My husband and I were visiting Shipshewana for a couple of days and we were having a problem with our truck. We called Shipshe Auto on a Friday morning and they brought us in. They fixed what they found and thought was the problem. On Saturday the problem came back. On Monday morning we brought the truck back the mechanic took it for another test drive and found the problem. It was related to what they found the first time. On the way home from work, my "check engine" light came on. As a single woman who commutes 45 miles to work. I was anxious to have it looked at. Both the lady behind the counter and the technician who checked my car were very friendly. Luckily, it was just a sensor issue, and no repair was required. I'm just updating to add that really the work on my car *wasn't* fine. They would claim to fix things, but they weren't really fixed or only partially fixed so that the problem would re-occur within a few months. I ended up taking the car home to my dad to fix. He's not a mechanic, he just knows how cars work. So it's a little ridiculous that he found and fixed the problems better than they did. The absurdly rude attitude I could put up with, but obviously it wasn't worth it to keep coming back to a place that couldn't seem to figure out brake pads and rotors. read more

I would like to sincerely Thank Brent and the team of service people at Shipshe Auto Service. On May 1, 2019 they saved my sanity by fixing my 2008 Landrover. I had just purchased the vehicle the day before and it overheated and stopped on my way from Chicago. I got to the shop at 6:55am and my service was completed by 7:55am. They identified the issued and fixed me up. Brent was very personable and overall a bright human being. I enjoyed talking with him while I waited. I will NEVER bring my car back to them for repair!!!!!!!!!! My car broke down on me when I got to work. I called them they came and picked it up.. then I get a phone call from them saying that they won't work on the car until it is paid for. Meaning I had to pay for my service before I got service...... What a crock... it cost me $300 to put a 60$ part on my car. Then I didn't even get an alignment because that was going to be another $80..... this place is a joke..... I have never heard of a repair shop "prepaying" their work....now i could understand that if it was going to be major work or more than what we discussed why wouldn't they call and say hey... i was repairing your car and noticed that this piece is bad. would you like for us to replace it now or we can schedual it for some other time...' Do NOT bring your vehical here to get it worked on... they are a JOKE!!!!! read more

My mom and I traveled from southern Indiana to Shipshewana. We barley arrived at our hotel because our steering wheel locked up. My mom called this place, after asking the woman at the front desk at the Farmstead Inn, and the guy she spoke with generously offered to come and look at it. He said that the belt had come off, and we had just had it checked back home last week, and said that he could fix it. We waited 2 hours for the 3 belts that needed replaced. Everyone who works there is so nice and we very much appreciated their help and we were on our way to explore the city. Thank you so much! You guys are lifesavers. read more

These guys don't know anything except for what their computer tells them. I took my car in because the cruise control stopped working. They told me it was because the ABS system on my car was unresponsive. OK, I looked at my car and couldn't find the ABS box. Took it back and told them my car DOES NOT have ABS. They still think the problem is the ABS system. This time there is a wiring issue between the speed sensors on the wheels and the ABS system. Now, I don't claim to be a mechanic but I have done my share of auto mechanics and if you just investigate the brake system with your OWN EYES you can tell there is NO ABS on this car. I will never take another vehicle there again read more
