After doing our workout at the E-Center the other day, we decided that we should have pizza rather than cooking. We decided to try Shine Pizza since we were already there. We called and were told that they were open until 10 pm, and it was only 7 pm, so we went for it. When you walk it, you are instantly greeted by a yummy aroma! We were hopeful. The girl at the counter was pleasant enough, but not too welcoming. The restaurant was empty, but the music was pleasant, it was clean, open and comfortable. We selected the 16-inch vegetarian (Baby Bella, Fire-Roasted Artichokes, Caramelized Cipollini Onion & Red Pepper, Bufala, Mozzarella, Provolone, Garlic) pizza and added the turkey sausage on it. We got our drinks and sat down to wait for the pizza. One of the employees was busy mopping floors and wiping tables, great! We like the clean environment! And then she began leaning the chairs onto the tables, as if they were closing. It was only 7:20! Our pizza came out at 7:30 steaming and smelling yummy! We were dining in, but it was delivered to our table in a large box, with two plastic plates, and packets of grated parmesean cheese and red pepper flakes. We thought maybe they just missed that we were eating in. Not exactly, warmly inviting us to stay. To be fair, it had an awesome sauce, fragrant, tasty, and bubbly! I loved that. The crust was ok, not the very best, but definitely solid. If you like a good cheese pull, this is not your pizza. I'm guessing that there was less than 4 oz total cheese on this 16-inch pie. The baby bella, onions, red pepper, and artichokes were thinly sliced, but very tasty. The most pronounced taste was the artichokes which was nice. So, all in all, we were doing our best to enjoy the pizza, brought in a take out box, with the chairs stacked against tables, and suddenly the music stopped at 7:50 pm. Remember we called ahead and were told the hours were open until 10 pm. We cleaned up after ourselves and left by 8 pm. We had eaten here previously a couple of years ago, and were not wowed at the time, and once again, I don't think we'll return due to the unwelcoming attitude on this encounter. They "used" to have the best pizza ..! Sad to say, not anymore. Had the usual "Margherita pizza... but they've changed their preparation and ingredients apparently- downgraded I must say. And prices increased disproportionately. Earlier they used to have bufala mozzarella and marinated roasted yellow tomatoes on it but not anymore... today it was run of the mill and just blah. $24 for a 16" large non-gourmet pizza - I will no longer spend. Giving it a 4 rating because with 3 large ovens , it wasn't that busy and adequate staffing , it was over 30 minutes to wait inside . I ordered online 30 minutes before picking up my pizza. When I walked into the shop, I noticed a burned smell and half-jokingly thought, "Oh, I hope that's not my pizza." I've been eating here for the past two years, and every time, the pizza has been hot and delicious. But today was different. My first slice had a slightly burnt taste, which I tried to ignore. By the second slice, the burnt flavor was even stronger. That's when I flipped the pizza over and saw that the bottom was extra dark--completely burnt. At this point, I realized my order was inedible. I tried calling the number listed on Google four times, but no one answered. Since I couldn't reach anyone, I'm posting this review to see if I can get a refund. I hope this was just a one-time mistake, but it's disappointing to get a burnt pizza with no way to resolve the issue. read more

This was my second time trying Shine- the first time was when they first opened and we weren't impressed, but figured it was just a new business and they needed a bit of time. We always try to support the local people....however.... Order delivery last night. Large pizza with 3 toppings- sausage, buffalo, onions. Only had sausage on it. The crust was doughy and over cooked on the edges and almost raw in the middle. Barely any sauce but overloaded with cheese. Not what we ordered and nearly inedible. It was so bad that the one slice was partially eaten and the leftovers went into the garbage. What a waste. Delivery- literally place on my front step- did not ring the doorbell. Luckily I was following on the tracker and saw that it had been delivered. Safe to say that there are far better options for pizza in this area. They won't be getting any more of my money. read more

Service was great too and the chef even came out to see how if we enjoyed the pizza and shared with us just his passion to really make a good, unique pizza dough. The owner/chef was very kind, we will definitely be back!! I saw a review from 3 months ago regarding the sanitary side of the place & I would like to follow up that they must have changed. I also check to see if people are wearing gloves in places like this which he was!! The crust is OK. It wasn't the best crust, but I liked it. That is about the only nice thing I can say. The staff didn't seem interested in taking orders when we walked in, even though the place was empty. When the fellow finally walked over to the register, he acted as if we'd kicked his dog or something. He was just sour with us, despite us still being polite and smiling after being made to wait. The pizza took FOREVER, even though we mentioned that we were going to a show at the children's theater nearby. It seemed like they were prioritizing deliveries. The music playing was awful, like someone put on a "worst songs of the 90s and 00s playlist." A lot of weird music for a sit-down restaurant like Korn and Nickelback. Twice, a young lady came out to ask if we needed plates and silverware. We said yes both times. Never got either. Salads were served in cumbersome to-go boxes. While the pizza is good, I'm sad about the fact they don't offer a medium size or do half and half pizzas. If you want a half cheese/half pepperoni, you have to buy two pizzas- which is close to $20. And for kids that only eat 2 pieces each, that's expensive. We'll just go somewhere else that lets us do that. Hopefully one day they'll change that. If they do, we'll definitely be back. read more

