Rounded square not what I asked for
Dee C.

There is street parking. The salon is big, not many colors to choose from for gel. I saw they had some dip but not many options for that either. They have lots of seating which is nice. I got a gel manicure and a pedicure. Wasn't anything grand for the price they charge. It was pretty standard. My bill was 90$ when I asked the break down. They charge you to take the gel polish off. So that like a whole separate thing. I got French tip on just one nail and they charged me 3$. So the pedicure must have been 40$. They put the lotion in a glove and warm it up and dip you hand in it whole they do the manicure. It smells nice, but it gets to feel a Lil weird after a while. When it gets cold feels like your hand in wet plastic. Sweaty and such. I asked for square shape on my toes and she was rounding them so they are rounded ok the corners and square on top. Had I known what they were gna charge I would have made more of a deal out of it. All in all it was an ok experience. I won't be going back cause paying 50$ for a gel manicure isn't in my budget, especially when it isn't anything to rave about. Look for yourself and make your own decision.

Lots of space for social distancing. I am back!!!

My go-to place. They are spacious, courteous and clean, and quiet (no TVs anywhere). A great place to relax and get pampered. With Covid, they keep distances and use 1/3 of stations, so need an appointment.

Peeled off my skin doing upper lip wax.

I went to this salon because my friend suggested it. But had a very bad experience. Got upper lip wax done and it peeled my skin of. Also got waxing done for hands. Ideally you apply some oil based lotion to remove the stickiness. But they use talcum powder which is really disappointing. It makes the sticky patches black.

I LOVE Shiny Nails. I can't say enough about how great they are. I believe they are the best local salon in the area for a $30.00 mani/pedi. There are four women working here, and I've had experience with all. Ming is the owner- she & Kitty give the best manicures & pedicures, but the other girls are good as well. There are four manicure stations, three pedicure booths, and four drying areas. They also have a back room for waxing. My friends and I have had our eyebrows done there several times, and are always happy with the results. There is a large selection of nail polish- almost all OPI along the wall, and then a variety of essie kept at the stations. If you can't find a color, tell the name and they will be able to find it for you. They often buy new colors, too. The manicures are quick & efficient, and I've always had really nice experiences with the moisturizing & hand massages. The pedicures are great, too; they really, really buff your feet. I've also had acrylics and gel nails from here. They will make them as thin and short as you want, so they look natural, and I've also seen them very long on other women. I took them off to let my natural nails breathe, but may go back again eventually. Also, it's totally illegal in MA to use callous removing scrapers, and has been for awhile now, so if you're at a salon that does this/disappointed that they don't do it here, well, ew, you're gross :( Also, they no longer have individual boxes for each customer; another law that was changed for sanitary reasons. Instead, they constantly sanitize clippers and only use new files, scrubbers, etc. I come to this place almost every weekend. I've introduced five friends from the Boston area, and they always go as well. The place is always packed, so I insist you make an appointment in advance, because if you walk in you'll probably be disappointed. Also, if you have an appointment, they take you right away- I've never experienced a wait. love love love shiny nails!

This place is great. Just reopened after a fire. Clean and beautiful! I'm a guy and they make me feel right at home. Kitty is a very good business woman. When they were closed I tried many other places but nothing compares to Shine On!

Dip powder manicure, perfect!

My favorite part about Shiny Nails is that it is the quietest nail salon I have ever been in.

I got my gel nails done last week of February and within a week, my nails started to chip, I went go one fixed then the next day, unfortunately, another one was chipped now there is an additional nail chipped, a total of 3. Gel should last minimum 2 -3 weeks and this is just a waste of money for me at this point. I am done with getting my nails here and none of my friends will be coming here either.

This is a rush job shop...unless you are paying over $100 for complicated nail art, or for…read moreyou and your family to get mani/pedis, in which case they will mow over other clients for you! You don't want to be the person mowed over when you need them, so I would avoid. I have dealt with this salon many times over the years. Usually, something happens and I take a break from them for a few years until they have a staff change. This go around, I had four progressively worse gel manis in a row. Unfortunately, the manicurists here don't have enough time to care about your natural nails. I don't know if the owner isn't allocating enough time for the service or they are letting other clients run late but the staff here always seem like they are rushing, especially with gel removals. That means they end up hacking away at your natural nails, which leaves them in progressively worse shape. After my last mani, my thumb nail ripped hours later when I reached into my pocket for dog poop baggies. There is also evidence of polish pooling at the cuticles with the nails grown out. It wasn't the best mani by a long shot and I'm sure the manicurist likely knew that. Ahead of a trip to the Berkshires, I booked a gel removal only for today. Appeared for my appointment 5 minutes early. The receptionist literally said that since I was just booked for removal, I could have a seat. I sat there for 20 minutes. During this time, some hyenas getting complicated nail art were harassing me for no good reason. I said nothing to them, but they were making appearance-related comments and laughing. In the past when running behind, the receptionist has called and texted to ask if it's okay to push my appointment back, but not today - I guess because it was "just" a removal. I'm currently the primary caregiver for an elderly relative who was with a paid caregiver during this time. I wasn't going to sit around all afternoon waiting for "just" a removal and also didn't want to continue having to listen to the hyenas. The receptionist had left her desk after checking me in and hadn't returned. No updates from anyone on staff. I walked out of the salon...and am left with a mess on my nails for a weekend at Tanglewood. Different people are of course treated differently. I watched a white family come into this salon once with the daughter having booked everyone at the wrong location. There were three of them and a packed salon but they still found a way to accommodate them on time. I've also seen whites come in for removals only and get served on time. And the logic of prioritizing high cost services doesn't math if you've been a loyal customer - having dropped hundreds over multiple visits - and you need the not-so-great work of one of this salon's manicurists off your nails. It's still "just" a removal??? All of the manicurists at this location have their pluses and minuses. Siobhan was wonderful when she worked here but no longer does. Francesca is the only person I would trust here these days but she's careful, which means that she's usually running behind. Also, her cuticle work isn't the best - they sometimes look a little more ragged after she works on them. Didn't have a good experience with Q. She really hacked up my nails doing a gel removal and she applied a subsequent gel polish too thick. Note about comments from the "manager": Thank you so much for reaching out directly to apologize for the poor service. (Wait--my mistake. That must've slipped your mind.) While we're celebrating great communication, you may have also overlooked the part where your receptionist wasn't at her desk. Small detail, I know. Just to clarify: I call out what I experience, which I'm fully entitled to do. You're certainly welcome to say everyone is treated well--when the appointment actually starts on time and the service runs as scheduled, like it did for the clients who walked in after me. And as for your records, they may want to double-check themselves--unless "waiting for someone to vacate the chair" now counts as part of the treatment time.
