Not only did he make us feel confident in our case, but he explains law very well and does not sugarcoat anything. Period. His assistant, Jennifer, who we spent several phone calls with, is very knowledgeable as well and is also SUCH a sweetheart which was calming to my business partner and I's paranoia. Not once were we blindsided by the case because both Todd and Jennifer are so factual and sincere. Hiring an attorney is a big decision, and for us, it was important that we hired someone genuine and caring. During our first hearing, both of our testifiers complimented us on how smart and polite Todd was throughout. Todd did such a great job defending us during that hearing & we were more than pleased with how much he educated himself (on his own) on the industry we are in. Apparently.. "laws changed" when nothing was done by her before the 6 month period. I will say that I had hired her with about a month to work with (5 months in to my ex moving out). Well.. I had to fire her and hire another attorney maybe a day or two after the 6 month period went by when i finally heard back from her. The only reason i think I heard from her was because of my ex's attorney telling her about texts I was sending my ex about how she can't live as far as she was trying to. Which when i did hear back.. it was about texts I was sending my ex. Not any of the texts my ex had sent me triggering the texts I sent her. Not anything to do with the fact that 6 months went by and she did nothing to drag us to court or mediation prior to the 6 month deadline. No worries right? I now drive from McKinney to Sherman and back on Thursdays.. and back there again on Fridays doing the same thing, if it's not my weekend. If it is my weekend, I drive to Sherman and back at 6 on Sundays. It will only get worse when my daughter starts school. Not to mention, she literally got $5k-$6k for this "work" while questioning me instead of my ex's attorney over how my ex and I were texting each other. So the whole time she could've been collecting things that my ex had been saying to me... she chose to listen to complaints by my ex's attorney about things I was saying to his client instead of going back to them or documenting things to use against my ex. This lady and this firm literally ruined any chance I had at true 50/50 custody. Good thing I found another law firm literally next door to my ex's law firm to get closer to 50/50 or I would be screwed even more for ANOTHER $5K. At the same time, I found out laws did not change from my new attorney and there was nothing I could do other than sue the same attorney who I hired to help me, who screwed me.. for money. Money does not get back what I loss with my child. Those rules of living in the same county still applied and she did nothing before 6 months passed (according to my new attorney). Thanks to this place dropping the ball, my ex can now live within a 100 mile radius of me (rather than the same county we raised our daughter in) which has been extremely expensive. It costs me work hours to make our meeting point. It costs me a lot in gas money and time with my daughter staring who get to stare at me from the back seat as we drive to and from our meeting point with her mom.

Alex, Brandy, and Katie were exceptionally clear when giving directions on what I needed to do, provided paperwork that needed to be signed in a very efficient manner, and always answered the emails I sent with little waiting by me. I emailed a lot, and those emails were full of questions, directions, and sarcasm. Each question was answered, directions followed, and sarcasm met with sarcasm, so we were evenly matched. I was able to keep the divorce amicable, and spent less time on the actual process than I did deciding to file for divorce. For several years, my child's mother and I shared parenting responsibilities on a week-on/week-off schedule. We each maintained clothing, school items, and necessities for our child, and I provided health insurance coverage. Despite this, I was told that I had been "spoiled" because I was not paying child support, which I found dismissive of the financial and parental contributions I had been making. Communication was another major concern. I often found it difficult to get timely responses to questions. When I informed her that I needed additional time to pay an outstanding balance but intended to pay it, I expected a discussion about possible options. Instead, she withdrew from representing me. What frustrated me most was that I did not receive a phone call to discuss the situation beforehand, which left me feeling abandoned during an important custody matter.
