As always, having a great time here at Ship & Anchor! Rich and his wife Natasha, along with Ashley and Curtis are four of the best bartenders this side of Atlanta! Ship & Anchor is located in Sandy Springs just north of the perimeter line. This is absolutely been my number one bar since I moved down here in 2016. I love the camaraderie, knowledge of what is on tap, and the food is absolutely delicious.

Back in GA for dinner with a British Nigerian subject friend of mine. So we stopped at the Ship and Anchor for, what I thought would be a singular British experience, y'know Fish and Chips, Yorkshire Puddings and Steak and Kidney pies and all that lot, but strange as it may seem, I forgot about Covid 19 and the fact that a lot of menus have limited options not to mention American palates are traditional to say the least. That being said, we started with three appetizers, Smoked Salmon, Spinach Artichoke Dip, and Lamb Kebabs. They were all perfect. Spinach Dip was fresh and smokey with jalapeno fried tortilla, Lamb Kebabs were tender and the Smoked Salmon was scrumptious. Appetizers accompanied by two drinks, Wrath and War. Based on the 7 Deadly Sins and the Four Horseman, Wrath was kinda Margarita-ish but that WAR was a great Bloody Mary with Absolut Peppar Vodka. On to the entree. Meatloaf with String Beans. I expected plain but it had veggies like carrot and spinach which was nestled between the gravy and the meatloaf. Now let's talk generous portions of appetizers and entree and dinner was complete. Service was top notch with attentive Customer Service from Ashley, bartender/server/ greeter and Rich, the General Manager/Server. Hopefully, when the pandemic has run its course maybe the Owner, if I might humbly suggest, expand the menu to include say a Ploughboy Plate, Victoria Cake, definitely Yorkshire Pudding and Mushy Peas made with proper Marrowfat Peas...just asking . Would definitely give Five Star for those additions. Rich genl mgr and Ashley

The food was quick and delicious. I really love the atmosphere, and the service was great

bangers and mash

Came in on a Sunday afternoon, slow but everyone was friendly and the vibe was welcoming. I loved the low lighting and genuine pub atmosphere. Amanda was our bartender and was perfect, I got a Jameson mule, my friend got an Old Fashioned both were really well made. Amanda recommended the bangers and mash which were so good I almost licked the plate clean. The bangers were nice and crispy and the mashed potatoes tasted so homey and comforting and the brown gravy with caramelized onions really brought the whole dish together. 10/10 from me and I'm picky with my mashed potatoes and gravy! It had the peels in it so you know it's not that instant crap. Perfectly salted and peppered too! This place is definitely worth checking out with the awesome atmosphere and great food. Looked like they had a good beer selection too! I am already looking forward to my next visit here!

I had heard about Battle & Brew for many years, but never got around to actually going. Me, my…read morewife, and our two best friends went one day after dinner. I had an idea of what this place, but wasn't exactly sure what it all entailed. We walked in and were greeted by a large shelf or should I say shelves of a bunch of different board and card games. We walked to the register and told them we wanted to play some board/card games. I believe it was $7 per hour and then $35 for everything else. Everything else means all the video/electronic games. Think PS5, Switch, PC, Xbox. It was sooooo cool seeing everyone play all the different games. There were bigger groups, couples, people by themselves. It's truly a place where anyone can go and have a good time! We got some drinks (they have a really cool cocktail menu). They do have a food menu too, but we just came from dinner, so we only got drinks. Our service wasn't the best though. It took forever for someone to come and check on us, and no one came to fill our water the entire time we were there. Service could definitely be a lot better! Battle & Brew is in a shopping center, so there is plenty of parking. It's also pretty big too, so there is plenty of seating inside. I would definitely come back here in the future and play some of the video games, as I love to play some Nintendo Switch!

3.5 Despite having…read morenerdy tendencies, this wasn't the place for me. I'm thinking that I experienced it in its weaker era. I came here on a work trip so there was a LOT going on: food buffets, bar mania, games of all sorts. Had I come here with a group of friends to play games and sip on a drink I think I would have had a different (read: better) experience. That said, I appreciate that B&B exists and what it's trying to do. Despite being here as part of a big group, the staff was perfectly lovely and patient. That's not always the case when it comes to dealing with large groups. The food menu is confusingly large and caters to about every taste.* I got a little grossed out at the thought of eating around so much dust. Board games and consoles are dirty/dusty. They show both easily. Eating around/in that didn't appeal to me. What *did* appeal to me, though, was the thought of drinking a potion. From the glass (straight up D&D) to the color (blue), I was all in. The Mana Potion had a lot of the right elements (gin, blue curacao, elderflower liqueur, lemon, and Sprite) but the extra zhuzh for our party was team too much. The edible glitter made the drink a bit thick and didn't do wonders for my stomach. It's a tough criticism because I was here for an extra sparkly drink/potion. Definitely on brand. For me, Battle & Brew is an odd space that could benefit from some editing. But, it looks like I am in the minority. I can agree with not being the target audience. So, gamers, have at it! *I didn't experience much in the way of GF/DF/VG options but, again, target audience.

You go in and it's a little bit dark and they have TV so you can watch sports but it's nothing fancy but it gets straight to the point. You'll come in and most likely sit at the bar which is where a lot of the action is. You park outside and have your own parking lot so you have to worry about that but it's very friendly and all the bartenders are really friendly as well. I had been one time and they acted like they were trying to get to know me and I appreciate it that customer service. I just came in for a quick meal to get my macros together, so I got the brussel sprouts and a chicken wrap. The chicken wrap was pretty good. Nothing crazy or nothing amazing or not. Nothing special, but it was still pretty good. The fries were steak fries, cooked pretty well. The brussel sprouts were good. It was just basic bar food so I don't have anything bad to say but just par if that makes any sense.

They host Team Trivia every Thursday at 8pm which can be difficult for a younger group, but is still fun. The ambiance of the bar is great. It's definitely a little limited on seating but that allows the bar to have a cozy vibe and really feel like you're in a British Pub. The bar also has some golf arcade games if trivia isn't your thing. Staffing can sometimes be a little light, but when staying for a while and playing trivia it isn't too noticeable. Most of the food is typical bar food and for all my previous visits it was decent but nothing special. However, on my most recent visit I tried their signature meatloaf and it was a level above all the other food and something I will definitely get again. Overall, I think The King George Tavern provides an excellent experience for a trivia night with friends, and I'll continue going back.

We have been wanting to try the bistro filet bites, but what we received was rancid. The meat was cooked, but it had a smell that I noticed only after biting into one, chewing, and immediately spitting it out. It was unbelievably foul-tasting and the worst meat I have ever put in my mouth, which was concerning. We were given a buffalo chicken flatbread that was swimming in so much hot sauce that we had to wipe some off the top to see, let alone, taste, what was underneath. All we did taste was straight up hot sauce. The Shepherd's Pie was a favorite, but the latest entree was largely cauliflower and broccoli with no green beans and no pan sauce. The vegetables are usually amazing and exactly what is pictured on the menu with green beans -- no broccoli or cauliflower in sight. I don't know if they were trying to cut costs, but the quality of the food just hasn't been the same on our last two visits.