We decided to try this place since it recently reopened as SHINE pizza. When we walked in it was similar setup to before. You order and get your drinks and they bring your food to your table. We were disappointed that they were out of garlic knots. Maybe they don't make them there? What was more disappointing is they have calzones but you can only order the three varieties on the menu. That makes me think they're not made in house. I really thought the pizza would just be ok but,since I couldn't get a calzone like I wanted, I decided to try the pizza. Turns out it was very good. Alright, really wanted to give this place 5 stars since it's nearby where I live. So I guess I'll just do pros and cons and let people decide if I'm being too petty about docking a star. Pros: - Food was delicious. Wife and I split garlic knots and a calzone. Quality ingredients, great sauce, will happily come back for the food alone. Calzone exceeded my expectations in terms of size. - They had signs up that said they were experiencing equipment issues and still got food out relatively quickly considering. Service was great. Cons: -Limited space for dine in. I know that isn't really something controllable but maybe call in first if you plan on eating there. - They don't offer ranch. Not totally factoring that into my rating but for a place that has salads on the menu seems strange to not have it, pretty easy to make. -They don't have knives? I don't know if I'm being crazy but I have NEVER been to a place that has calzones on the menu and doesn't give you a fork and knife to eat it. Also small kids can't really pick up pizza well, I'm sure parents would appreciate having them to cut up if needed. I get it, inflation sucks, you want to cut costs where possible, but offering the appropriate utensils for the food on your menu seems like a no brainer. That's all I have. If you've never tried this place, definitely give it a shot, but maybe stick to pizza if you're dining in. read more

I gave this a place 4 stars because the pizza and salad were great. Very delicious! I wanted to give three stars because the sanitary habits in this restaurant left much to be desired, but I did not want my rating to take away from the taste of the food. I will not be returning here simply because I watched an employee make a customers salad with his bare hands. He reached into a bucket, grabbed topping with his bare hands and sprinkled it onto the salad, then he grabbed a wet rag to wipe his hands, and proceeded to grab another topping with this bare hands. Shine was absolutely delicious today. The Carni pizza had the perfect protein to cheese ratio, and their blend of cheeses was amazing! We ordered a small Classic Cheese pizza, and it was classic indeed. Highly recommend it!!! The manager also treated us with a Mascarpone Dessert pizza, and we all left wanting more! Food is good, but there is NO customer service. My husband went tonight, and he was going to pay for our over $40 order with a hundred dollar bill. He was told that they don't accept large bills because of counterfeit bills. He told them they could buy a pen to check for counterfeit bills and that MOST counterfeit bills are $20. The manager told him that they only keep $300 in cash, and they have to think of their other customers. Really??? What about their customers with cash???? Is cash discouraged everywhere now? We have eaten here before but this will be the last time. Terrible customer service! We arrived @ 6:30pm and placed our order. We were informed they were "out of garlic knots". Hard to understand how that happens when you are a pizza restaurant and have dough on hand. While waiting we noticed an employee, TINA running out the door and yelling at a customer. Me and my husband were shocked to hear the way TINA was speaking to the lady. The gentleman who was taking orders (not sure if he was a manager or not) just watched and didn't say anything. TINA then goes around berating customers who used wrong cups to fill up water. Absolutely disgusting customer service! Clearly TINA needs to be addressed. First pizza place I have ever been to in my life where I was told NO, I could not add anything to a pizza I had ordered. I have a child who likes pepperoni, and according to the "rules" of this place, you can't add anything to their specialty pizzas. Seriously even if you offer to pay for it. Now I could see if there were some unique ingredients and a visionary chef, but no, it's Hoagies (the establishment that was there before the name change), and they are making the crust. Overall not bad, would have been exponentially better with the Pepperoni because the pizza wasn't salty enough and the crust was undercooked. Trust the customer, they know what they want and they deserve to get it and I would have left you with a 4 or 5-star review had you let me pay for and add the pepperoni we could have lived with the undercooked crust. That said if you are going to come up with specialties and pretend to be Italian, followthrough is important. Polpette {Italian Meatballs In Rich Tomato Sauce} are what you offered on your pizza, what we got were slabs of a sausage loaf of sorts, which tasted okay but not the experience that was advertised. read more
