"The Good"- ordering online was fastest service, pizzas were done on time. "The Bad"- The pizzas were average. I do think the menu items are great ideas but not really executed well. "The Ugly"- I called to order 2 pizzas and was left on hold for almost 10 minutes. We decided to hang up and order online then drove to pick them up. Only 4 customers seated and eating and 2 eating outside. The young lady at the counter was organizing her purse for a few minutes after our arrival and the cook had to signal to her we were standing there. She did not give us a warm welcome and almost seemed annoyed that we were there. We were hoping this place would be better since it is so close to our place....maybe they are working things out and need some more time. We will try again after a month or so and see if it gets better. read more

We dined out, each pizza was delicious. Our order took less than they quoted time wise, which was a pleasant surprise. Would get it again! Yes, it is a little pricy but your on the coast and that is the name of the game. Highly recommend. And I hope people give it a try even after a few first bad reviews. read more

We picked up a couple pizzas our first night in Rockaway. We tried the Hawaiian and Shipwreck. Our Hawaiian was supposed to be half cheese. We did substitute the garlic butter on the Shipwreck for traditional red sauce. The pizza was good. You can tell the crust is handmade. Although there was an oversight by their staff we still enjoyed the pizzas. I will say they're slightly spendy compared to other places. read more

The most unwelcoming restaurant I have EVER been to. Dined in Thursday early evening. Front desk girl could not get our order correct despite repeating ourselves a few times. Spent $110+ for a small and large pizza, one order of wings and supposedly four beers. She gave us two beers. I waited at the counter for the other two but she kept taking phone calls. Finally asked me what I was doing standing there and I told her I was waiting for our other two beers. She said we didn't order them, LET ME SEE YOUR RECEIPT. We didn't receive a receipt so she pulled up our order on her computer. She charged us for 3 beers and said I would have to pay extra for an additional beverage. Okay, so I put the cash in front of her by the register. She again said YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT. I told her the money was right there. She said, WELL YOU DIDN'T PUT THE MONEY IN MY HAND! Just checked out Shipwreck for the first time. Great, friendly customer service. The place had a nice vibe, with a couple of pinball machines and a claw machine. The seating was a little wonky, with a mixed variety of chairs, and three giant screen TVs used as a wall to partition two small rooms. The NY style pepperoni pizza was solid, with real whole milk mozzarella and a pretty good crust. The sauce was a little odd, as they used a slightly sweet marinara instead of a more traditional spicy red sauce. We also ordered a veggie pie with marinara, but they gave it to us with a garlic sauce instead. The garlic sauce was actually excellent, so no complaints. Overall, great option for pizza on the coast. I would give them a fifth star if they would switch out the marinara for a more traditional NY style sauce. read more

We stopped by without knowing anything about the place and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The guy behind the counter was so much fun and graciously assisted with a non-pizza related special request. The pizza was exceptional! It was small but cozy inside. Absolutely not worth the cost. Owners preach loudly about the "fresh ingredients" being the reason for the cost but a $3 caesar salad kit from the grocery store would be four times more food with better ingredients. At least that comes with cheese... speaking of cheese, theirs is so greasy, the pizza turned to mush. Service is slow, no where to eat inside, mediocre at best. read more

We just tried Rockaway's new pizza spot - Shipwreck Pizza - and really enjoyed our meal. The exterior improvements the owners made to the building are a great example for other local businesses. The menu has variety and satisfies most dietary preferences. We ordered pepperoni pizza and Caesar salad. Both were excellent. The quality of ingredients and food is much improved from the previous pizza establishment here. The cost of a 12" pizza and salad is comparable to all other local pizza restaurants. We are in town for the weekend and stopped here for lunch. The service was quite good and the pizza was outstanding. The crust was between a thin and raised crust, and nicely crispy. Great toppings and the sauce was really good. We would gladly stop in here again when we are in the neighborhood. read more

Holy moly- best pizza ever!! I'm a pizza expert since I've been to Italy and NYC. Ok I'm not an expert but this pizza is outstanding. Ordered the Mediterranean pizza and it simply blew my mind- the combination and amounts of ingredients complimented each other fabulously. I was so excited I grabbed a piece before I took the pic - warning the tomatoes are like biting into fresh molten lava- HOT! No worries however, for the next few days as the skin peels off the roof of my mouth it will only bring me smiles and tears of happiness. Crust is light and crispy -like biting into a piece of heaven. Caesar salad lettuce was cold and crisp and the dressing as good as mine. (I'm also an expert in caesar dressing.) Definitely go! Only suggestion to them is package the house made croutons separately- I like "em hard and crunchy (yes expert on croutons here) Excellent! read more

First off, this is really a 'to go' place. So, that was a disappointing thing for us. We like to eat in and went expecting to do that. We ordered the 12" Shipwreck pizza. We don't eat pepperoni, so asked that to be removed and compensate by adding a bit more sausage. We were charged extra for that, which I don't get as we were removing one meat and not really adding and additional item. We were told to listen for our name to be called. The place is super small inside and you feel like you are in a cave, a tiny cave. The woman at the counter was not friendly, she seemed rushed and bothered. That could be because they were slammed and it's newly opened. They didn't call our name, our pizza sat, in a box, on the counter for 15 minutes until my husband went up to ask. It was cold by then. The pizza itself, besides the temperature was good, we liked the crust. However, they mostly have bottled beverages for sale and I just wanted some ice water. I was told, 'we don't have water, you can buy a bottle' I don't buy bottled water as a rule so I declined. The Caesar salad was about the size of half a bag of salad from the store, the croutons were not spectacular and despite the 'homemade dressing' claim, the dressing truly tasted like bottled. It was $14! The food is 'served' in to go boxes with prepackaged plastic utensils. They obviously do not want you to eat in! We were disappointed. We really wanted to like the new place and maybe we would order a pizza to go in the future but maybe not. We have other places we like better and dining in is what we prefer. An additional note: this place has another room that was part of the original building but was divided during Covid to support another business. That business has since closed and the space is sitting there unused. I asked about it, were they going to open that up eventually to offer more dining area? The woman at the counter said 'a lot of people have asked about that, but I don't know what the plan is' (she was not friendly in her reply) For us locals, who will be supporting your business, you should find out the answer to that question and let us know. read more

We placed a large pickup order for 25 people that we were unsure if we'd be able to pick up prior to closing. We called and they accommodated us so well and stayed open just a little late to help us out. The food was also fantastic, large thin NY style pizza was exactly what we wanted. read more
