My wife and I heard about Chef John, owner and proprietor of Thymes of the Essence, from a close…read morepersonal friend. We had our son baptized a couple months ago and decided on short notice to host an brunch/open house to celebrate. Unfortunately that left us in a bind to prepare adequate fare for our 20-25 guests. Chef John to the rescue! We let him prepare the menu and then he went over it with us for our approval. Due to the time constraint, we weren't picky. But, if you have a menu in mind he will certainly prepare what you want and make some professional suggestions along the way. What he prepared for us was wonderful! We had a large chicken pesto sandwich with a fresh homemade mayonnaise, a classic egg bake and a gourmet french toast dish. Our guests raved about everything. In fact, most stated it was the nicest baptism open house they'd ever been too! He prepared the brunch with only the freshest ingredients, which is the way it should be. Chef John's services were surprisingly affordable too! Besides paying for the ingredients and food, I believe Chef John worked his magic for only $25/hour. I don't think most personal chefs or catering companies in the area can touch that rate. Just an incredible value! Chef John is Le Cordon Bleu trained so he's no weekend chef that learned how to cook while flipping burgers at Mickey D's. He's the real deal. If you are planning your next shindig and you're looking for a way to class it up without going broke, or if you just don't want the hassle of preparing all the food, give Chef John at Thymes of the Essence a call! You and your guests will not be disappointed!

My wife and I booked the Pasta Quartet with Chef Aaron. Words can not explain how much we enjoyed…read morethe experience. Chef Aaron was incredible. His patience and teaching skills are great. If you ever had thought about taking a cooking class, (but were nervous) we would highly recommend this one or any that Chef Aaron leads. The class lasted 3 hours, It seemed like 1 hour. His explanation and stories of his family and cooking were great, they added to the down to earth approach he has. He made us feel like we were pros, and we are not, at all. Thanks again Chef Aaron we will recommend to anyone and everyone.

This is a review regarding the "Healthy Thai Favorites" with Chef Rebecca…read more My spouse and I were the 2 attendees, and at first I was nervous- but Rebecca was so welcoming. It was such a fun evening! The event happened in Rebecca's home and it had such a lovely laid-back feeling. Plus the food was delicious! Conversation flowed easily, she gave us pointers on cooking and it really felt like both of us got to do an equal amount of cooking. We brought our own wine as well, since we were celebrating a birthday. I especially liked that we got to take home a copy of the recipes to try again later. I'm very glad that this was different from just going to a big kitchen area with a chef who gives instructions at the front. This was much more hands on and felt much more personalized. We were able to work within both our dietary restrictions (kosher and vegetarian) and it never felt like we made it hard or difficult. Very fun, I would do it again. Thanks Rebecca!

They could not have been more professional, courteous and resourceful. Everything was done beautifully and they somehow managed to do it all in a very small space while flying under the radar. Thank you Danica and colleague. You made the evening wonderful. Chowgirls is expensive but for me it was absolutely worth it.

We used Chowgirls Catering for our agency holiday party this week and they were an absolute hit!…read more From planning to execution, the staff was wonderful and helpful. They helped us plan the perfect menu of small bites, while taking in our feedback about our guests. Delivery, setup and takedown was perfectly on time and Nicole was a pleasure to talk with and work with! The food from Chowgirls is phenomenal! The whole agency was raving and asking where it was from - we even had a couple of people want to use them for their upcoming celebrations! Some highlights for me included: * The hot chocolate tarte was rich and delicious - and it truly was a hot chocolate flavor! * The apple manchego sandwiches were the perfect blend of fall flavors, and everyone was shocked it wasn't a dry sandwich with all the toppings! It was a crowd favorite. * the steak skewers were perfectly cooked and tender, even served cold! * The mezze platter was delicious and filling, with some unique flavors Overall, I would recommend Chowgirls to anyone and would definitely use them again!
