut it's jam packed full of stuff at reasonable prices. I tend to look in these shops for children's books and toys and, although not a goldmine for these items there is often a surprise or two. There's not much clothing stocked here but most other things are kept in good supply. Books (and audio) are kept in a room at the back of the shop and this makes it convenient to browse with a toddler. The shop is dingy and dark but the welcome from the staff make it very pleasant. If you fancy a cuppa and a slice of cake then it's available too. Items are very reasonably priced and compare favourably with the other charity shops in the area. Items tend to be in reasonable condition and, where they are not so good then they are priced accordingly. The shop also seems to have larger items of baby equipment from time to time. This shop is well worth a visit, particularly if you're in Horsell to go to the Hospice book shop which is almost next door.

I always enjoy looking in the large windows at the shop front, whenever I pass by, as it has a really good displayof items for sale. There is a small selection of books but they are well priced, especially those that are for children. There have been several new items of clothing in the store in the past that have been great bargains as they can be purchased complete with the original tags.

This branch has a first floor cafe - there's a lift and also toilets (kept really clean). They do a simple cream tea for £3.50 with a scone, clotted cream and jam, with tea or coffee. It's not the Ritz, of course, but nice for a low-cost break if you are shopping in the area. They also have a selection of cakes and sandwiches. There's a good sized car park, from which it is also a short walk to a number of other retailers, like Screwfix, Wickes, and ToolStation.

While Homesense looks modern and tidy, Dunelm just looks really dated and terribly cluttered. But, if you can get past that then you've come to an Aladdin's cave of homewares. Certainly if I was looking for a new duvet or a pair of curtains, I now know the place to go. The prices were certainly very reasonable and I had to chuckle when I spotted Star Wars: The Force Awakens tissues in a small Star Wars themed area. Insert your own fanboy related joke here.

Dunelm is a great store, with lots of variety of things for your home…read more Having first gone to the new Homesense, it was strikingly obvious that Dunelm is a bit overfilled, cluttered, and dated. However, they do have good prices, and lots of choices. They did have a really small Christmas section though, which was a shame. If I needed something in particular, like new curtains, I'd definitely come here. But just to browse, it's a bit too much.
